VTR was 4/15, but if they were celebrating Jo Ann's birthday, the air date was May 2, which that year was her 34th birthday and she will be celebrating her 78th birthday in a few weeks...
Jo Ann was on this show a few times. I think she is very classy. I would assume she informed Rayburn not to kiss her on the lips. Otherwise he would have tried giving her a birthday kiss on the lips.
Today Jo Ann scored her 7th head-to-head match! This moves her up above Charles and close to Betty. Here's the updated accuracy leader board for the 7 celebs to have scored 3 or more matches so far: Orson - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Betty - 50% (8 wins in 16 attempts). Jo Ann - 46.7% (7 out of 15 attempts). Charles - 42.9% (6 wins in 14 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Richard - 28.9% (22 wins in 76 attempts). Brett - 22.2% (4 wins in 18 attempts). *Since this is episode 200, it's time for a little recap:* Here are the celebs with 2 matches (in alphabetical order): Bill Daily 2 out of 2 tries (100%) Ann Elder 2 out of 3 tries (66.7%) Stu Gilliam 2 out of 5 tries (40%) Jack Klugman 2 out of 5 tries (40%). 12 more celebs have achieved one head-to-head match (in alphabetical order): Morey Amsterdam 1 out of 2 attempts Jack Carter 1 out of 2 Fannie Flagg 1 out of 5 Carolyn Jones 1 out of 1 Michael Landon 1 out of 2 June Lockhart 1 out of 1 Allen Ludden 1 out of 2 Madlyn Rhue 1 out of 2 Loretta Switt 1 out of 2 Richard Thomas 1 out of 2 Bobby Van 1 out of 2 Jo Anne Worley 1 out of 1 And here are all the other celebs who have been chosen so far without matching (in alphabetical order): Lucie Arnaz - chosen 1 time Kay Ballard - chosen 1 time Bob Barker - chosen 2 times Larry Blyden - chosen 1 time Joyce Bulifant - chosen 1 time Jack Cassidy - chosen 2 times Bill Cullen - chosen 1 time Stephanie Edwards - chosen 2 times Nanette Fabray - chosen 2 times Arlene Francis - chosen 1 time Dick Gautier - chosen 1 time Larry Hovis - chosen 1 time Ruta Lee - chosen 1 time Robert Q. Pretty good week this week with Jo Ann winning for the semi regulars giving away 13,250 dollars in head to head and audience match matches with 15 matches. Richard gave away 6,250 dollars in head to head and audience match matches with 17 matches for the regulars. Charles gave away 500 dollars in an audience match match.
Debbie looks like Melissa Mars from Match Game PM - who also happens to look like Olivia Hussey who played Juliet. Why do so many California brunettes in the 70s look so similar?

Everytime I hear Johnny Olson announce the game by saying, "Get ready to match the stars!" I feel like he's going to say, "Get ready to rumble!" I don't know why.
I'm so stoked to see Debbie's first show, she's my favorite contestant of them all. Gene actually does an excellent Don Adams/ Maxwell Smart impressions as well as Count Dracula. I'm really disappointed that Debbie chose to go with Buck Jones, makes me feel that she did it because Richard suggested it
I don't get why folks went out of their minds over what equals $20k in today's money. A nice payday, sure, but it's not gonna change your life. Especially after taxes.
Few people were expecting something that would change their lives in the sense I think you mean. This was before the era of multimillion-dollar lottery pay-outs began. People just looked for something that would get them over a hurdle, such as a down payment on a house, which would still change a person's life.
I was thinking that too, but then I asked my dad how much he paid for our family home in 1972. It was only 16K, and we lived in a nice suburb. So I guess 5K was a lot of money back then.

Air date of May 2nd, 1974 possibly?
But, at the beginning, the said air date was still TBD.
True
Jo Ann Pflug looks great in that T-shirt.
She looks good in any T shirt.
@Seven Inches of Throbbing Pink Jesus lol
Jo Ann gave the most money this past two weeks on the head to head Match.
21:20 LOL Charles is the best!
I watch this show when I can't sleep 😕
Me too.
@@pencils812 and me too
There are few shows I watch when asleep
Me too!
I would have liked to have done what was on Fannie's shirt with Fannie and Jo Ann. Woo-Hoo.
Haha I am very surprised that shirt got past the CBS censors!
I have lost count how many times gene has said that's very unusual for a 1st round it happens all the time and he says it all the time
I love that Mary exclaimed, “I love you all!!” as she spun away. It was a very Joan Crawford moment.
The dueling Don Adams impersonations were a hoot!
Debbie is still alive and still gorgeous.
Simone Guzman How do you know? Tried to google her name and nothing came up...

Jo Ann's on a ROLL!! (glad it's her and not saint Richard)

So many beauties back in the day.. back before they essentially opened the border - the California girls left
Well I wonder how many of what is on Fannie's t-shirt she participated in? haha
I'm finding it hard to get over the fact that 5th Avenue candy bars used to be made by the Luden's cough drop people.
Today I have been mostly eating spuds 😊
Nerdy answer for the Maxwell Smart _____finger question: Pyrite Finger (Fool's Gold)
Not a good answer because no one would ever say it. 😅
Scorchio 😊
I am guessing that Gene and the sound guy both have headaches and are deaf now that the champ scream in their ears, the microphone.. ;0)
not enough time to start another game
Nearly every question can be answered with bra or body part names! LOL
I know! Like on Family Feud , no matter what the question, “making love” is always the number 3 answer!
Panelists:
1. Ron Masak
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Jo Anne Phlug
5. Richard Dawson
6. Fannie Flagg
I'd love to know the chain of custody of the question cards.
Gene needed to have his hearing checked.
I'm surprised no one said 'middle finger'.
and Buck naked.
davidrbecken -- that woulda been my answer.
and both phrases are used: Buck and Butt Naked
Good one.
Me? I have to fight freaks like Butterfinger
Still better than facing off against Smelly.
Lol!
Donna was a very classy contestant. So sweet. Her $15,000 in winnings is the equivalent of $90,000 in 2022.. Still a lot of money

Buck Jones? Really?

Jo Ann Pflug married?
Everytime I hear Johnny Olson announce the game by saying, "Get ready to match the stars!" I feel like he's going to say, "Get ready to rumble!" I don't know why.
I think that Richard meant to say Buck Owens
He might have, but there was a Buck Jones, a cowboy star in the '20's, '30's, and '40's.
I'm so stoked to see Debbie's first show, she's my favorite contestant of them all. Gene actually does an excellent Don Adams/ Maxwell Smart impressions as well as Count Dracula. Hated to see Donna go, great contestant and a beautiful woman!
What does Fannie's shirt say?
Did the first contestant who won thousands play karen carpenter in the made for TV movie ?
Why is Brett so often without her glasses?
I wonder what happened to Brett at 15:44 she sounded like she was mad about something.
Rayburn was a jerk but oh that Joann m-m-m-m-m
You mean Gene wa a classy guy & a great host for the s show

Are you kidding? U could buy a house for 30k back then.. 5k is more like 50k today .. rent was 200 a month.. many won 15k to 20k on the show
Make allowance for inflation, dumbass!!!

@@JAWrightonline Bite me, Mr. Knowitall. I did allow for inflation. Why do you think I said "...what amounts to $20k in today's money."?
