"Which Continent Has The Best" is a great segment with lots of choices
...and Josh didn't even answer that question in the end D:
I'd watch - rice, assorted meats, salads and soups; this is definitely a good idea for something recurring
Six, specifically. Seven in certain circumstances; something from McMurdo Research Station would be interesting.
Pot roast.
Peruvian cuisine is AMAZING it’s literally a perfect blend of fusions from all over the world
I just tried Peruvian food for the first time a few months ago and I still think about it omg why isn't it more popular
Someone needs to tell Josh about pollo al ajillo from Spain. Bite sized fried chicken pieces with crispy garlic finished in a reduced lemon and wine sauce? Get on it
That sounds amazing
*_writing this dish’s name down_*
That sounds so frickin good
just letting Josh yap is a dangerous show idea
It’s what the people want!
In Australia we have a very hotly debated culture war between saying Parmi or Parma. To find out the UK calls it parmo.... I'll never argue either way again. Parmo is the worst thing i've ever heard. Bloody poms.
i was just thinking this
parmo is just awful
Parma Jedd, Parma lol
as a brit ive only ever heard it refered to as a parm, no vowel on the end. i think this solves the war, a unifying solution!
If it helps I'm British and this is the first I've ever heard of it; you probably have more of a claim to call it what you like. Even if it was invented here it's certainly not a common food: American southern fried chicken is far more familiar in the UK
I’m part Brit and part Italian so I’m sure I can somewhat answer that. I don’t think i’ve ever heard Parmo in the UK. It’s definitely not the norm. I’d argue the more common is Paa-muh or Parma tho.
Also, not to make it any more confusing but in Italy I’ve heard even more pronunciations for it lol. Hell, most people still call Parmigiano Parmesan half the time.
Edit: apparently the dish was made in north Yorkshire so that adds up. I can see the harder accent spinning it that way.
More!!! Noodles from each continent!!
Pot roast.
I appreciate the leaning into the continent controversy. "Australia? Pff We're going with a US Territory on a completely separate tectonic plate"
I really liked this! It gives Josh the perfect showcase to give his knowledge of food, and I really loved watching the small video snippets showing the prep of each dish. I think this could be a fun series for a lot of different types of food
Antarctica doesn't have fried chicken, but it does have fried penguin
“Super popular British pub dish” I have never seen this in a British pub
? This was in like every British and Australian pub I've ever been in...
I'd say every aussie pub for sure
Maybe not the version with bechamel, but they all have a bunch of different versions of parmas/parmis/parmos
Japanese and Korean fried chicken is the best, it takes any sauce and stays crispy with just the right crunch it's perfect.
As a middle aged brit I don't think I've ever had a parmo. Most chicken places I know only do the US style of fried chicken or the south African Peri Peri style. I would love to see you guys make some English dishes but none of that student stuff like beans on toast that everyone seems to think we eat. Much love from the UK, hope you're all having a great day.
Parmos are big in the north east, especially around Middlesbrough, Stockton, Darlington etc. It's hard to find a pizza shop that doesn't sell them along the usual pizzas and kebabs.
it’s a northern english thing
Stuffed doughy things from each continent. Every country has its own dumpling-esque dish, from pierogi to empanadas to gyoza. Would love to hear of more off-the-beaten-path ones.
i really like the historical aspect to a lot of the mythical kitchen videos, learning about the origin of certain foods, learning about how seasonings and things spread over the course of time, etc.
You can do this for spaghetti too, sweet filipino style, puttanesca, napolitan from japan etc.
As a Welsh person, I have never seen that chicken dish in a British pub in my life 🤣
Living in the uk these videos being uploaded at this time is a godsend
Love the Korean sauce!! Though, it's not pronounced "Kochujang", but "Gochujang". The Korean language doesn't really have a G sound, but a very soft K sound that is often "romanized" (translated) to a hard G sound. A hard K sound is a completely different letter. Gochujang = 고추장 Kochujang = 코추장 meaning something like KO Chief (gibberish).
some type of spring roll next! i havent really researched it, but surely every continent has some type of ground meat wrapped in thin wrapper and deep fried. would be interesting to see what types of filling different continents use!
Was waiting for a crispy fried penguin option for Antarctica 😂
Chicken parmo is amazing. Its a north east England thing and you need a ridiculously strong garlci sauce with it
Love the format.
Lmao at Lilly with the Antarctica fried chicken
At least the Australian Parma uses a tomato sauce/passata base with cheese and ham on top. The acid can at least cut through the fattiness of the breaded fry, which the UK Parmo is missing.
Parmi*.....
m8
Thank you guys for continuing to celebrate Peruvian cuisine.
I love this segment. I’m happy to see different takes on a beloved dish. Gotta keep an eye out for that chicken from Oceania
I would say do soups as in soups parents make for when their kids get sick
Oooh that’s a great idea!
I love winding Josh up and just letting him go, but it did feel weirdly quiet on the set. I did love Lily’s frozen fried chicken assault 🫶
Mythical Chicken, answering the hard-hitting questions.
I went to university (college) in Teesside. The parmo is the perfect food on the way home from a night out. Especially with pepperoni and chips. Just don’t think about the macros
I feel like this is josh’s audition to have a proper food network show
You better believe I am always here within 5 minutes of the video being uploaded. We never miss a Mythical Kitchen upload around here!
Ok
Lets gooo! I’m with you!
This is a great segment! I await more Antarctica food jokes
Chicken Palmo is amazing, you can get it in pubs or a takeaway restaurant
Ive tried food in various places but for me nothing beat the good ol american chicken sothern style. Score this for 'merica.
We need a noodle video but I feel like picking it would be hell. Japan has like 4 god tier options lmao
You're missing all the sauces on the Peruvian chicharrón!! But really good chicken, thanks for the representation ❤❤
Noodles and Pizza from each!!
Can we see a combination of the culinary styles like African and Southern USA?
New series: fried chicken from every county in the world. I’d watch that
Fried chicken will unite us all! Who doesn't LOVE fried chicken? 😋
I'm from England and have never seen that chicken dish in my life, and I've been to a lot of pubs... A lot. I wonder if it's specific to a time period or place in England. I would go as far as saying we don't have our own version, we have a lot of US and Korean fried chicken
When he said Teesside he was correct, it’s everywhere in the north east but not common elsewhere
Chicken tikka is probably the most popular chicken dish here. Being from London, you get all of the ones shown on here because there are so many nationalities living here but I've never seen a pub serve a chicken parm!
I loved this format. Please do it again!
I was wondering what they were going to do for Australia since the closest thing we get to our own fried chicken is a Parmi but they went with Parma for UK, I think going to Oceania was a good choice tbh
I guess fried chicken videos is what pays the bills
Is it possible to combine all these into one single ultimate fried chicken? while I'm not a cook I'll eat new combos for the new experiences :D
the 3am release go crazy
The best fried chicken dishes have an American influence.
Love this Original Series; so many ideas
Parmo is pretty rare in the UK, except in the North East, Middlesborough, Newcastle etc. I'm from the North West and you can occasionally find it in takeaways, topped like a pizza (Pepperoni, Jalapenos etc).
as a brit, i'll be honest, i've never seen fried chicken that way!
Got to love that Australia is technically a continent
Awesome job Josh drops like for you see on Sunday on the podcast
i would honestly be interested in just seeing more chicken!
i would love to see rhett and link taste test these in a future episode of GMM
Definitely going to keep this one in my save file so I can make later. 😊
Be careful with celery if you have heart problems! It is high in nitrates and is often used as a preservative (especially in lunch meats).
This was so fun! I would love to see some sort of dumpling/stuffed pasta/stuffed dough showcase, or perhaps a type of soup. I hope you do more around the world recipe videos - and do see if any of the researchers on the Antarctic bases have come up with unique recipes!
absolutely love this format. would love to see an episode of all the dumpling/ravioli things from each continent (dough pocket with meat filling)
I was counting plates at the beginning...I'm glad you brought in Antarctica. A frozen version of whatever in future episodes just thrown in at the end...I think that needs to happen. Next, go for soups!
I´ve learned that everyone loves fried chicken and that any possible variety of fried chicken looks mouthwateringly delicious
Well I am happy to discover a british food I have never heard of or seen before as a Brit ! chicken parmo eh, gonna have to make that.
It looks so good
World Cup of Sandwiches please like literally do a draw!
Antarctica getting the shaft
That chicken parmi is an insult to all Australians
Ayyyeee Guam represent with the fina'denne'!!
Would have loved a smidge more cooking part. Super cool comparisons. Thanks! Makes me want to try some of these recipes. Did you link a recipe?
Iran has a fried chicken often served with rice called “akbar jujeh”. It’s so greasy but so good! 😅
This would be fun to see with different styles of barbeque or curry. It might not hit every continent but there's so much variety in both around the world
As chicken's #1 hater I hope you make more videos like this with foods whose textures I actually enjoy
Josh needs to hit up the Chimaek festival in Daegu, South Korea. It is a great time.
I like making my shallow fried chicken with pancake batter and crushed ruffles chips, thanks for the delicious showcase Josh!
With how so many cultures within just a continent does different things to fried chicken, this could have been a series. Like "All the fried chicken styles from Asian countries", "All the fried chicken styles from Africa!", ect.
Cause I feel its a travesty that karage wasn't on here with the korean version.
now make a recipe combining techniques from all of them
Would love to see the continents go head to head on a bread based meal
I just need all of these on my dining room table. I need to especially try the Guamanian chicken. Josh really sold it.
You didn't pick a winner! How am I supposed to know where to get the best if you don't pick a winner?!
Noodles, soup, sandwiches, dumplings, pizza
I have to say i prefer semi serious Josh to comedy Josh. Nice episode!
Fried chicken is always awesome. Currently use for bulks
Si Yu'us Ma'ase Chamorru representation from my favorite chef 🇬🇺
please do a last meals with jschlatt !!!
he watches ur channel toooo
I think the best pasta/noodle dishes from each continent would fun and interesting
Fair enough doing Guam because Oz / NZ fried chicken are just local takes on Chicken Parma/I (never parmo)
Can you guys do a video of each of you share your favorite air fryer recipes. Such a time saver but I need new ideas.
I know chicken parm is fried but as an Aussie I never would’ve actually considered it ‘fried chicken’
Ive never been so sad to see the British slop of a parmo, and not having the aussie classic of a Parmi
Love to see the Chamorro representation! Wait till Josh learns about chicken kelaguen
Fried chicken is the iconic of this kitchen
Parmo is a crazy choice here. I live in the North of England, but not in Teesside, and I've never had a parmo in my life, nor ever seen one for sale 😂 It is such a ridiculously local choice, and certainly not a "pub favourite" even in England let alone the whole UK.
I kind of love seeing Americans completely mosunderstand other countries though. Keep up the good work 😂
But lots of others in the comments are saying how excited they were to see it... 🤙🏻
@@juniperbeaty6226 so am I! 🤣 sorry if that wasn't clear!
It’s an Aussie pub favourite
Chicken will forever now be called bird meat in my house. Love you guys
Continets are based on continental plates and culture, so europe and asia are on the same plate but bcz of culture its divided
Surely some scientists at a research station in Antarctica came up with a fried chicken dish while they were there.
Definitely should make this a series of just chicken from different continents, I'm sure there's more than enough
Sight unseen guessing Korea
he said middlesbrough correct! all the points for Josh
We gotta see sausage or meatballs from each continent! ... or... porridge?
Love fried chicken, thanks for this. Odd that you say chicken parm was originally a UK dish and is a popular pub dish because as a 55 year old brit, I have genuinely never seen this, not even heard about it until probably my thirties or fourties when I heard about this American chicken parm dish. Born in 68, growing up in the eighties, if you were going to get chicken, it would be chicken in a basket”, a very basic roasted or fried plain chicken thigh with chips in a crappy plastic ‘basket’ like dish. Even something like a breaded chicken schnitzel isn’t really that widespread. I really started seeing them as regularly available when I moved to germany for work. Anyway otherwise thanks as always for the fun content!
Korean gochujang fried chicken is the best fried chicken I've ever had, after my grandma's. Lol Y'all have no idea how happy I was when EVERYONE was making it on every food channel.
"we kept the wings whole which is my favorite way to eat it" *splits wing before eating*
I'd love to see the best noodle dish from every continent. It'll be damn hard to pick for that one
GMM going out of their way to avoid Australia is reaching the same level as "American's will measure with absolutely anything to avoid using metric".
As a Brit I have never heard of or seen that "British" chicken before
