Nice clear simple video on menu settings for a Baofeng. Unfortunately it's illegal to use a Baofeng to transmit on PMR because it's output is over 0.5W (half a watt). The other problem is the antenna has to be non removable for PMR radio but the Baofengs antenna is removable. I know many people still use them for PMR but i just thought i'd say as some people might think twice knowing the law for it's use and technical requirements. Still a good clear baofeng video though so a lot of people will find it easier to set one up.👍😊
@@AllBikesGreatAndSmall You cant because of the power output level being over 0.5 watts which is the max on PMR. It also has a detachable aerial which isnt allowed on PMR. You also cannot act suspicious with a salmon.

Quick question: I have two (2) Baofeng UV-5Rs. I have them set and programed identically the same in the menu. I also have them on the same frequency. When I transmit from Baofeng radio # 1 to Baofeng radio # 2 it works fine however when I try to transmit from Baofeng radio # 2 to Baofeng radio # 1, the Baofeng radio # 1 will not pick up the transmission from the other Baofeng radio #2. SO I cannot hear any signal/transmission from Baofeng radio # 1. Do you think there is something wrong with Baofeng radio # 1?
Join a radio club and get on licenced frequencies. There is a club in Hartlepool. mx0idz.uk Plenty people to talk to on licenced frequencies with more power and range. PMR446 on the other hand is intended for short range for use on work sites etc and not really used for casual chatting much.
Not sure how it affects rage to be honest but I've found that wide band can "bleed" into neighbouring channels. For range you might find it more beneficial to attach a better aerial than the standard one.
I've got my steps set on 6.25 ... I type in 446.000 and then press the up arrow once and that takes you to 446.00625 ... Then from there if you arrow up twice that will take you to the next UK PMR channel. Save your channels as you go along.
So let's say I'm on channel 7, with CTCSS turned on chatting with a friend. Will someone on normal channel 7 without CTCSS turned on be able to hear what we're saying? Or do they have to be on the same 'subchannel' to hear us talking?
Hi Black Wolf I'm having a little problem and I'm wondering if you can help me. Daniel Murphy Hi and thanks, it sounds like you might not have the ctcss receiving frequency set, I'd try again and set both ctcss frequencies before saving it to a channel.
Ah ok, this is then correct, ctcss doesn't hide or make your transmission "private" from others who use no ctcss and this is why the other radio will pick up your transmissions. Its use is meant to cut out the receiving of transmissions that you're not interested in hearing.
