It’s a beautiful sweater and I like your idea of leaving it alone work on the sleeves. if you need to rip back you can afterwards but right now leave it and work on the sleeves and as another option you can always do a solid color for the front pouch, hood and cuffs if you really need to.
I was going to suggest the exact same thing! I think it would look great with a solid that matches the lighter blue in the variegated. You could make the hood detachable by doing a neck treatment with button holes. That way you can wear it with or without the hood depending on your mood and the weather.
Hello Shannon being you really really want the sleeves, I would not ripe anything out I would do both sleeves and then see how much yarn you have left to maybe do the hood if possible ❤🎉
❤shannon❤ love the sweater. I would halt and do sleeves first. Then if you don't think enough yarn, forego hood and or pouch OR consider doing hood and or pouch in a solid color that comes close to one of the colors in yarn. It would be nice like a colorblind type garment❤
I agree with doing the sleeves first, then deciding from there if you want the hood more or the pouch. I think with the sleeves done you will be able to try it on and decide much more easily which one you want to do since it will be almost complete once the sleeves are on.
I thought I had a great idea then I read the comments and it seems many of us have the same idea. Stop working on the body 🛑 and work on the sleeves. You can always do the pouch and/or hood in contrasting color. Maybe you have something similar to an Arcane Fiber Works yarn in charcoal laying around? I think it would look stunning! That is, If you have something like that. I can send you a link in case you haven't heard of them. 🤣🤣
I hadn’t thought of the contrast hood, that would look nice. If I went that route I would have to purchase another hank of my contrast color. I think cooler heads would say, don’t rip it back until you know you have to.
Gorgeous sweater. Could you purchase another hank of yhe yarn? IMHO Stop now and do the sleeves see which you have enogh yarn to do pouch or hood. If not pull back finish in yhe design and if possible do some sort of finish on the neck. This advice is from someone just trying to learn to knit.🎉 Great find on the needles🎉.
It’s such a pretty sweater I’d find a corresponding colored yarn of similar fiber and weight and use it for the hood and pouch and use the main yarn to finish the sleeves and rest. I always combine solids with variegated yarns and it looks so pretty. Just a thought.
I agree with most of the other comments. Sleeves next then pouch. Hood is optional. Or hood and pouch a solid color. Whatever you decide, this vintage project will be beautiful.
Yes, I hadn’t even thought of contrasting color as an option. When I tried this on it felt amazing and needs to be worn not languishing in a box any longer
Stunning work as always. I think you're going to need to frog so you can for sure have enough yarn for long sleeves. I would also not do the hood. I did like your idea of maybe do the sleeves before you pull it out to see if you have enough to do the pouch
I’m so glad I watch your videos, saw how beautiful Big Twist Vortex is in the Northern Lights colorway, and was able to grab some before my store ran out! They’re already out of stock online! 😱
I’m going to make the most of it. I really love it. I didn’t know they already ran out. So happy I got what I did while it was available. I’ll miss them when they are gone.
Do the sleeves. Then finish the pouch if you have enough. Ditch the hood. Unless you really want the hood. But definitely do the sleeves first. Then choose between the hood and pouch.
Hi Shannon, You are going to really like those flexi-flips... they are like DPN's but flexible... they work great for socks and I think you will really like them.
I think that I would do the sleeves, then pouch and see if you have enough for the hood. Or….could you do pouch and or hood with a solid matching color?
Something I have done is put the main body on holding cables and then did the sleeves. That way I know I have enough for the sleeves and then evaluate what else I can do.
They have those at Cloverhill, and there was a project on them so we could all try them out and they are actually pretty cool. I actually thought about getting some to try for socks. The other stuff you can keep, I only use ChiaoGoo fixed Red Lace needles. The cables on the chiaogoo needles never curl, and the needles are stainless steel.
I would make the sleeves and if you have leftovers, make the hood and stripe it with navy or white. You can make your sleeve coffs with the new color to tie it all together. I'm personally not a fan of the kangaroo pocket but that is just me, lol
Personally, I wouldn't rip anything back unless you absolutely have to. I would do the sleeves, then the hood and then make a decision. The Dreamz needles are really nice - a mid point between metal and bamboo. I've ended up buying all sizes and lengths. I do my socks on the 10", US 0.
I had a thought. Keep working on it , but look at arcane fiber works tonals and see if there’s a charcoal that would work with it. If there is, maybe you could do a gray hood and trim it in the original color. Something like that. BTW I like “vintage wips “ too. You’ll figure this out!
Theres a little Church thrift store near me that I stop at regularly in Walingford VT. Last summer I found a set of Knitters Pride interchangeable knitting needles with 2 sets the regular sizes and a complete lg set. The normal set if I remeber right is missing 1 maybe 2. But for $30 if I have to purchase 2 replacement sizes I really cant complain as its about 20 to 25 to purchase the missing sizes. My next big purchase will be the chigoo minis sets for socks and smaller projects.
That’s a set I done have is the Chigoo interchangeable set. I have the DPNs I do my socks on but not those cute little sets. The thing that has stopped me it the proprietary cables Chigoo has. All my other sets I can mix and match the cables when needed. Those are so pretty though.
Depending on your body shape, if u have a pear or apple shape then do the hood and not the pouch as it would add volume to ur bottom half. And visa versa, if u are top heavy then do the pouch and no hood. Long sleeves for sure!
I would do sleeves, then pouch, then hood.... but if sleeves are the priority, then do that, then if the hood is next priority, do that, or if the pouch is more important, do that.
If it was mine to finish. I would not make the hood for the sweater. I would keep the pouch and long sleeves. The hood is more of a teenage thing. When you get older it's not popular. Just my opinion. Everyone has the things they like. Thanks for letting me voice my opinion.
definitely finish the sleeves first. Not only will you have a better idea of how much yarn you have left but sleeve island will not be a thing for finishing the sweater.
You have gotten this far and something about the project is making you not love it. Yes the yarn is beautiful but you can’t see the pattern that you are working so hard for. That being said. I would keep the pouch because that yarn is camouflaging your pattern so the sweater will need something extra. Yes to long sleeves. lol. Maybe no hood. They say with jewelry, before you leave the house take off one piece of jewelry so you don’t have too much on . lol all that being said. I would pull everything out and start pattern with a new yarn that suits it better. 😢. I just did that to a sweater I was 3/4 complete. But my psyche feels so much better because I really hated it. lol. Good luck Shannon.

I would do the sleeves and get it the length you want and if I had more yarn then do hood.
I think I’m going to have to dig out my size 8 double pointed needles and start those sleeves.
Do the sleeves than if you have the yarn make the hood and pocket. Just my thought, which you also said. :)
Thank you, nice to see you here 🥰
❤sleeves first and then decide pouch or rip back. Ditch the hood. 😊😊
I think the consensus is do the sleeves, judge after that.
Hello Shannon being you really really want the sleeves, I would not ripe anything out I would do both sleeves and then see how much yarn you have left to maybe do the hood if possible ❤🎉
That looks like the consensus in the community. Looks like I need to find my size 8 double pointed needles
❤shannon❤ love the sweater. I would halt and do sleeves first. Then if you don't think enough yarn, forego hood and or pouch OR consider doing hood and or pouch in a solid color that comes close to one of the colors in yarn. It would be nice like a colorblind type garment❤
Do the sleeves first, then you can decide what else you'll add :)..😊
I would do sleeves with thumbie hole.
Grey cuffs, hood, Grey pouch and Grey trim(hood & bottom. Cool Arch fiber grey😊❤
I agree with doing the sleeves first, then deciding from there if you want the hood more or the pouch.
I think with the sleeves done you will be able to try it on and decide much more easily which one you want to do since it will be almost complete once the sleeves are on.
That’s a really good point. It feels amazing too.
I think you are right about the sleeves and hood. I would finish those first. You could always make the pouch that lovely gray color. 😊
I thought I had a great idea then I read the comments and it seems many of us have the same idea. Stop working on the body 🛑 and work on the sleeves. I agree. Do the sleeves, then see how much is left.
Do de sleeves and hood in a solid color
ThTs an interesting concept. Thank you
Do the sleeves first ❤
You know how much I love making sleeves. I really don’t want this to hibernate again
Gorgeous sweater. Could you purchase another hank of yhe yarn? IMHO Stop now and do the sleeves see which you have enogh yarn to do pouch or hood. I remember reading that sleeves use 1/3 of the yarn of a sweater. So if sleeves are a priority work on the sleeves, then if you need to rip.
I agree with most of the other comments. Sleeves next then pouch. Hood is optional. Or hood and pouch a solid color. Whatever you decide, this vintage project will be beautiful.

You are so welcome. Thank you for being here and such a supporter of my channel.

❤😊 have a great weekend my friend😊
Thanks! You too! I’m hanging out with hubby so I’m happy
Definitely long sleeves, but after sleeves I would go for the hood, I think it’s going to look great with a hood too. But I love hoodies 😊❤
I remember at the time loving all the things about this and definitely wanting the long sleeves. I think I need to work those next.
Hi Shannon, You are going to really like those flexi-flips... they are like DPN's but flexible... they work great for socks and I think you will really like them.
I’m sure they will be fine, I just can’t wrap my head around them. Maybe I’ll film trying to use them for the first time.
I think that I would do the sleeves, then pouch and see if you have enough for the hood. Or….could you do pouch and or hood with a solid matching color?

Oh, hey, if I wait to comment until the end of the video before commenting...
That’s most likely what I’ll end up doing. The sleeves are a definite priority.
Thank you 😊

I think if you add the pouch that will be a lot with the printed yarn.
I would pick the hood before the pouch. Just my 2 cents 😀
I had a thought. Keep working on it , but look at arcane fiber works tonals and see if there’s a charcoal that would work with it. If there is, maybe you could do a gray hood and trim it in the original color. Something like that. BTW I like “vintage wips “ too. You’ll figure this out!

Pick a dark contrasting color for the sleeves and hood
That would be interesting. I’m not sure if I’ve got anything on hand that would match nicely.
Being the yarn is so busy what about a solid for the sleeves and hood and keep the pouch with the same yarn as the body
That is a lovely option, thank you
Me...I would rip it out and finish the cabeling down the front like the picture you showed. Then sleeves. Hood last.
😊good morning
Good morning, happy to have you here. I really don’t want to pull out this but if progress. Lots of good advice here.
I would do sleeves, then pouch, then hood.... but if sleeves are the priority, then do that, then if the hood is next priority, do that, or if the pouch is more important, do that.
Yes, I need to break this fi to simple steps like that. The yarn feels amazing too.
Do the sleeves and see where you're at from there. You may have a change of heart by then 😊
That’s a good point. I don’t have to pull anything out right now.
If you don’t like the. Flexi tip I’ll take them. I’ve knitted with them before and that’s as close to dpns I want to get. 😂😂😊
That is the best argument for doing the sleeves next. Thank you 🥰
why don't you use a solid color for the pouch?
Give up the hood, do a 3/4 sleeve and keep the pouch.
Don’t pull it out yet. Put the sleeves on and the hood on and then go from there.
We know how much I love making sleeves too 🤣
@ yeah, but if you do the first, then you have half the battle done.😊 and then you will know how much yarn you have left.
@ it does seem to be the logical option.
@ Lolol! Yep!
Work on the sleeves and see how much yarn you have and make the hood.
That is the logical choice given I’m not sure how far my yarn will go.
Make the sleeves and decide from there
That seems like the logical decision. Leave everything as is and decide later
What’s the name of the sweater you have on?
Do the sleeves first and see how much yarn you have left.
Sleeves, pouch, hood. ? 😂 😂 😂
You have gotten this far and something about the project is making you not love it. Yes the yarn is beautiful but you can’t see the pattern that you are working so hard for. That being said. Keep it plain! No pouch!
I would skip the pouch and hood.
Work on the sleeves
Lose the pouch and the hood
I think I do need to do the sleeves first the evaluate what’s left.
