In Romanian we have a lot of words/names that end with “i” but it’s slightly deceiving bc it’s not meant to be a hard “ee” sound always - in Comăneci’s case it’s mostly just there to create the “ch” sound with the “c” that comes before it (same with David Popovici’s name)
