Listening to this soundtrack on a surround sound setup with low lights, just enjoying the memories and feelings, is almost a transcendental experience. Memories from simpler, better times, filled with excitement, adventure, without a single worry for mundane problems.

This introduction song to D2:LOD reminds me of being in 7th and 8th grade during the summer. Sitting playing D2 upstairs and looking outside watching the sunset, knowing I was about to spend the next 6 hours playing my favorite game of all-time, with amazing friends I met online. One of the best feelings man.
Not only the game but the soundtracks what made this game unforgettable. Man, experiencing this game as a kid... and still nothing came close to that feeling.
Back when blizzard music was eerie, mesmerizing, and utterly memorable. Topnotch quality in fx/sound effects too. Nothing will ever come close to the first two games in this franchise.
56:11 Lyrics translation Harem: I bow to the one who has lotus in her hand, has a pleasant happy face, who gives good fortune and destiny, gives refuge (fearlessness) with her hand (posture), who is adorned with lots of gems and other ways, who gives the very much desired fruits to the devotees, is attended upon by viShNu, shiva, brahmA and others, behind whom are lotus, conch and other opulence and who is always with power.
Diablo 2 is the best, while Diablo 1 remains the darkest and true horror of all time.....D3 can go fuck itself, D4 better not fuck up(so far as of this date, it looks to be just another updated D3)
damn, i played this game for hundreds of hours during school and after that i wrote my bachelor thesis to this soundtrack, then i wrote my master thesis to this soundtrack and now i am still playing that game every evening. Diablo 2 is more than just a game for me, that is a life changer.
haha i can totally relate. i m just writing my master thesis to this and so I did with my bachelor ;) its the right sound to keep excitement but also gives you chills
The soundtrack from the 4th city is delightful, the 2nd, 1st and Harem are cool too. But to be honest, I didn't notice the difference between the sound of the tracks from the original and the remaster of the game.
That's because the music isn't remastered, it's just the original music. It's not even as good as the music from the D2 OST CD - the music from that CD is of higher quality than the FLAC files linked in the description. There is quite a significant difference in quality. This is Blizzard so you can't expect more than the minimum effort when it comes to remasters.
@yosharian To be fair, Resurrected was not a low effort remaster. I'm no longer a blizzard fan boy as I was during the golden age of Diablo 2 and LOD, but we have to give kudos where they are earned.
I fell in love with this game in 2002. The Asia server was the worst at the time. The only game I really enjoyed Sequels like Dia 3, 4, and Immortal are not as good as 2. From the intro music “I’m Blizzard” “I’m Diablo”
Other commenters are right this version is extremely high quality thank you. Me: I don't want remakes. Also me: I just want it for the sound. That wilderness. Never is my necromancer more vulnerable then the first 30 seconds outside that town trying to slap something to death with a wand. Survival Mode.
I played this game when I was in my teens and I was very impressed and marked by its soundtrack. Latter on, I became interested in music and I fell in love with Metallica. Looking back I can see that Act 1's music moves in a similar sound pallette than some passages of the music of Metallica, specially the album Ride the Lightning. For example, listen to 'The call of ktulu' (its similarity with some passages in Tristam is incredible, almost looks like a big influence), the intro in 'Fight fire with fire', or 'Sanitarium'. Seems that I picked Metallica becouse I had previously fell in love with this sound
I like that they used the dungeon (Cathedral) soundtrack in the spider cave sountrack. Not sure if the other soundtracks (except Tristram of course) were used. I think the options soundtrack has some similarities to the one from D1.
Así suena una rateada del colegio para ir al cyber con mi hermano a jugar Diablo II. Hasta que un día llegó nuestra vieja al cyber... claramente ese día no terminamos el farmeo. Jajaja
I hear some subtle differences, even on my cheap speakers, I bet someone with good monitors could tell more about what went into the remaster. e.g. 3:38 the drum roll and cymbal crash feels wider, deeper. Btw this is part of a track called "Monastery", which plays in the Act 1 Monastery exterior.
It's a remaster, like all remasters, done solely to make money. All D2 Resurrected has been remade, it's not even the same game. Same with Warcraft 3 remaster, and Starcraft remaster. Half the time the new models and textures look worse, or completely different. It's like a slap in the face to all the original graphic artists who worked on the games. It's like you're saying the original games looked like shit, so we have to re-design them now. Did Diablo 2 really age that much? Did it even look bad? No. Did it even need to be remastered? Of course not. But they realized they could make a LOT of money re-releasing it. And consumers could have ignored it, and saved their money ,but you all got suckered into a huge moneymaking SCAM.
@@chumbawampa It's not like saying original games looked like shit. SC and Diablo remasters are great, as they keep the original art direction and improve what originally was limited mostly by technology. I dislike some changes (like new portraits in SC, resembling more those from SC2), but that alone doesn't cancel all the great work that has been done and that really improves how the game looks and works. Sure, they are made with profit in mind, but guess what? Originals were aswell! WC3 Refunded is ofc another story.
The music from the FLAC files in the description are much lower quality than the D2 OST CD music. There is quite a significant difference if you listen to them side by side.
Back when my Dad and I would play together. He would choose the fighter, I would pick the sorceress. Years after the Resurrection remake, I'd take my crack at the Assassin. Still listen to this and the Warcraft 2 soundtrack. 😌
You can feel the passion and detail to this, real guitars mixed in too not cheesy synthesized pop music like they did for the D4 trailer which was more a pathetic attempt to grab "clout" than actual playing something that suited the genre. Nothing cheesy about this whole video, especially if you can play music yourself.
What i like the most about Blizzard is that every game has an amazing story behind it. The main story of Diablo is so amazing that a movie should be shot about it. Uelman's composed music is also the backbone of the game. As if Matt Uelman practically went into the game and lived it...
This game was insanely popular back in the early 2000s all my older brother friends were playing it. Addicted to it like crack. Then I tried it, I understood immediately why. Haven't played D4. No way they can ever get back to that level unfortunately.
