Honestly, ever since Diablo came out in 1996 I've always loved the soundtracks. I absolutely loved Diablo 1 and when the second one came out I found myself constantly playing II. Just recently a friend let me play his Diablo III on his account and I couldn't be happier. All in all this was a great game and I don't see why people hate the game's soundtrack. It appears people just need to appreciate music for what it is: music. It may sound very similar to the originals, but it's not. It's different. Different is good.
***** Yup. With new technology, we get also new techniques. This music is far less "simple", if it can be put in this way. Still, greatest part of Diablo. I don't think I'd have played so much I, II & III if not for the soundtrack (although Diablo II had the best >digital
No one hates the games sound track. they hate D3's cartoony Bullshit. Which is why Blizz knew they had to save their asses after immortal with D2R. Hopefully rather then them having their "Grand vision" of D4. They will HOPEFULLY make it dark and less cluttering like D3's craft system and useless consistent drops. In less then a month on D3 I was in the full teir set for the season with Anchient drops of 2 pieces. if i gave it another month id be godly but eww. Thats too easy and it loses appeal very fast. D2R is where its at for now.

Diablo has some real shit going on with its music theory. Even If you don't like D3, at least put this song in your playlist.
My coworker works at a daycare on the weekends and for some reason plays this to get the kids to study / for storytime. Apparently it really gets them to listen.
I will never forget the first time I opened Diablo 3, it was my first original PC game I ever bought. The internet was slow back then and I had to let it download all night. I had high school that day, but I quietly got up 2 hours early to open it, it was nighttime. I made myself a coffee, hit login and with my Hunter I got fully immersed in a Diablo game for the first time. The atmosphere of Tristam is unique.
Is it me or was this Diablo 3's main menu theme at first? Man, I remember just staying in the main menu hearing this. As a 13/14 year old back then, I loved it.
This is very nostalgic. I remember playing this game when I was a kid. My favorite line was from one of the town guards near the gate standing by a pile of burning corpses saying "Trzeba spalić zwłoki zanim wrócą do życia". Wich basically means we need to burn the corpses before they comeback to life. Also this will be a fine addition to my dnd camping songs!
Well, I don't know anything about musical theory, but as someone who plays a guitar, both six and twelve string variants, the overall structure seems improvised and would be quite simple to play given enough time to ear it out. It sounds beautiful, though..
Great soundtracks and Amazing game ! It was really awesome and entertaining playing Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls. I liked a lot the Wizard and the Crusader. I think they are gonna do another sequel of the game since most of the gamers liked it and the sales were high. Greetings from Albania Shqipe ! Pershendetje Shqipe kudo qe jeni.
D1 and D2's rendition leaned towards on the more atmospheric side. This one is a more thematic song. Same but conceptually different since they both have their own charm. I love both renditions, to be honest.
Although not as good as the original in my opinion, it seems to get progressively better as it goes on. It's an interesting take on the traditional town theme.
I like both versions of this song, but I actually like this one more. Everyone is going to have their own taste and opinions, and that's cool. Luckily we have both to listen to now. And btw, loving the expansion and I really think Blizz did a good job with turning the game around and listening to the players with the changes they made so far.
I feel like they should've just made the whole game like Reaper of Souls. RoS had a great atmosphere, pretty decent plot, and just felt fuller of despair and horror with how the place you're trying to save being portrayed as helpless to the monsters taking people's souls and turning them into ghouls. Base game just felt like something else entirely.
4:47 is nobody gonna talk about how similar does this sound to tlou's main theme? If it wasn't because it wouldn't make sense I would think it was some kind of homage or something
I use to have so much love and respect for this song but after playing the first Diablo all of that love and respect has transferred to the original Tristram Theme. This one is still very good, but the original manages to be haunting, creepy and beautiful in so many ways it's amazing. I wonder what inspired people to write such outstanding music for a game with such simple graphics? Did the lacking visuals inspire the musicians to work harder at adding to the atmosphere of the game? Or is it simply that Diablo 1 & 2's composer is just that little bit better than 3's?
+Byron Hamilton but Matt Uelman made this song for D3. It's just too bad he didn't make the rest of the soundtrack. But other than that, you're comment is spot on.
i also believe its the first thing you said. Just like with old final fantasy games. The graphics were so simple and yet the music made you feel the mood right away with what was happening in the situation. todays game lack these kind of track playing through them

I'm listening to this after having played a lot of Diablo 4 and currently playing Path of Exile 2. This track is so good. It's so memorable and it really sets the tone for the game and the experience. Nothing quite like it - so far!
Anyone think that 2:48 sounds like a snippet of the Terran themes from SC2? I like this tune more after about 3:00 or so; it becomes its own track rather than a "remake" so to speak.
One thing that lost in New Tristram theme is those instrument that mimic creatures' sound. Without sounds, the new song just isn't sounds as good as the old one, unlike in the D1 version, where you actually feel like you're walking in dark night, accompany only by wilderness sounds...
