Oscar Isaac is such a good addition to the MCU, his facal expressions when he comes in and out is so awesome.
I’m still in disbelief we got freaking Oscar Isaac in the mcu, I recently watched Ex Machina and he’s so damn good in that, also Dune and so on
facial (small typo)
He's AMAZING!
I don't care how stupid it sounds, but Steven standing in his doorway holding a heart took me right back to the opening and the description of mummification, and needing the heart to yadda yadda. That was fantastic imagery.
Good catch! I agree that was intentional symbolism. Ancient Egyptians believe the soul resided in the heart.
@@CMKseven That is a vast oversimplification. They believed the part of you that was the seat of the "moral" (like order vs chaos) part of your soul was in your heart. They believe your soul and body had like 9 parts in total and even your body after death was like a part they had to remove put together with a part that leaves when you die. Its incredibly complicated and also changed over the different parts of their civilization. Even before the pharoahs it was incredibly complex.
Maybe the reason they keep steven as a personality is because he is the heart
@@funfunfun3624 lol, the heart is the part that makes the decisions. Which is why it's judged. If anything it would be his Shadow, becuase the other ones clearly represent his effectiveness, his name recognition, his magic/intellect and his physical capacity. Egyptian mythology isn't big on feelgoods, compassion, madness or ignorance.
@@funfunfun3624 Love that. Just love it.
I'd never heard of this character before this show, but this first episode is already making me like him. Moon Knight's costume looks amazing! I'm excited to see what happens next. Thanks for the reaction!
I'm impressed with Oscar Isaac's acting. The last thing I saw him in was in Dune where he played Duke Leto Atreides. He's a completely different person here. Wow!
Check out his other movies - he's so talented!
I didn't even recognize him from Ex Machina or Annihilation. He looks different in everything he plays, which is unusual in such a handsome charismatic actor.
Just a little bit of vocabulary about DID/OSDD :
A system = Many people inside one brain, one body
An alter = Someone living inside a system (we don't say personality)
Fronting = Taking the front (control of the body)
Switch = When an alter leave the front and another one take the front.
Dissociation = Feeling of being distant from oneself. Come usually (but not always) before a switch.
Not being offended, but I see you're struggling with the words. Thought I'd help, even if I'm a singlet (not a system. There's only one person, me, inside my brain). I do have many friends from lots of different DID/OSDD systems though. I'm open to answer questions.
I have DID and to me it’s just people my subconscious created to cope or past personalities that Ive held on to I’ve had eight personalities for six years but now have seven because I lost my five year old self a few months ago since then I’ve had more control over my triggers except for when I’m highly stressed or see my parents
You don't have friends with one of the rarest psychological conditions there is. Stop it. Go outside.
@@tadcooper9733 Rarest?? That's 1% to 3% of the population that have either DID or OSDD. Go inform yourself!
@@tadcooper9733 It’s very common don’t pull information out of your ass unless you want to look like an idiot anyone as a child that wasn’t able to fully find there identity is likely to develop DID
What I love about this is how much sense the villain makes. If Khonshu can have a human avatar on Earth, then why shouldn't the other gods be able to as well? And Arthur being fully committed because he truly believes Amit's judgment will guarantee protection from human-committed tragedies as long as someone acts upon it... definitely an antivillain, the best kind of villain. Plus, the way Amit's judgment failed on Steven, because he's innocent but Marc, in the same body, is not, so there's not one simple answer to whether he's innocent overall... brilliant.
As someone who knows literally nothing about Moon Knight this was a good first episode and I’m excited to see what happens next since I’m guessing we’ll start off with some moon knight action next week after that ending
I have a feeling episode 2 will be a replay of episode 1 but in Marc Specter's point of view showing all the moments Steven passed out.
@@cpu1639 oooo that’s a good shout actually
@@cpu1639 maybe, but there's also only 6 episodes. Not a whole lot of time to mess around experiencing things from both prospectives
@@thathighguy6980 But maybe it isn't moving too forward.
@@cpu1639 that don't even make sense. Like, what are you even saying with that sentence?
I loved this. I’m also glad a lot of the stuff from the trailers was in this first episode. Allows most of the rest of the show to be a surprise. Oscar is sooo good.
I always love when trailers use mostly first episode footage. I hope the show stays this good.
im glad marvel are going more instense with their shows now even with the comedy
and the violence
@@metelineblue294 Fr this first episode had more blood than quite a few of the recent MCU properties combined.
@@user-to6fy9of9e that's what I said too!
I really liked the symmetry of Mark saving Steven, physically, but Steven also (seemingly) saving Mark (from judgment…cause we know Steven is sweet and timid but Mark is clearly violent).
VERY interesting! I originally took it as; since he was under the "grace" of Khonsu already(and essentially can't die) he was exempt from judgment, BUT I think your right about Steven's pure heart offsetting Marc's bloodied past.
I think another aspect is that due to there technically being 3 to 5 people in the body they confuse the scale as to whose to judge
@@eugene12310mobile I did think about that…I do agree that, not knowing how it works, that’s totally possible. But I came down thinking Steven helped tip the scales a different way because it seems even if there were 3 alters, if they were all bad, they’d all weigh bad. Here it’s clear he and Marc are different, and he’s the innocent one of the two, so all the personalities would not all go the same way. But, that’s of course just my theory and you may also be right.
@@eugene12310mobile Only 3.
@@danbalares4818 for now, sure. But there is an average of 5. Jake Lockley the cab driver persona and Mr. Knight, some sort of Whistleblower/Confidant of authorities
At the end when that creature was trying to escape but he pulled it back in to finish kicking it's ass 😂
It gave me vibes from the second Ace Ventura movie when Ace was beating up the crocodile lol. "Oh no you don't. Don't start what you can't finish!" Haha
As someone who does not know much about this character and did not read the comics, I absolutely loved this! Oscar Isaac's acting was phenomenal 👏
Like in that part, when they make us see Steven's memories when the lights go out, it was something....sick and spectacular!
The idea of Ammit(Ammut) being good or bad is interesting since, while certainly scary, they are usually portrayed as neutral.
Man, I can see Ghost Rider,Werewolf and MoonKnight suit up together 🔥
75% of the people watching this aren't subscribed?? Ludicrous! C'mon guys, click the button. This is outstanding content. You already know it is or you wouldn't keep coming back.
I need another episode right now, dammit!
What a first episode!!
I loved everything about it.
Steven Grant is such a tortured soul, and I adore him.
Ethan Hawke as a villain was surprising to see.
I don't care that we saw Moon Knight for, like, 15 seconds. That ending was badass.
Can't wait for more!
"you mean the anime..." man just open a whole can of worms there 😂
"Later, gators." A two-headed gator on a certain cane...
"There's chaos in you." Steven, meet Wanda...
I'm American so idk of Steven's accent is normal or not,, but I do think Oscar Isaac did say he purposely made it sound weird. Also I loved how they did the scenes of him transitioning into Marc then it time jumps to after he's whooped them
This episode was quite an adventure & hilarious.
It's a completely different vibe to the rest of the MCU shows, but I really enjoyed it. The slow burn may turn people off but if you can get past that there's a lot of cool stuff to take in here.
Glad Oscar is playing this. He is so good. I am completely new to this character and it is very refreshing to know nothing beforehand.
And I didn't even notice that there was no intro for the episode until the outro came.
Pilot episodes often don't have an intro. I assume we will get one in episode 2.
Moon Knight was the first physical comic I ever read, I was at a random KOA in Kansas and they sold comics and I just liked the look of Moon Knight and he was the only one I didn't recognize (They only had a Batman and Spiderman comic besides Moon Knight) became a really big fan of him, and I'm really excited about the "TV" show.
Really enjoyed this. a lot. I dont think its THAT different to standard mcu shows or movies as much as people are saying-despite the horror and psycho drama influences it feels firmly entrenched in the mcu formula of comedy and action and centred around forward momentum in plot, but it IS very good and definitely seems to have established its own strong identity within the formula. It is definitely part of the formula I thought, but like with most of the other mcu shows thus far, is taking some stylistic and genre influences to further levels than it would have been allowed as a mainline movie. I forsee this one getting critical reviews who feel it doesnt live up to a certain level of darkness and substance character wise, but i also can tell its going to be less of an issue with fandom in general- taking another guess, I imagine fans will dig the even mixture of indiana jones, psychodrama and comedy and it will become quite a fan favourite. Oscar Isaac is phenomenal in this so far - he sells the dramatic dissociative moments and the borderline slapstick comedy moments EQUALLY as well. another plus point is the direction and editing which seem frequently quite novel and fun, very well done on that front.
I also love the fact there are no MCU references at all. They will undoubtedly come in time via passing references to events or whatnot, but i do like the fact its taking the time to set up its own story first and foremost.
I was watching this episode and I didn't feel like I was watching Marvel. It has so different vibe than other MCU shows or movies.
There's something still about it that feels MCU but like an interesting evolution to MCU as opposed to, for example, the Netflix Marvel vibes. It makes for a fantastic bit of potential for phase 4.
It is kinda like daredevil and Wandavision combined that’s the vibe I’m getting from it

Your compassionate view towards "flawed" characters is why I stay a subscriber. A lot of reviewers/reactors are tearing Steven apart. I so appreciate your kindness ❤
This is when Marvel gets darker with Oscar Isaac as Steven who suffers from a form of insomnia. When he comes across a mysterious scarab emblem it grants him the capacity to time jumping
This was an amazing first episode!!!
I’m surprised you would cut out the reveal of moonnight at the end, when he turns around and you see the suit. Loving this show so far, I’m new to this character.
I found the start very interesting and different, we get here an origin story of a different kind, so to speak. Because Steven is actually only a small supporting character and Marc the main character. We don't get the origin from Marc or Moon Knight, but from Steven. It's something different. I think it's good.
I like Steven Grant being just a dude and not a millionaire like Bruce Wayne. Grounds the character and gives us as the viewer the perfect in the this world
4:58 That's look like Doctor Doom's castle 👀
it is not called Split personality or multiplier Personality disorder any more it is now called Dissociative Identity Disorder or DiD. and it is when a person, most likely a kid goes through repeated trauma and the mind can't handle it anymore so the brain creates an alter to protect itself from harm. and that alter is know as a protector. But, the alters do have real memories and they are also real people.
This was a good way of showing how involuntary alter changes are. For what I know about DiD, you can really lose days even when one of you alters decides to front. Seems Steven is a fairly new-ish alter so whatever happened to Marc to make Steven take over for so long must’ve pretty large trauma (which alters are born/created which is through Massive trauma). I appreciate the fact they (the host and alters) Haven’t made an “Evil” alter yet. Again DiD is about managing trauma not causing it. Yes, some alters (known as Protecters) can be rougher on the outside ( aka in front while the host is in the mind). But, never straight-up causing problems on purpose only to protect the host and the other alters. And Marc is the host as for Steven he is the one who is the most out aka in front so he can have some social life.
this show is sooo up my alley. i love everything about so far.
When Ethan hawkes character used the scars on Steven I thought it wouldn’t work bc Steven was in control and was a “good”person, and not Marc who’s the one killing people.
Oscar is so freaking good.
Always great to see you pop up in my notifications whenever a new show drops. Loved the episode and loved the reaction.
Introduced werewolf by night moon knight trained as a boxer before he joined the army. Stephen in the comics is a playboy but now he works at a museum. Two reflections on the period could be marc and jake with Stephen. A lot of reflections from mirrors I love it. The bob dylan song was a nice touch. Y’all see the crocodiles everywhere lol ammit from Egyptian mythology. The theme of waking up is there but really Stephen has did dissociative identity disorder. He has sand around his bed. He has a goldfish that have been said to have bad memories funny enough Stephen has trouble with his memory. Notice the scale tattoo Arthur has in the Egyptian afterlife a person heart is weighed to see if they had been good or bad. That song was sampled for big pimpin lol.
in the last washroom scene the back mirror reflection and the side mirror reflection are different personalities !
I'm hoping that episode two will be from Mark's perspective on mission, replacement of the fish, tossing up weather or not to clip the gimpy fin on the fish.
If marvel is starting to embrace the whole violent superhero trend, then i worry about what the fuck James Gunn is gonna do to GOTG
He's already said that there's going to be a number of deaths in the next gardiens of the galaxy movie I have a feeling that everyone except Gamora, Groot and Mantis is gonna die, hopefully their deaths will be epic and gruesome.
Every time I hear Mark I think of oh hi Mark from the room movie lol
Steven Grant is my favourite new MCU D plus character, there is something so wholesome (and a bit sexy) about him.
Real ogs remember that old marvel game “marvel ultimate alliance” that’s the only reason Ik moonknight 😭
Change of Scenario
and scenes and places outside new york
this is some big big budget for a series
i guess marvel and disney putting some
7 digits in ther
The booming voice was Konshu, voiced by F. Murray Abraham. Loved this show and this premiere to a series as much as my tops, Wandavision.
I think it must be in Austria or Germany (The Alpes) because on the Cupcake truck you can read in German "Lieferung", it means "delivery". Greetz from Germany
It's Germany. You can see a Deutsche Post office in the village.
Most likelly Latveria (fictionnal Dr Doom country)
IT HAS BEGAN!!!!! Love the dark tone of this series so far!!!! Enjoyed the reaction 🙏🏽💪
Oscar Isaac stole the episode, along with Disgruntled Uncle Khonshu.
The 1st voice is the God
I went in hoping to love this and I was still blown away. Such a fantastic first episode. Only thing that bothered me was he put his smart phone down to ask the waiter what day it was 😅.
I know not everyone will agree, but I appreciated the cut scenes of Steven fading out and back, thus leaving out the visceral violence and just leaving Steven to deal with the ramifications. Almost slapstick in application, I find it more entertaining than intense combat sequences that would leave Steven's return way too jarring.
I agree it really emphasized that we are watching stevens point of view
14:02 GET OVER HERE!!!!!
I find Donna hilarious!!🤣🤣🤣 Thumbs up for Lucy Thackeray, she nails that caracter😅
Actually I think it might be Latveria, and Doctor Doom's castle. I think they are going to slowly tease his character like they did with Thanos.
Very good that's a Jackal
He got his own god that telling him to surrender the body to mark lol and the glass slippers got his own like you said or something lol. I'm not putting no glass in my slippers lol.
Seeing him break down inside after he missed his date was the saddest shit ever.
7:48 How is Steven the parasite, when it's _his_ body 🤨?
It sais something when you make supernatural creatures try to get away from you!
I love the Avatar Last Airbender reference because I just finished it watching for the first time and my reactions are fresh
So far so good
The names on the shops in the town in the Alps where in German, so Austria, Switzerland or Germany.
Yayyyyy moon knight. Can't wait for next episode. Yeah join the family. Cool background. So many Easter eggs everywhere. This show is so unique from opening to ending. Comedy definitely similar to venom movie talking to voice in his head and even gets called parasite at one point. Awesome car chase. Love that song. Love the flashes and how we switching personalities but just following this one lol. Next ones well see Mark's lol I bet lol. Ill surrender my body to mark. Maybe more willingly if instead of mark the name is Vanessa lol. Ill surrender my body to her lol. She's something of a goddess herself. She looks like she could be a Egyptian goddess lol.
The US Agent scene was pretty graphic.
I've watched the episode 4 times already 😅 its so good!
I can't wait for the next episode 😁
Oo yayy!! The first episode is out!! I have to watch it when I get home. 😁
Its only six episodes man that's gonna be over in no time. At least that's what I thought but man when is episode two dropping lol. I wanna surrender my eyes to this show again lol.
The whole multiple personalities thing reminds me of that show legion but this is way better lol.
Oscar Issac did such a good English accent, flawless. It fooled me and I'm English
Interesting thing with the Goldfish. It's not Gus but it's in Gus's place just like what happens to Steven when he switches with someone.
Nice to see this season to have more mature action between this and the Halo TV show.
Everyone on Facebook keeps talking about morbius. Im like morbius who? What about moonknight this is awesome lol. Best pilot ever. Everything is perfect. Mark gonna remind me of Jason Bourne I think lol. This dude is like Jason Bourne when he didn't remember anything and start kicking butt on instinct like training takes over then he goes back to normal and looking around like wtf lol
Don't know much. When they first announced the show someone had a video that summed up character and history like he'd Batman and dead pool together lol. But that wad long time ago lol. Forgot about this. But out of the two things I didn't ask for this was way better. Haven't seen morbius but I think this is better lol. Yeah Wanda vision lol. Wanda looking wicked in the multi verse of madness lol. More blood lol
Left the entire opening out
Oscar Isaac just Killin it ... and I don't even like this episode....but Oscar and Ethan...... Are killing this shit
Man I will be honest, for all man get heartbreaking by girl In every movie that I witnesses, that moment I see Steven face,I can't😥😥. Steven such a nice and humble person 😔
Yayyyyy can't wait. More moon knight lol. Yayyyyy can't wait lol.
Marvel is getting a bit aggressive and i like it
if this is episode one. imagine episode 5 and 6. 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey. Is that the same museum Dean works at? I predict Bernthal shows up in ep 5😮?
i love these Disney plus shows but Disney is confusing the hell out of me. they re edited the zemo killing nergal or what ever his name was to having no blood and not even a bullet hole. yet as far as I'm aware the john walker decapitating a guy and blood on the shield is still there. then their is this. I love all of it but i am so confused by their logic. ( does this show still show up on disney plus if you turn off the tv ma option)
Yayyyyy can't wait lol
This is going to tricky he’s gotta figure things out fast so he can fight because he’s got alot of people after him
I want watch this on patreon, but then there is nothing else there I would like to watch unedited, so I am not doing it. And that is the case for most all other reaction channels.
Love this!! I feel bad for Steven, xD
Marc Specter main character bad dude its cool introduced Steven first.Deauchamp name on phone Moonknights Alfred in comics
Reminds me of Mr.Robot, but it’s more exciting
I think his mom is dead and that's why she isn't returning his calls.
Wait a minute, is he jumping through different realities? 1st the fish has one fin, then 2. And the girl said all the fishes there have 2 fins. Plus he’s missing some time, his date was 2 days ago.
No, he has some form of dissiociative identity disorder (DID). His mind is "splitted" into differents personnalities (alters)
There is Steven and Marc (and probably others we don't know yet). Steven is in the dark when Marc is in control (seems like Marc has at least some level of awerness all the time). Hence the time jumps and amnesia from Steven's point of view.
Steven didn't set the date with Dylan, it was Marc imperonating him (a relativelly common thing with people with DID).
Same with the fish. He probably starved to death during their 2 days "trip" so he bought another one before giving back control to Steven
Is this the most violent Marvel show on Disney Plus? So far. And it’s PG 13
Lets beat that algorithm lol. Like comment subscribe lol. Yayyyyy especially for awesome moonknight. Whens the new episode coming out lol. I've Got the shakes and the itches I need another episode of moon knight lol.
watch castle rock
Who’s that voice?
Churr
🌙✨👍💫✌️😎
For clarity:
Steven grant is not real. Marc Spector is. Marc was a former CIA agent turned mercenary who was killed in Sudan by another mercenary. He died in front of the khonshu (marvels creation of the Egyptian moon god) statue and was resurrected as khonshus servant
