@0:38 The red square 🟥 is for 0481s “red patchers” who are landing specialists, who load and offload helicopters, planes and ships of equipments and machinery. In WWII when they loaded ships they got mixed in with the grunts and from then on they wear a red square in their helmets and covers to be distinguished from the infantrymen and others.
Woodland BDUs with a set of green jungle boots is still king. It was a sad day when I had to I've those up 😢. OD green BDU I wore as OPFOR at Polk was a close second......also worn with a green set of jungles 😂
I don't know man just the way the Marine uniform makes anyone wearing it look fucking ripped is magical. Also they are just as comfy as the Army one, everyone was always ready to take their uniform off but I always was fine lounging around in mine. (Yes I changed it and had a set specially for off duty, I'm not disgusting.)
The uniform doesn’t make you look good being a marine makes you look good, they’re uniform is the same digi camo as the navy’s but darker they’re 90% the same uniform but the marines make PT a priority.
If I'm not mistaken, the Marine Corps also has fitment inspections regularly and if out of fit, they are ordered to go see a tailor. That might just be for the Dress Blues though.
@@Doomgel Yeah that mostly for our dress/service uniforms. You could get your cammies fitted if you want, but the only people I knew that did that were built like brick shithouses, so they had trouble even fitting into the largest size.
I had the "pleasure" of wearing the blue NWUs (Navy working uniform) didn't realize how heavy and unbreathable they were until we switched to the type 3s (green camo). They look better and they fit/breath way better.
IHWU: never heard of it, that is until my last assignment with PEO Soldier. Went out and bought one immediately. Loved it. Got supplemental issue with all the newest stuff, but the IWHU was out-of-stock. Retired 1.5 years later and bought two more pairs of pants and even another blouse. I'd rate it as the best uniform I wore, followed by maybe the Multicam FR-ACU issued for Afghanistan, which is great for burning bonfires while drunk...I mean practicing safe fire techniques.
As someone in the AF I whole heartedly agree with the lightweight OCP’s! So nice and light that I can never go back to whatever the material the original top was made out of
The red square on their covers is a logistics indicator for Marine units that are landing support specialists so there is less battlefield confusion during landing operations..it cuts out the Grunts asking, "why aren't those Marines actively working on fire and maneuver to kill our enemies?"
Old school PTs AKA Marshmallows really felt like pajamas. Also in Ft Bliss we rocked DCUs, Desert Camo. Way before the uniform that shall not be mentioned
Enlisted during ACUs, got my OCPs during the end of my career, and good god almighty it was so much nicer. They looked better, they actually camo'd and holy shit they were so much more comfy.
My favorite military uniform was getting up at 8am and throwing on some sweatpants and an ARMY tee-shirt knowing that I will never be ordered to do PT again....
The IHWCUs are the best thing the Army/USAF has done in years. Starting from those absolute war crimes of the ABUs to wearing the IHWCUs now is like going from a rental Dodge Journey to a Land Cruiser.
Straight up literally feel like Pajamas. I only brought one set of regular OCPs overseas with me because they're brand fucking new and look great for ceremonial shit but outside of that, all hot weather all the time baybee.
i agree w thehot weather ocp. I've worn BDU, UCP ACU, normal OCP and now this. The material is super breathable, it feels like the non-issue 100% cotton BDUs I bought and wore my first year in the Army.
I actually like the new NWU Type III pattern for the Navy. It isn't really that good for Woodland camouflage, but something about it just screams Naval Special Warfare badass.
The thing I miss most from the Navy is my NWUs. They were so comfortable, and they did the same job every other Navy uniform does: They told the ladies you were a man in uniform.
Lolol! Awesome. I got out in '92. Maybe not as good as today's duds but I thought my BDU's were great, especially when they came out with the hot weather version. Great video sir.
The hot weather ACUs are breathable, yes. But the large open Velcro just looks much cleaner and so much better on the other ACUs so those are my go to. I’m a admin POG so of course I don’t mind it 😂
Chief while your love of the summers is admirable, you have to remember the A2CUs as the OG army pajamas. Go to some flight guys and get you a pair to see how they feel.
In the marines we were at a joint base and we got a ton of my little pony and other patches and we’d put super glue on them then steal the army patches and slap on ours. At the end of the week whoever had the most drank for free that weekend. Velcro on uniforms around grunts bad idea…
0:51 what’re you talking about that camp looked excellent the only problem is you blend in with the ocean so if you fall overboard their gonna have a tough time finding you I feel like.
I was a cook in the marines and I am biased here but the Okinawa cook whites (were the color red but we called them whites) were looked way better than the Army cook whites.
Chiefs obviously has never been blessed by the A2CU (Flight OCPs) It’s like the summers but you get Velcro everywhere to get the perfect fit (Also I think the issued summers are overrated, but the Propper ones are GOATed)
I completely agree with #1. There are simply no options in civilian attire as comfortable as a properly-broken in set of OCP's. We used to be #5 with the UCP but we got our groove back.
If you wore the one piece flight suit, then you'd know it's #1. Because, besides looking cool, Ironing/starching not allowed ( that breaks down fire protection, is what it's all about), and loose fitting too for that safety purpose. Who the hell doesn't want to wear their OD GREEN one-piece PAJAMAS to work????😅😅😅
Even better is the US Army flight uniform. Same look as OCP's (although slightly darker) and much more breathable. After the first three washes they feel even more like PJ's than the summers
As someone who wore a flight suit, I can confirm they are comfy as hell. I mean, it's a fucking onesie you get to wear to work. You put on your underwear, throw on a t-shirt, jump in your flight suit and throw on your boots (bonus points if you have flight boots with speed laces). Naked to dressed in under 20 seconds.
Nothing will top the multicams, the original breathable hot weather uniform the current OCP hot weather uniform wishes it was. That dirty brown tint made for a better camo too.
OG cook white we’re awesome if you were in warm weather but see through white pants in Alaska winter is not a great feel. Also they replaced them with the new garrison food service uniform
I got the Hot weathers for free because i was in Hawaii and we were the experiment unit. They didnt take my name down at the uniform issue so i had the chance to get two more sets for free. But didnt Regretted that. Those uniforms were sold out for like a full year once they went army wide and sold at clothing and sale. Now theyre back in stock but i had to pay for them...
So in garrison officers wear shiny, in country they wear subdued ranks and the red block on the cammies are for airborne logistics guys if I remember correctly
What about the army aviation flight uniform? That shit is nice and has zippers everywhere instead of bottons. Im tired of my things falling out of my pockets.
I was Army PSD but in Baghdad at the embassy the Marines assigned there wore brand new woodland MARPAT with sleeves rolled, while the Marine PSD teams wore beat to crap desert MARPAT with sleeves down. I would have hated to say that I was stationed in Baghdad but was stuck at the embassy all day.
I always thought the Marine way of rolling their sleeves was downright not tactical. The Army and Airforce could reach up and pull the sleeves down. This made it easy to get into MOPP4. The Marines had to remove the shirt or have a buddy roll them down which is time consuming. Having all the branches wear the same uniform is still a good idea. That way the TACP doesn't stick out. Shiney rank was also dumb. There were subdued rank insignia available.
@@stingginner1012 If you roll your sleeves tight, like a dumb boot, then yea they are hard to get down. Also anywhere youd even possibly have to change your MOPP posture your sleeves would be down anyway
0:43 that’s not a 2nd flag it’s a unit patch, NWU regulations states you’re able to take both patches off but if you want to use your unit patch (left shoulder) then you gotta have the flag patch on (right shoulder). Otherwise no unit patch with only the flag patch on uniform is permitted
Just want to take the time to point out that marine officers have special field ranks for their cammies. They don’t go into the field with the shiny stuff anymore.
No love for the FROG (Flame Resistant Organizational Gear)? Much more comfy in flak jacket in 110 Iraq heat with those. Red patches in the Marines are either embark specialists (think beach masters) or a safety officers at certain functions, also sometimes white tape, there isn't much of standard there. The red square on their covers is a logistics indicator for Marine units that are landing support specialists so there is less battlefield confusion during landing operations..it cuts out the Grunts asking, "why aren't those Marines actively working on fire and maneuver to kill our enemies?"

From one CWO to another, the shiny rank on MARPAT is only in garrison. Besides, it's way easier to pin it on than wait on alterations
Army will never understand this because they patch all their trash on which looks nasty tbh.
You can also go full Dorito body in the summer OCPs if you have any lats/traps. An improvement on the winters.
