A very beautiful reaction 💐! Yes, their voice go together nicely ❤. I see 👁👁 that you have reacted to Aretha Franklin before: Willing To Forgive, Ever Changing Times and I Say A Little Prayer. I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) was released as the third single from Aretha Franklin's 1986 album: Aretha. It was written by Simon Climie and Dennis Morgan. It was produced by Narada Michael Walden. The song reached #1 on the Hot 100, #2 on the Adult Contemporary chart #5 on the R&B chart and #12 on the Dance Club chart. It also peaked at #1 in the UK, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Belgium, Australia and the Netherlands. It was Aretha Franklin's highest charting song on the Adult Contemporary chart and also her only #1 song in the UK.
The music video was directed by Andrew Morahan and filmed in Detroit. Footage from both Aretha Franklin's and George Michael's early music careers was shown on the screen as the music video began. As the second chorus ends footage of earlier famous duet pairs including: Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Sonny and Cher, Ike and Tina Turner, are shown on the viewing screen.
Aretha Franklin reflected on her collaboration with George Michael in Entertainment Weekly's 2017 tribute issue. "The first time I heard George was with Wham! and I liked it then", she said. "He had a very unique sound, very different from anything that was out there. When Clive [Davis] suggested we get together for 'I Knew You Were Waiting', I was all ready. It reminded me of Jerry Wexler. We'd go in the studio and cut songs. If we were happy with what we recorded Jerry would say: 'Let's wait until tomorrow. If we feel the same way that we do now, maybe we have a hit'. 'I Knew You Were Waiting' had that. Musically, it does not grow old".
Regarding the music video, Aretha Franklin said: "We had a super time. He (George Michael) was calling most of the shots: how he wanted this, how he wanted that. My older sister, Erma, just fell for him right away. He was very friendly and personable, easy to talk to".

    Lyrics 🗒:
    Like a warrior that fights
    And wins the battle
I know the taste of victory
Though i went through some nights
    Consumed by the shadows
    I was crippled emotionally
Somehow i made it through the heartache
    Yes i did. I escaped.
I found my way out of the darkness
I kept my faith (i know you did), kept my faith
When the river was deep i didn't falter
When the mountain was high i still believed
When the valley was!ow it didn't stop me, no no
I knew you were waiting. I knew you were waiting for me
With an endless desire i kept on searching
Sure in time our eyes would meet
Like the bridge is on fire
The hurt is over, one touch and you set me free
    I don't regret a single moment, no i don't looking hack
When i think of all those disappointments
I just laugh (i know you do), i just laugh
When the river was deep i didn't fairer
When the mountain was high i still believed
When the valley was low it didn't stop me
I knew you were waiting. I knew you were waiting for me
So we were drawn together through destiny
I know this love we snared was meant to be
I knew you were waiting, knew you were waiting
I knew you were waiting, knew you were waiting for me

I 👁👁 see that you have reacted to George Michael before: Careless Whisper, One More Try, If I Told You That w/ Whitney Houston, Freedom '90 and Wake Up Before You Go-Go.
George Michael & Wham! Info 📰:
George Michael was born on June 25, 1963, East Finchley, London, England. He passed away on December 25, 2016 in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England. Andrew Ridgeley was born on January 26, 1963 in Windlesham, Surrey, England.
Wham! were a Pop duo formed in England in 1981. The duo consisted of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. They became one of the most commercially successful Pop acts of the 1980s, selling more than 30 million certified records worldwide from 1982 to 1986. Wham! released three studio albums (three in North America and Japan, two in all other territories), four compilation albums, four video albums, 12 music videos, 12 singles, two remix albums and two documentary films.
Influenced by Funk and Soul music and presenting themselves as disaffected youth, Wham!'s 1983 debut album: Fantastic, addressed the United Kingdom's unemployment problem and teen angst over adulthood. Their second studio album: Make It Big (1984), was a worldwide Pop smash hit, charting at number one in both the UK and the United States. Associated with the MTV-driven Second British Invasion of the US, the singles from the album:"Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "Everything She Wants" and "Careless Whisper", all topped the US Billboard Hot 100. In 1985, Wham! made a highly publicized 10-day visit to China, the first ever by a Western Pop group. The event was seen as a major watershed moment in increasing friendly bilateral relations between China and the West.
In 1986, Wham! broke up. George Michael was keen to create music targeted at a more sophisticated adult market rather than the duo's primarily teenage audience. Before going their separate ways, a farewell single: "The Edge Of Heaven", and a greatest-hits album titled: The Final, would be forthcoming, along with a farewell concert entitled The Final. Announcing the breakup, George Michael said: "I think it should be the most amicable split in Pop history".
Andrew Ridgeley moved to Monaco after Wham!'s breakup and tried his hand at Formula Three motor racing. Meeting with little success, Ridgeley moved to Los Angeles to pursue his singing/acting career, the failure of which caused him to return to England in 1990. Regardless, CBS Records, having taken up the option on Wham!'s contract that specified solo albums from George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, released a solo effort from Andrew Ridgeley called: Son Of Albert, in 1990. After poor sales, CBS Records declined the option of a second album.
    George Michael Solo Career 🎤:
George Michael's solo releases consist of five studio albums, two compilation albums, one extended play, 47 singles, three promotional singles, 31 music videos, and five video albums. At the time of his passing, George Michael was estimated to have sold between 100 million and 125 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He is estimated to have sold up to 30 million records with Wham!. His debut solo album Faith has sold more than 25 million copies.
Michael's debut solo album: Faith, was released by Columbia Records in the United States and sibling label Epic Records in the United Kingdom in October 1987. It included the singles: "I Want Your Sex", "Faith" (the Billboard Hot 100 year-end number-one single of 1988 in the United States), "Father Figure", "One More Try","Monkey" and Kissing A Fool. The album peaked at number one in the UK Albums Chart, and was certified 4× Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Also in 1987, George Michael collaborated with Aretha Franklin on the UK and US number one single: "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)".
George Michael's 1987 song: "One More Try", was the last #1 single on the R&B music chart by a white male artist until Robin Thicke's 2007 song: "Lost Without U".
In September 1990, George Michael released his second album: Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1, which peaked at number one in the UK, number two in the US, and was certified 4× Platinum by the BPI. The album spawned the hit singles: "Praying For Time", "Waiting For That Day", "Freedom! '90", "Heal The Pain" and "Cowboys And Angels".
In December 1991, George Michael released the single: "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me", a duet with Elton John. The song reached number one in the UK and US. In 1992, George Michael recorded the song: "Too Funky", for the charity project Red Hot + Dance. The song reached number four in the UK and number ten in the US. It debuted at number one in the UK and was certified Gold.
In early 1996, George Michael released the single: "Jesus To A Child", a UK number-one single. The follow-up single: "Fastlove", also peaked at number one in the UK. Following "Fastlove", the album: Older, was released, in May 1996. Other singles from the album included: "Spinning The Wheel", "Star People '97" and the double A-sides "Older / I Can't Make You Love Me" and "You Have Been Loved / The Strangest Thing '97". The album: Twenty Five, released in 2006, was George Michael's second greatest hits album, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his music career. It debuted at number one in the UK. The album contains songs mainly from George Michael's solo career and two new songs: "An Easier Affair" and "This Is Not Real Love".

This was followed by the singles: "True Faith " and "You and I", another charity single. His next single was the song: "White Light", and it was a commercial success, reaching number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. The song has also charted in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
George Michael fell into a coma in 2011 during a bout with pneumonia, but later recovered. He performed his final concert Earl's Court in London in 2012.
In 2012, George Michael said that there was no truth in speculation that he and Andrew Ridgeley were set for a Wham! reunion to mark the 30th anniversary of the group's first album.
In September 2017, George Michael's estate released the single: "Fantasy". Written and produced by George Michael, was recorded while he was working on his album: Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1. However, the track was not included on the album. Instead in October 1990, it was featured on the "Waiting for That Day" single in the United Kingdom and on the "Freedom! '90" single in the rest of the world. On October 18, 2017, a music video for the song was released on UA-cam (Vevo).
In 2019, the Emma Thompson-written film: Last Christmas was released. The title of the film is taken from the Wham! classic song. An official movie soundtrack album was released by Legacy Recordings on November 8, 2019. The album contains 14 Wham! and solo George Michael songs, as well as a previously unreleased song originally completed in 2015 titled: "This Is How (We Want You to Get High)".
