I'm not desperate for performance, but every single extra bit helps and your video did a huge amount of easy explanation to help with a bunch of the clutter that may be on a system.
This is so difficult to decide. Older software may still depend on their own active x ocx's for their functionality rather than using dll's. Also, some services may have dependencies to parent services. It's really up to the developers which have their own style of coding. A good way to check these issues can be monitored with system internals. Unless those services are clearly defined, my practice is - if you have a decent system (cpu, ram, etc.), they are doing no harm and left alone. You never know when you install an app that will suddenly depend on services you disabled. What a quagmire ! Good one Brian - Thank you sir!
@@rajkishorebehera7489 Microsoft's service is called 'intelligent', not 'intelligence'. All your videos are very informative and have value and this one is no exception. As a tech myself I would like to point out however, that many of the services you mention are set to "Manual" and aren't already running and therefore won't account for CPU usage. As a best practice, I almost always leave this setting as is in case Windows, being the fickle thing that it is, requires it.
That is correct James, the services that are not running will have no impact on the system resources and they are normally set to manual. Not sure disabling already stopped services actually does something tbh. Technically stopped services are not using any resources and they will only start if needed.
Because doesnt matter at all. CPU today is more than capable for this services and same with RAM and SSD. Mostly of this services was set on “manual” which is already disabled if you dont use them.
I understand that people think disabling services saves system resources, however all services that have manual as default startup type will most of the time not be running at all and not use a single clock cycle or single byte of ram when left as is. Also like you already said services have a purpose, disabling them disables certain Windows features. They are not bloatware. If you are running low on resources try stopping other applications either running open or minimized or even in the system tray. There is much more to gain from closing as much of non OS software as you can. The only 2 that have serious impact are automatic updates (only when actual downloading and installing updates is in progress, when you are all done it does not take up anything significant). The other one is defender, other anti virus products have a similar impact as defender on performance, so switching is futile. The differences you will see depend on the default settings of the chosen product. If you want less impact you can configure defender to do things like only do realtime on disk writes only not reads, and make exclusions for folders that have things in them that get updated a lot. For example make exclusion you can turn on for your steam folder that you can use when you update your games.

Some of these things you advised to turn off because "Oh you just don't use it." isn't a smart move. Some of those background services related to networking are important for protecting someone's data in the event their PC is compromised.

Youre the man. Do you know much about how the windows audio pipeline? Theres more IT work today around the area of video uc meetings and theres just this never ending barage of problems where windows constantly have to change default audio outputs and inputs. There are fairly newly implemented functions in windows regarding audio permissions. One can give an application ability to fully take control of an audio device, im guessing its to avoid the problem with constantly changing audio I/O but what if you have 2 applications with this permission, say a softphone app and perhaps google meet in the web browser, which app gets precedence? Where Can I find a setting for that? I cant find ant info anywhere of it but this has to be a fairly common problem for todays IT-pro. A video of this would be very much appreciated or if you could point me the n the right direction. I just can’t belive there isnt detailed info about this anywhere. Been on about 4 different offices the last 2 years. It’s a constant problem wherever you go.

@@Britec09 well yes, the preinstalled one, because I don't want to open my laptop yet
Good video my friend!
Damn i use almost all the services you listed: Butetooth, Hyper V, Printing, Remote Desktop etc etc, but i don't use Phones Service or NFC Nearfeald Service, why did you not disable those?
How much impact do these service have that you disabled? Would be interesting to know!
You can disable whatever you like. It's hard to know what people use on their computer and what others don't. If I say disable it to someone may need it and then they complain in the comments
You wouldn't believe the number of processes running on my machine: It's 263. But it runs as smooth as butter.
Is the BitLocker service even available in Windows 11 Home? And it surprises me that ActiveX is still there considering IE isn't even installed on Windows 11
If I have not mistaken, it's available only in Professional and Enterprise editions.
No
My processes are at 188?
Cna someone tell me what windows search does?
How about a similar guide for W10 users? I imagine many will be the same.
Some Microsoft updates will restart services after they have been installed.
Ryzen 7 without a gpu??
Does this increase performance?
if you mean does your game go from tortoise to lightnng speed I honestly doubt it !
Frustrating, some of us are not that IT savy, and it would be helpful to provide an explanation what each item is and why they are better to be turned off as the description in the services window isnt great.
i think people already know, but you can't disable window defender services
Is it safe to disable DoSvc?
This service is delivery optimisation client. For secure downloads
Hi

But she is back to work again
I can't disable it

It's not a virus(i think)
It only uses less than 1MB of RAM
But it bothers me
Any idea how to disable it?

I’m a little on the fence about the IP helper. There are mixed feelings from many. I’m not sure why. I did read that about 25% of internet might use it. Idk
Widget ko disable kaise kare
Hey Brian missed you a lot.
I use sordum service optimizer give it a try mate.
Not sure whether it supports windows 11 coz I'm on win 10. :)
Thanks for the tip!
Hi, Brian, I saw another video about this but forgot who did it but I do remember he said it is better to set them to manual than to disable them but some I feel are better to disable like remote desktop
The services that are not running will have no impact on the system resources and they are normally set to manual.
It’s fully automatic in Win 7. I don’t need to switch anything off, after a while Windows will turn them off by default.
This is all that you disable?!
You can disable more if you don't need them
NOT Encrypting Your Drive Leaves You VERY Vulnerable To Remote Breaches !!! Also = MY Suggestion To Stay Secure = Disable ANY Remote Access Managers !!! = The ONLY Reason Why you Would Wont This Feature Running IS IF You Are Running a Server !!!
Encrypting Your Drive can also cause problems
@@Britec09 Especially when trying to recover from a hardware failure. Once encrypted it's impossible to recover any data from that drive without the key, and unfortunately most people don't save that key where it can be useful when it's needed.
He say stay secure my ass been using 1709 with no AV just using ublock ads block and with only 17 service running didnt notice any slow down or being hack.
I disable quite a few including win updates as twice a win update has wiped 2 computers, I would like to be able to stop having to sign into my own laptop & also sstop set up PIN popping up, and also stop win directing me to save to the one drive I never use it I dont trust it I have lost so much data using one drive I prefer to keep it on the local machine & a physical back up drive
thanks. 15:00 after doing all this my processes are still over 200 though ):
It didn't work, I had 190 processes showed in task manager, 60 more than you before you disabled them and after disabling some you suggested, not all of them, I hoped to see less processes, but it didn't happen, now (after restarting) they are 189. I checked out and those processes are still disabled, so I can't understand what happened. Anyway thanks for the video, let's find other information I missed.
thank you
