I dunno if anyone shares the same feelings I do, but this music is so beautiful and nostalgic, it makes me want to cry, remembering the good old days of PC gaming. Matt Uelmen and everyone else at Blizzard at the time were simply amazing, saying they had a passion for what they were doing is a tremendous understatement. They were nothing but pure talent. I love all their old games and soundtracks so goddamn much. I hope someone else out there feels this way.

Back then, a game like this was just a staggering event. The atmosphere and the feeling of playing it was something that can never be replicated because in all reality, the world is a different place now. This was just magic then--everything aligned in just the right way to blow our minds and all of us who experienced it are very lucky indeed.

D3 had a completely different atmosphere just in general and it really bummed me out. The music in D2 was amazing. The story went up its own ass in D3.
d3 had a 6 y old for writer and a composer who probably had his entire family kidnapped by tencent to compose soundtrack as safe as possible. lets not even compare a good game to a garbage.

Nothing is over produced, but they still managed to clean it up and make it sound perfect and totally captured the dark, foreboding feel I think the devs wanted to create with this game. Something completely lost in 3. Let's hope 4 is good. Otherwise, I'm likely to never purchase another title from Blizzard again.
I remembered when I felt like a bad ass on my necromancer with bone shield, a skeletal army, and life regen. All damage blocked, all health regenerated, all enemies killed. Then I met the electric beetles. :
Man this game had a lot of good music actually, but this is why D2 will always be and still is my favorite arpg of all time. The music/graphics/game itself are just timeless and unique. The game is just memorable and fun they accidentally struck gold.
If I'm not mistaken, the track from 0:00 to 2:34 can only be heard from "Canyon of Magi", a desolated desert where all the tombs of Tal Rasha are located, NOT just an ordinary desert of Act II.

If i'm feeling killer-nostalgia then you must be slowly dying from the poison of time. System Shock 2. the game must have loaded with error. the mission was to find 9 vials of green stuff, but I could only find 8. as I scowered the ship for the 9th one, the anguish caused by the Many and the Midwives and their soliloquies had me almost fainting. I stopped the game, reinstalled it after a while, it loaded all 9 vials, and I was able to finish the mission fast. also, King Pin.
I'd say diablo and baal definitely are NOT that scary. What makes diablo a bit tough is the fact that he has the demon circle thing which spawns upgraded demons from each act. Same goes to Baal, before going into the second world and fighting the actual him, you fight upgraded version of spawns from each act
Simply one of the best of all time. A composition so good if transcends the underrated genre of “video game music”. One of those songs you play for someone who doesn’t play games or isn’t familiar with D2/LoD, they get goosebumps and ask “wow! That was amazing, where does it come from?” And the look of disappointment on their face when you tell them from one of the greatest games ever made. Simple minds.

I would sometimes sit in Lut Gholein, when you move over to Act 2 and just sit there.. and listen to this song for a couple minutes. That's how good the music was in this game, even as a dumb kid

I felt like I didn't know what to expect, and all hell could break loose on me any time. There's also perhaps a sense of urgency, because you were hoping to get to Tal Rasha and Baal before Diablo. The music conveyed this feeling so well.
...And I would know, having had a level 76 hardcore bonespear necro... believe he had 30 on bone spear when he finally died. Best character I ever played. But I still love the dual wield barb, especially early on in the game before damage becomes a problem.
nah the biggest threat was not twinking ur char with sigs, but having someone in sigs run up and go nuts on em while everyone else run around like wtf stop~!

It both helps and hurts to be a Necromancer fighting against them. You can use you armies to keep them away from you, but they always end up dying from the Electric Bolts they crap out every time (and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME) you hit them. It can also help tonnes if you have high damage bone spells to slay their asses with.
Ah, dual wield barb with Crystal/Phase/Dimensional blades would steadily dice his way through those damnable maggot tunnels. Leap helped a great deal too :)

They were only a pain if you didn't have lightning resist. Otherwise they were easy trash.
