I can't believe how no one hasn't filed a lawsuit over all this
same, they got into trouble for browser choice making IE the default a decade ago, they had to make special N versions of windows that came without Internet explorer but I guess that just applied to the old version of windows at the time? because they are doing what the Fug they want now!
well do it yourself then ?
microsoft is a trillion dollar company good luck with that. xd
@@Yshtola. so is facebook and they get sued all the time and lose same with youtube
There wont be, you acknowledge and agree when installing windows or when you start windows on a brand new device. It is like with Facebook: you can upload photos and share with friends and family BUT when you signed up for Facebook, you actually agreed that your photos will now belong to Facebook and that they can use your photos without your consent. Or when you use the Facebook app on your Android smartphone and agree to the terms and conditions: The app can use your camera and microphone WITHOUT your say so. It is all in the print that we all agree to when first installing or using said software/platforms or devices.
Recently saw a video about why some still use Windows XP.
While I don't use it anymore the reason I still think dearly of it is because I felt like I OWNED my pc.
Not long ago went looking for some files I had in my windows xp and booted that system.
There were only 10 processes running and I knew exactly what each of those were.
It was a system I knew the ins and outs, configured to my liking and felt in control of it.
Now, a brand new windows computer will have about 200 processes running and even more services, before you even install anything,
and a lot of those are things I don't want running on my pc.
New windows feel like buying a new car and the first thing you say when you sit on it "I HATE THIS" ,
then work on configuring, removing all stuff I don't care and don't want, just so I hate it a little less and windows reinstalling a lot of that crap on the next update.
If I own a pc I want to be the one installing new software on it, because I have an use for it, I dont want someone else installing whatever software they want, but this is the experience windows gives you, then they collect and sell your data profiting from you just using "your" computer and on top of that make you pay for it.
Do you connect XP to the internet and if so, how do you keep it safe?
Another thing to be careful of: some companies with Android software will turn permissions back on during an automatic update.
Companies love to come out with a new privacy policy update saying "by continuing to use service you agree to..." and turning everything back on at update time.
Edit: thanks for the 1k likes
Have I got a story for you. Happens EVERY time my phone is updated. Every time. Then I spend countless hours trying to find the things I set, to reset them again.

Try RethinkDNS, you can control all internet access with this app even the system apps. it's work as VPN, so you can't use other VPN when this active, and this can also work as adblock.
Boy what energy and time you need to invest for you privacy. I hope gaming will get more support on Linux.

This is incredible. I know people have been saying windows is snoopy for a long time but I didn't really appreciate what that meant until I saw this video.
Great info! :) I would also suggest creating a restore point before making changes. Or at least suggesting that for friends when you recommend using this.
Even though I'm tempted I don't know if I'm gonna do it, back then I've used different anti-telemetry tools with Windows 10, only to find out months later that parts of the OS were broken because of those tools
That's why the oosu10++ is good, because it's only registry and group policy changes. It can be reverted without any damage.
What parts of the OS were broken?
What parts of the os were broken?
Unless you are using your pc for your business you shouldn't care even a bit, there is absolutely nothing oosu10++ can break for gaming or other time killing usage..
@@hugbearsx4 for me, my windows search broke. May not be that big of a deal but thats only the stuff I noticed lol
A good follow up later is to see if a future windows update enables all these features again like they usually do. Microdot just loves to enable those registry keys and group police’s again without telling you. Not to mention change the keys so the program won’t work and you’ll have to wait for a new disable tool.
ShutUp10 recommends rerunning the software after any Windows update and will show what telemetry has been turned back on after the update.
This is another reason to save the configuration file. After each update, you can quickly reuse it
they do, but you just launch the software and it tells you what has changes and asks if you want to revert to your settings
Turns out they did AND they added AI spyware that documents all your actions and is highly hackable
Your surround sound recording is excellent, I looked out my window to see what the swoosh noise was. 0:15
Great stuff as always. reassuring to see the tools being the ones I already use always a nice sanity check.
Agreed, I already use O+O but it's nice to see confirmation.
I'd get Simplewall too. It's a firewall that also har all the telemetry and tracking blocked by default, you can configure it how you want, it's very simple to use.
Honestly, I switched to Linux when Windows 11 introduced its unnecessary system requirements and the privacy issues that Windows 10 and 11 introduced.
Same here, i switched my main computer and kept my laptop on w11.
Mint? Qubes? Subgraph? What's a good build to go with?
@@Truth_Unleashed mint if you're a beginner. Few say that oh Arch is for advanced users but nah, I started with Arch messed with the system and finally learnt Linux. Arch is the most beautiful distro I've ever seen.

Thanks for the well made, straightforward video; you're a lifesaver! I jumped ship back when Windows 10 autoinstalled, been pretty lost with what to do when my mama calls up worried about this kinda stuff. If only I could get her to try out Debian!
Love your channel and videos thanks for making them.
Wish you could do some common questions people are unsure about.
Like can you plug in an HDD that has viruses on it to get some files off of it.
Or a complex question. Like can you plug in a device that has virus built onto a chip in side it.
Or how to check internet traffic from your pc to see what is being contacted outside your pc using a program Fiddler or other similar software.
I use O&O shutup on my PC in conjunction with Adguard Home running on a VM. Solid results with custom lists!
Absolutey brilliant. I was hoping for a guide like this. Thank you!
I will say this. Log collection is very useful if you know where and what to look at and how to utilize the info and the search/filters. If you use your system as a server or NAS of sorts and have ever realized your system is offline. The logs can be very helpful in figuring out why that happened. If a power failure, update, or system crash occurred. The logs will usually state such things along with pertinent info as to what caused the issue.
It may not solve your problems, but it can definitely help make it easier and quicker to do so. Especially if you want to avoid any foolish errands!
Glad the algorithm suggested this video. I need to run O&O on all my PCs now.
Thank you @The PC Security Channel for all your help.
Love this. I remember when we could go into the ports and shut down all unneeded ports to strangle connections we didn't want. I have windows 2000 running still and it's locked down to the max.
Thanks for the new video. I have learned a lot from you and I really appreciate it. I would like a video to be made about "how to protect our windows PCs from metasploit attacks or other types of attacks hackers do", and another with a "review of hardware firewalls for home use and how to configure them". Keep up the good work! 👍
Try Linux Mint, put it on a usb drive etc and try it out without even installing anything...then you don't have to deal with any of this BS
Awesome video. But if you make all the changes under local machine do you have to go back and switch these settings for current user too?
It's crazy how Microsoft learned from the people that attacked their software......I have to do all this to use a computer knowing someone is spying on me.....
thats interesting
calling microsofts spy mechanism
"a protection for microsofts software"
is it against piracy ? and now we can spy everyones computer ?
and that on a computer or name that actually has a windows key - like really ?
"i want a camera in everybodys house this protects us from terrorists"
"i also want a chip in your body that also makes us protect from terrorists"

Thanks for the security info. I will refer back to this for reference. Excellent how to.
Excelent video. My cooler was buzzing very bad because the cpu was up to 100% in many cases. Now it did stop, I have silence again (I used O&O)
Could you do an analysis on system overhead for the different antivirus ? As in, how much resources do they use, because sometimes you want to run them on machines with limited resources or on PCs where performance matters (eg. gaming PCs).
Also, I noticed you included links to the tools you described in the video, which is great. It was not always the case for previous videos, and as downloading things from the internet may be unsafe it is good to have the proper links.
I applied these settings, and a few more, a fews days back and now Win 11 just freezes periodically. I sometimes can't use the KB and Mouse at all, or Mouse and KB inputs are extreally laggy, like a 5 to 10sec delay, no matter if its a game, document I'm working on, or just folder-file managment actions, the whole system freezes for about 15 seconds.
Yeah thanks for sponsoring this video Neeva. Neeva? You there.... oh, they're dead. That didn't take long.
This is great! Knew about this but still appreciate it.
Hey what about Safing Portmaster? It's an incredibly useful application firewall that has options for blocking telemetry/spyware domains etc
Very very informative video! Thank you! 🥰🥰
Good idea, but I have a question. Does these settings stay as one sets it even after there is a windows update because I have seen that whenever a window is updating, it force rewrites any customization settings done to the system.
so if you have already set a lot of these thing up manually in the group policy editor, registry and windows setting will toggling those switches to on then back off undo the changes you made manually? will this software settings persist threw updates?
is this different from the de-bloating software that disables telemetry too? or is this better?
Could you compare normal Windows 10 pro and Windows 10 LTSC with the normally available setting disabled? Then debloat both and compare again. I would really like to see this
Very interesting video. I bookmarked it for future reference! I'm subscribed, I liked this video, and I'll share it.
The reason I'm looking at this right now is because Window telemetry leeched SO MUCH of my CPU usage. And I have old laptop so this is annoying. Didn't know it is actually THIS BAD. Thank you for this video.
Very helpful video! I'm a little confused at how O&O Shutup and Ultimate Windows Tweaker seem to have overlapping settings especially in regards to disabling telemetry. Do you need both to maximize de-bloating or can you do just fine using only O&O? (Ultimate Windows Tweaker in this video seemed more about restoring windows UI functionality, but I won't be touching W11 for as long as the Earth is round)
Offtopic: is Earth round, or spherical? Or, probably (just probably) flat? :)
@@Kedvespatikus 🥚as long as the simulation is stable & rendering, God help us when reality starts to-

The way I stopped Microsoft spying was to install Windows Ghost Spectre Windows 11 Superlite. My laptop has never run so smoothly.
I have question. Can you please make a video about cmd process sniffing? Basically many programs running many processes were we don't know what they exactly do. It will be nice to open the process which is created by specific program to see what type of commands and arguments are sent in real time. Is this is even possible?
Incredibly awesome video. Thank you so much!
Just thank you for your work!!!
You know what would be interesting? Doing this same telemetry leakage analysis on a properly installed copy of Windows Ameliorated Edition. Install properly, fully offline, complete the amelioration process, then use O&O ShutUp10 and Spybot Anti-beacon, then wireshark the traffic upon first being brought online. There's so much of Windows guts ripped out on Windows AME such as Defender, Cortana, Edge, Update, that it would be fascinating to see how effective this process is at removing / limiting Microsoft's spyware activities.
Great video! You have a few videos on how to disable aspects of telemetry on windows 11. Would you by chance have a recommendation / best video / most current for a completely new windows 11 user to use?
Question? Whats to keep microsoft from either mis-labeling the code (telemetry goin g out under softwareupdates) or writing code that would override any changes to the host file?

Please make a version where you check other windows OS for telemetry data like Windows Spectre! would love to see something like that. keep up the great content either way!!
Never used the second tool in the video, and the one you mentioned, I'm gonna try them soon.
I use mainly ShutUp10 and WPD (even if the last version is more than a year ago old).
I also use hijackthis, an old tool that was abandoned years ago but a new developer is updating it.
Even Winaero Tweaker contains some options related to the privacy (and a lot of Windows tweaking, of course).
Somebody else can suggest similar software?
it is going this way
network card -> windows -> ndis engine (network card manager) -> wireguard place here
so what windows can do is
network card -> windows -> (oh no windows decided to filter out that connection, streams, transfer, whatever it was) -> no ndis engine -> no wireguard catching the information
the other way around
network card -> windows -> (decide to transmit this information or not - ok yes i dont care this to be seen - transmit it to) -> ndis -> wireguard see it
That's what I've been doing, since switching is impossible because of a lot of specific program required by my job.
But I do manually update once a month.
My own personal machine I use ESET with the interactive firewall and anything that pops-up that I do not actively use gets permanently blocked.
Exactly what I needed. Thanks so much

When I see those videos about security recommending the X tool, or the Y tool, I always think "ok bui what if this tools are a vulnerability too? what if this tools are also spying on me? half of them usually dont even pass o virustotal"
You have to look at each application individually, these don't even persist on your system so once you close them, they're gone, but if you instead prefer to distrust everything not made by (insert favorite company here) don't be surprised when that same monopoly doesn't care about you as a user. Some of the largest companies like Avast, Fortinet etc, yes, even Microsoft, have had serious security problems. Remember WannaCry autoinstalling through the network (that was all Microsoft SMB). Spreading the view you that you shouldn't trust anybody else cause of all the security dangers but somehow trust them with more and more despite their endless screwups is very profitable for someone, and it isn't the user.
@@pcsecuritychannel I really understand your point and I agree with you because I imagine your perspective, but try to see mine just for one moment: I'm a simple developer that doesnt understand as much as you do and I think most of the people here also does not. I know what virustotal is but I dont really knows how it works inside. I know registry although I dont really know how to check it. And that's precisely the issue. If you use a tool you have 30 different ways of instantly check if it is bad or not. If I have to use a tool I am limited to other tools like virustotal and content made about this like your channel itself. Let me be clear on something: I agree with you when you distrust this companies and what you do in you videos I would love to be able to do so that's why I watch them. But when you say in a video to use something like dumpit that turns virustotal crazy I dont have the same options that you do to feel safe using it. It really sucks to have to "trust" microsoft but the other option is some shady tool that nobody really knows that have admin access to my registry. Maybe this will make you think I'm a hater or just really dumb, but maybe it will give you some ideas of videos in the future too. I really like your content man. I really do. Hopefully you understand this is not an attack but a honest viewer concern that maybe more people watching this may share too.

I really wish that OOSU had simply used an "On / Off" or "Allow / Disallow" heading on the settings and also indicated which is the default. The On = Off gets a bit confusing. Although, IIRC, some of Microsoft's own settings are done this way.
Red ("off") is the default OS behavior. Green "on" is the non-default.
these shutup settings marked "yes" are just normal windows settings. "disable tracking on web " for Edge as example just means enabling Do not track request which website can just ignore and it is not even meant to stop MS tracking you
So this video is geared towards the inexperienced user or someone not comfortable modifying the registry on their own. Ide like to see a advanced companion video that doesnt use a 3rd party program and provides all the registry locations and what option to turn a feature on or off.
