- This is a tutorial on how I sculpt hair on a Funko Pop. This video is a guide showing one way to sculpt curl hair onto a Pop vinyl. I also go over what clay I will be using ( Super Sculpey ) as well as the sculpting tool I use. I am sculpting on a Funko Pop vinyl.
This Funko Pop will be a Bride Pop. She is part of a commissioned custom wedding Pop set.

Team Super Awesome Art good job
Hi there. Thank you for making these tutorial videos! I have referred to them a few times while making a my custom Funko Pop figures and they have been really helpful. I have been using Super Sculpey and am at the phase where I have to bake my clay. I have been really nervous about it though. I've considered cooking the clay with a hair dryer or boiling it but my figures have long hair extensions that I think should be baked. What do you recommend to support the clay as it bakes? Aluminum foil? And I am worried about the heads melting or getting soft in the oven and becoming deformed under the weight of the clay. Should I be? (And will I be able to reattach them to the bodies again? Can I bake the head and body separately?)
Thanks again~
Hi so sorry It has taken so ling to answer your question. You can bake the head separately. You can use foil to support pieces if needed. baking the pop will not melt your pop but it does get soft. Depending on the weight of the hair it can warp the pop a a bit but it can e pushed bake to it's original shape while warm. Once you are done you can reattach the disk with some E6000. I hope this helps and again so sorry for the delay!!
Doesn't baking the PoP! melt the vinyl?
The temp that it takes to bake clay is low enough that it wont melt vinyl. :)
But they get so squishy sitting in hot car lol.
by any chance do you know if it's possible to do the same to the mini funko pops or funko pop keychains?
Hi it should be ok as they are made from the same material. JUst watch your pop in the oven as the heat might be to hot. if so lower the temp and leave it in longer.
Team Super Awesome Art ty thank you very much!!! ^-^-^-^
Before clicking on the video I was thinking the same thing and this, was the first comment XDDD
How do you make a braid high and in back of the head. ie French braid. Want to make an Officer Nicole Haught, Waverly Earp and John Doc Holliday from the show Wynonna Earp.
I would do kind of this same idea just add a braid to the back and texture it the same way as in this video. Muse have all the hair flowing back into the braid. :) This might have to be a video.
I'm a little worried it might damage the head. Is it possible to make freaky anime style hair, and super glue it on after done baking?
Hi can you please tell me how you bedazzle a Pop also add glitter to a pop what kind of glitter should I used please respond? Thanks
Can anyone help me? After u make a custom pop. They don't really fit back in the plastic display piece that goes in the box. So my question is. When done, how do u display it back in the box if it doesn't fit back in the plastic thing?
Can u use air drying clay ?
Air dry clay tends to shrink and crack. It doesn't work very well when you are sculpting on a pop.
Team Super Awesome Art , thank you so much for the reply. 😍😊
i just got my customized pop funko of myself & am using it for a topper for my wedding cake and the hair color is way wrong-not enought time to send back and fix it, please help any ideas? would painting it work?-allison
Painting over might be a little tricky. What color is your hair and what color is the hair on the pop?
I guess it's safe to put the Pop in the oven? It won't melt or put off any sort of chemical fumes?
Thanks for te video! Do u reattach the head before or after u paint it?
It's up to you. I find it easier to paint if the head and body are separate but there is no rule as to when. :)
Team Super Awesome Art thanks! I love your work🖤
Is thier anu chance you can Custom a pop for me
What Pop did you use in this video?
It's American Horror Story Cordelia Foxx Pop
Heya. would it be possible to use air dry clay?
This the problem with air dry clay is it tends to shrink when it drys and can crack. Look for a non shrinking clay or an epoxy.
What bear is that in the background at 7:59?
It's a Masked Yeezus Bear.
Hoi! Do you take requests? :3
Hi, Yes we do you can message us through TeamSuperAwesomeArt.wordpress.com We also have a FAQs page you can look through. :)
Ok
The website has been deleted.
Can I do a commission like this?
does the sculpy shrink as it dies?
Sculpey stays true to size. I have never had any problems with cracking or shrinking.
Team Super Awesome Art awesome! thank you!
Eres hermosa
I want to make Elle Driver from Kill Bill as a nurse with a patch on her eye. What figure should I start with? I want a slim body, and all the blank body's are fat.

Why does she sound so scared?
Maybe she's semi new to being a UA-cam creator? I know I'd be scared shitless to post anything im proud of on UA-cam XD
I'm sorry you didn't enjoy my video. Hopefully you were still able to take something from it and apply it to whatever you are trying to make. I appreciate the view.
Yes thank you for understanding, I just wanted to share what i know even though I am not the best at it. It's always super scary making a video. Art is easy putting yourself out there it the hard part.
Thanks again!!
It's because she has that shaky voice that sounds like she's about to cry any moment. Nothing wrong with it. It's just characteristic to some people.
