I loved how Mr. Knight clearly had supernatural strength and endurance and even some extra confidence, but no idea whatsoever how to fight. It allows some space for that portion of the character to grow and learn and become more useful, while still having his own niche.
Exactly, I saw a few people complain about Mr. Knight's inaccuracy to the comics, but it's obvious that we're going to get Mr. Knight to be developed more and more over time
@@leojs5673 Yep, he has the full power set but the difference is that Moon Knight knows how to to use the powers, whereas Mr. Knight doesn't yet. I don't think he'll ever become the fighter that Moon Knight is since they've set up this dichotomy of Marc/Moon Knight vs. Steven/Mr. Knight, and so much of Marc's background is centered around violence. But I could definitely see Mr. Knight getting a little better over time at defending himself and using the powers in his own unique ways.
@@Duckverse I wouldn't say it's an inaccuracy when it's a deliberate artistic choice to deviate from it. I like how Mr. Knight is in the comics but I like this one too.
You know, the conflict between punishing someone for an act they WILL commit VS punishing someone for an act they DID commit reminds me a TON about the conflict that Daredevil and Punisher had in regards to killing criminals so they don’t commit crimes again VS giving them a chance to redeem themselves in the show.
Honestly, a big factor in it is how fallible the predictions are. If it's a 100% guarantee, no room for error, that someone will hurt others, that's quite different from "will probably hurt others" when deciding if preventative capital punishment is just.
Soon we'll see Jakes suit, and I guess it was Jake who asked the girl out to go eat stake, cause mark is married so he won't ask her on a date, most likely his third personality might have
I had my stuff in a storage facility like that last year. I refused to go at night as it scared the crap out of me. Did the exact same thing with the lights, it was a horror movie waiting to happen 😂
This was a great episode! I loved Marc's transformation into his suit. I feel bad for Steven, he's just trying to live his life. Can't wait to see what happens next! Thanks for the reaction!
At 2:20 the framing of the fight impressed me too! Here we'd seen a creature of supernatural speed and agility unable to elude Moon Knight and get stomped and punched 3 times. The last punch caved that thing's chest in. How do we know? From the way Moon Knight sank down into the final blow as though he'd broken through some kind of barrier. I loved that they left some things to our imaginations and let the framing and sound effects carry the scene. It was darker for it. If this is how Disney is going to do violence, where it's suggested and we fill in the blanks in the theaters of our minds, I don't dislike it.
17:43 it's the Mr. Knight costume. They changed its reason to be/purpose from the comics but I think I like it. It lets Steven get in on the action a bit.
Very solid second episode! Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke are killing it. May Calamaway as Layla is great. I freaking LOVE Steven Grant so much. That brief moment with Mr. Knight is so cool. I need more with him. That "argument" between Marc and Steven was heartbreaking. Can't wait for next week's episode.
So, I guess Marc was also feeling guilty about the things he does and Steven was created as a sort of penance? Sounds like Marc intended to finish the "one last job" for Khonshu and then was going to just let Steven be permanent and allow himself to fade away.
Have to say I'm enjoying the show. I've seen a few people saying that they don't like Steven and that he should now fade away, but I don't agree with that.
DID probably devoloped in Marc before the age of 12 due to repetitive trauma he experienced. An adult cannot develop true DID because of trauma experienced as a fully functional adult How DID is formed; Traumatic events + a child that hasn't formed their own identity/personality + REPETITIVE DISASSOCIATION = DID
Good reaction, and I really liked your comments at the end. How far will they go in showing the moral complexity of the characters? That will be interesting to see. This is one area where it's very not-Indiana Jones -- good and evil there were very easy to determine. Also, I'm no expert on DID either, but I have read that some people do not see it as a disorder. And, as you say, real DID and the fictional/superhero/deity version may well be very different.
You said that people who read the comics would know what to expect from the shows. Not really ahah. Unlike some other MCU stories (usually the best ones like Winter Soldier, No Way Home, WandaVision etc.) that borrows loosely from one particular comic story arc, I think this series isn't based on any particular Moonknight story. There's a few Easter eggs (like the name of the two cops in that episode, they have the same name as two minions of Ammit in the Jeff Lemire' story. So I knew they worked for Harrow before we saw their tattoo). And the general lore is the same. What Khonshu hinted at in this episode is pretty much how it happened in the comics. Khonshu uses the "I resurrected you, so you're mine" thing to manipulate Marc into doing his bidding like in the comics. The rest is pretty different from any of the stories I'm aware of so far. Steven usually doesn't get to be Moonknight or even Mr. Knight. Layla is new, but they loosely borrowed from Marlene's character to make her. Layla might be French and she's an archeologist (she's the Indiana Jones type here ahah). We'll see if the archeologist the cops said Marc killed was Layla's father or not. I'm sure Marc didn't kill him. They said that to frame Marc. Marc defended him in the comics and that's how he got killed.
I had to laugh at the lights in the storage place. I had just watched Morbius a couple hours before I watch this episode, and they did almost the exact same thing with the lights quickly turning on down the hall with nothing there, like something invisible was running down the hall.
I think the question of the judgement criteria is the most important. Depending on how the second dimension of time's cause an effect works theorhetically Kang or he who remains has imposed some form of stability on the timeline. So while you may believe you are experiencing a stream of conscious free will or there may be some chance of quantum perturbations in how his stability and enforcement work - there is a decided order of fate that can be read by Ammit. When to cut that tether and what constitutes sin are the relevant factors at that point I believe, as well as the margin for error because just because people like to believe they can choose their own destiny is sort of irrelevant to what the nature of reality is.
16:40 @Omn1Media, JB probably didn't--he's too busy watching otters, lol. Once he found out that the plumbing issues were tied to Steven, he likely stopped watching the surveillance videos. The others can see Arthur, so they likely saw what looks like a man knelling with his cane, seemingly praying. Are people unable to see what's there because they don't believe in Egyptian gods or because the gods themselves are shielding themselves? Steven couldn't see Khonshu at first either, but little by little he could.
Rewatch when he's being transported in the beginning.. the music is similar to The Force Awakens beginning scene. Same tone, same brass.. I could be off but it stuck in my head watching it.
For dissociative identity disorder I know that irl people with it some of their personalities can be aware of the others whereas some others might not be like with Marc and Steven Marc was aware that Steven existed but Steven was unaware that Marc did as for how they switch between irl I’m not sure
As for how the switch...it's very unrealistic. Some systems do have physical tells like excessive blinking or yawning or touching their face...but eyes rolling back is not a thing. It's a very covert disorder so the signs are not extremely obvious. You have to know the system well and know what to look for to be able to tell when a switch happens.
@@JBWinter yeah. And that happens as well. Not all the time but can, for sure. Switches are usually triggered by something. In this case, Steven being in danger. In Stevens day to day...he wasn't in danger at his job. And so these switches and blackouts during the day are unusual to him. That makes sense.
@@AnxietyRat so basically the fact they switch during high stress situations is realistic, but the eyes rolling back isn’t Tbh, I kinda expected that but thats still cool to hear
