Congrats in adv! Free Oathsworn give away?! That’s awesome, you deserve it with all the videos/reviews you shared with us. So far only ATO I’m looking forward on this month, wake me up when September end. 😆 Again, congrats in adv on your 1 million view. 🙌🏻👏🏻🎉
Dear King of average, YOU are AWESOME! You made this channel because the way you are, especially by the fact of your real engagement with your subscribers, comment our comments, you reply to questions. I do believe that's what is making this channel and the niece overall positive vibe of the comment section. In my particular case, we seem to share the same taste we it comes to games almost without exception. When I found this channel and afterwards I found we have backed almost the same games on kickstarter and missed some, for almost the same reasons. So in my case, I watch your views because now I know I will hear someone that will have a similar view to what I would have if it was my checking the game. I don't follow your channel for the painting, for instance...it's for the reviews and opinions. Anyway, well done I hope you keep doing this and please don't change much as the channel grows. P.S. - Finally watched your 1 hour review video on Zombicide Invader. Completely agree on the dice issue, and was sad to hear about the power creep regarding the KS excluvise characters. I haven't played my game yet. It was a very detailed review, thx!
Thank you so much Lucas (and Allen) for the kind words :) Brought a smile to my face - I really do love the community we've made here. Reading comments is the best part! Trust me when I say that knowing my videos help or entertain in some way makes my whole day better and really keeps me coming back time after time :D Congrats on the 1 hour watch haha. I honestly didn't mean to make it that long but I hope the detail and examples provided help explain my reasoning. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the best format is for my reviews is exactly. I imagine you've noticed how I've changed it several times by now. Anyway, really happy to have you guys here if you notice any bad change you let me know and keep me on the straight and narrow :D I don't think you'll have to worry about that though!
Sound advice and definintely something I always strive to do. It's why I'm so selective on what I actually cover on KS. Early on I tried to really cover most everything and people could tell right away that I wasn't passionate so now that's all I talk about. If I don't have a solid opinion on it (positive or negative) it won't be on this channel :) As for the review format, my latest thought is to do it in two parts within the same video, one high level and one nitpicky, afterward for those interested. I might play around with this idea but I also like the idea of ensuring my points go together pretty well (rulebook all discussed in one section, combat in another, stuff like that). Hopefully I'll settle on a format eventually that seems to work for me and for you guys :)
Mythic is supposed to be doing a Joan of Arc 1.5 sometime this fall. I'm addition to everything from previous campaign (minus super exclusives probably) they are offering updated printed rulebook, hardcover scenario book, Teutonic knights expansion, and some polish/Lithuanian mythological stuff.
Wow, a giveaway. Very generous from the good folk at Shadowborne. You're doing an amazing job with covering all the KS campaigns. So much to digest in this video alone.
Yeah for sure! Would be awesome to hit them at the same time but they might be a month apart, just depends :) Either way I feel 1 million views by 10k subs ain't so bad :D
September is going to be insane! So many great games coming! I'm happy you added Destinies and Stormsunder to your list, they look interesting. I hope there will be enough money in the backers' pockets to give them all a chance. Maybe thats why Dawn of Madness was pushed for october (although it has a nice Halloween vibe). Thank you for your video! I am running short on them!
Having played both do you mind giving a quick comparison (rules learning, game play, story, ect..) between Oathsworn and Aeons Trespass? Curious on your feelings ...Also would you say that both games are lighter or heavier than KDM. I have seen your videos on them individually but just having a hard time getting an idea of what might work better for me. Love KDM, but would not mind lighter as well! ....Was shocked to find out just now that Aeons Trespass is only going to be $129!!
AT:O is certainly a "heavier" game with more to track, and more systems at play. It's much more like KDM in that regard. Nothing is complex, it's just a lot. Oathsworn doesn't have nearly as many systems running at the same time from what I've played. Both are structurally similar to KD:M but they both play VERY differently from each other. Story wise both are top notch at it, seriously. Oathsworn is more grim dark while AT:O is more grandiose and surreal. How they tell there story is different though. Oathsworn is more long form with some decisions thrown in whereas AT:O is short form with many decisions. Without going into AT:O's decision matrix, to give an example Oathsworn would ask if you want to investigate and make a skill test whereas AT:O asks if you want to investigate, then asks who's taking what, where you want to park your boat and if you made a certain decision in the past. Then while searching it'll ask you if you want to keep searching when suddenly all those decisions matter and you make another roll. Combat wise AT:O is pure co-op with a lot of build ups and the wound system changes things A LOT. Additionally there are story bits happening during battles and other zaniness. Oathsworn has that really cool "cool down" system with their cards and the whole body part attacks as well as the whole chose your dice thing. Good luck picking ;)
@Transcendence Zen Well I mean KDM was originally $100 and they said price will go up for sure after KS....I know that similarly the company making the game is a miniature company like KDM was as well. But looking at the preview page everything seems pretty well thought out. I am thinking the Minis may not be KDM good, maybe more like some of the really good regular board game ones and that can make a big price difference, but not sure to be honest. Seeing what I have so far, it seems worth the risk. tiny.cc/ATOdyssey
Sorta. For instance they announced that the map tiles will now be cards. While it might not "feel" as premium it'll do the job perfectly fine and save a lot on weight and manufacturing costs.
Damn, Dragon ball game, I’m in. There was supposed to be another coming out but I think something happened with the publisher and it never saw the light of day. So many good looking games, I hope at least a few are more than their minis. Cool video, thx!
The King of Average it was called: Dragon Ball Z The Board Game Saga. Could that be the one or no? It denied at ge con 2017 I believe. It was being put out by Lynnvander and Jasco.
Oh bummer, seems to be vaporware for whatever reason. Perhaps the licence got more locked down. Interesting enough is that Jasco is the publisher of the eventual Dragon Ball Z: The Miniatures Game from Angry Joe but perhaps it was made third and not second because of the same issues? As far as I can tell IDW might be the only one with the licence, hence why CMON is having to partner with hem to make their game.
I hope all of you guys can feel lukcy :) Wish I could give more but I guess most of you are just stuck with my videos :P I meant it though, you guys rock!
Yep. Saving all my money for Ankh. I wonder how much all-in is going to be. I'm going to estimate $300-400 inc. shipping. But I really like Rising Sun and Blood Rage so I won't be able to find too much to put me off that price tag.
Awesome stuff! Congrats :) Also, I will add one I think hidden gem of a Kickstarter here: Successors I recently played the Hannibal and Hamilcar game from Phalanx which uses a similar system and I must say I backed the Successors right away as it came to KS like a gift from the board game god, as I wished there was a similar game for more players... Thematic is also really cool as it follows the aftermath "battle for the succession" after Alexander the Great sudden death :)
I am really excited about Time of Legends Destinies as I love the setting but am concerned that the game will rely so much not just on the app but also scanning codes off of cards which can be hit or miss/frustrating. Not to mention on what platforms the app will or will not run on. That is why am not 100% in favor of apps etc for board games as we all know, technology is not always reliable and cardboard does not let you down (unless a token allows itself to be eaten by the pet cat).
@@TheKingofAverage Better asymmetry (too similar sides) and some redesign - I can't find the link I received a day or two ago explaining everything changed. Here is a run through of the current version coming ua-cam.com/video/FQXXSf9NfNI/v-deo.html
Ah very nice! I remember that was one of the main complaints I saw was how each side was the same so that's good to hear they learned a bit more what the audience wants and I wish them a lot of luck!
By Titan I assume you don't me this one right? www.kickstarter.com/projects/goonboard/1268024169?ref=bggforums&token=2679736e - Been tracking it for some time :D
Where are the updates? I always struggle to track info about them. Their FB page doesn't talk about it and their last KS hasn't had an update in 2 months.
I missed zombicide 2nd? do you know when this will come out. Also there will be a "night of the living dead" zombicide version, do you anthing about this?
I know their second edition is their next KS but they haven't announced a date. I suspect October as they've only just now started teasing it on their social media accounts. The Night of the Living Dead edition was announced a long time ago and then nothing but silence. Not sure if that's actually going to be a thing or not. At this point it'd be about 3 Zombicide iterations ago so they'd need to update the rules quite a bit I feel.
While I'm sure it's not for everyone it is one that's right up my alley. Fun gameplay, grimdark fantasy setting, beautiful miniatures and art and an engrossing story all with high production quality.
Transcendence Zen - Apart from world, premise, characters. 1) This is going to have narration... by a topnotch actor: James Cosmo from frigging Braveheart & Game of Thrones. 2) Several professional writers, but the lead one being a New York Time's Best Selling Author. 3) The cartographer has worked with Fantasy Flight, Square Enix, Games Workshop, etc. 4) Artists from another world. lol And as KoA said-- the minis look amazing, the grim art, the premise and the world interesting, captivating writing, engaging campaign, with *multiple arcs* in each chapter-- if I'm not mistaken (which also mean great replayability). And that's just what has been revealed for now. Yeah, this game stands out.
AeonTrespass looks really awesome. Will keep an eye on it. A german translation would be awesome. I think my english is good (I read a lot of technical documentation) but I have alot of respect of the amount of fantasy language in the campaign. (same on kdm) You forgot the biggest update :D arena the contest is shipped this month.
Oh yeah I could have mentioned huh? I have it noted as "delivering" for the video next month already - it's one of my most anticipated games this year! From what I've played of AT:O from the Prelude is that it's written in very good English. The hard words are names of stuff but that's hard even in English thanks to the Greek setting. I'll struggle right along-side you :) Hello from the U.S. by the way! My father was born in Germany and I'd love to visit someday!
@@TheKingofAverage I am excited for both, but will only be able to get one. They both sound great but its hard to judge which will be more fun and easier to get to the table. Typically play duo with my wife for KDM.
CMON mass-produces shovelware-like games with low-quality materials, okay sculpts, and awful rules. IDW is run by racist, sexist bigots that promote harassment of minorities. Meanwhile, Angry Joe is extremely passionate about his games, but he has no experience delivering Kickstarters as of yet. Between the two, it's Angry Joe by a mile.
I'd love more info about those claims against IDW (seriously). As for the two, it really depends on the genre the CMON game is. I do like the idea of painting the minis regardless but currently we know a lot more about Joe's.
Interesting about Conan and Ragnarok. I thought Conan would be coming early 2020 as it's primarily a reprint, plus some small updated to rules and components (new dashboards?!?!), with Ragnarok in the summer. I'd actually prefer it the other way around, as I REALLY want Ragnarok (and more Pantheon content if they offer it). That said, after playing batman GCC, I kind of want to add Conan to our collection as well...
@@TheKingofAverage True, but I feel like Ragnarok will be more of a standalone game that can integrate with Pantheon. I've heard that the game will be mostly finished when the campaign launches, which should mean a timely turn around, like Batman. Hopefully that's true. I don't have anything for Conan, so I'm looking forward to a reprint of the KS content, as Batman has been a hit.
Oh that would be awesome if it's a quick turnaround! Can really run on the hype of the 1.5 delivery well well then going back-to-back like that :) I have all of the retail stuff of Conan and have played almost all of it - absolutely love the game so SUPER looking forward to more of that!
I am looking forward to my $121 cool looking damaged box full of a couple of interesting miniatures to paint and a game that I may try to play sometime next year. AR said that it would probably ship about 12 months ago. It took them another year to make the worse rule book I will have ever seen... once I actually receive it.
This one. Chrinicle X. Their trailor pulled me in and the theme. When I sent AR my late pledge 12 months ago, they told me they would start shipping in about a month. 12 months later... not recieved and I can expect a horrific rule book and at least one of the minis to be repurposed. Reallly horrible. Those people... grrr!!
@@seniscram7958 ah okay you mean Archon Studio :) yeah they aren't great at communicating. I did hear from them after my review though and they went point by point to ensure they could fix it all which is nice.
Well dude. You are awesome. Great review as slw always. Those Archon folks are just grinding my gears. I think they are coming out with a Wolfenstien game. If they can fix these issues with Chronicle X then Wolfenstein will still be really tempting.
Tanks you KoA for this give away. oh wow. really looking forward to oathsworn all thanks to your coverage. for a future video you could maybe gather info about the next 2 kickstarter awaken realms games 'The great wall' and ISS Vanguard. or maybe some info about 7th citadel and the retail version of 7th continent? 1mil views could give you some leverage to ask them for fresh info :-)
Hah, perhaps! :D Making 2 videos a week with a full time job outside of YT certainly makes it hard to accomodate deep dives into games like that, but I've managed a few times, I'll jot these ideas down :) Thanks for being here Denis!
@Allan Nielsen Well you hear a little bit here and there. marcin mentions them sometimes on the monday facebook Q&As, they have own facebook groups where they post experimental artworks and concept art, some people on BGG briefly talk about them etc. here both of them are mentioned for example: kick.agency/news/best-upcoming-kickstarter-board-games-2020/
@@TheKingofAverage no worries, you are doing great. i totally feel with you how taxing juggling job + hobby + hobby projects can be. was just brainstorming for potentially interesting topics :-). Diving a bit deeper into how dawn of madness plays might also be interesting. it reminds me a bit of how bloodborne plays their campaigns and the card location setups remind me a lot of the arkham horror lcg. one of the devs even accidentally called the heroes investigators... :-D
They had two resin collector miniature lines via KS to raise capital for the game and get some needed logistics/manufacturing/delivery experience so you've seen their Nymphs and Eschaton campaigns I bet :) I was pretty much the only one covering those actually which is why they reached out to me about Odyssey :)
@@TheKingofAverage yeah, they mention the tentative start date of September 5th at the 48 minute mark of their live video on: ua-cam.com/video/emb-BGWcjbc/v-deo.html
No and I doubt I ever will after they tried to sell bootlegged versions of other game's minis. KS shut them down until they stopped offering those minis but who knows where the other ones came from -_-
It's actually a little more complicated than that. They CLAIM (emphasis on claim) that the bottleggers were selling their miniatures for them under license. Kickstarter didn't shut them down quite so much as a rival company tried to get them shut down. After investigation their campaign was reinstated. They seem to be trying to go clean. This is the first known case of a recaster trying to go clean. Glad to know your reasoning for not covering them. I was interested to know if it was an oversight or if you just didn't like the game enough to give it coverage.
If they had the license I imagine they would have either stated it or not had to remove the miniatures in question (links to them from discussion boards now lead to a 404). Either way I'm glad they are going clean now and will monitor the progress I see them make. I am pretty picky about what I show you guys though :) Last thing I want to do is point to somewhere and have people disappointed in some way. Edit: I almost backed their first KS that got blocked for a while actually, so I was definitely interested in the game itself :)
Why do games occasionally pull the “app” gimmick? Instant “no” from me. I’m not buying something I won’t be able to play in a couple years because a gaming company folds and/or stops supporting the app you need to play a game.
Same, I have no interest in any app based game. I find the context switching between the two to be tiresome and the constant need to update the app means I often do everything twice. I'm okay with using it as a saving/tracking thing however. I think the first time I'll use it within a game in some time will be with Oathsworn where it'll read you the text instead of me having to read it. If I don't end up liking that though I can still always just read it on my own :)
Hnnnnnnnng no more coop miniatures games pleaseeeeeeee. The Kickstarter miniature genre is flooded. What's a boy gotta do to find a competitive Kickstarter miniatures game
Hmm, I find most of them to be 1 vs. many and so co-op is normally a welcome change :D You're right about competitive ones. Last one I backed was Super Fantasy Brawl and last one I received was Black Rose Wars. They aren't too common!
As always, a bunch of kickstarters with games that have little to no info on actual gameplay and don't seem, by the design of the board or lack there of, to need miniatures. I'm not a fan of these kind of games.
Oof yeah this might not be the right channel dude :( I focus almost strictly on miniature board games :) Live the breadth of games out there for ever taste though!
The kickstarter update video, I can now breath easy! This give away is amazing, just a bonus to all the great content.

Added! I always end up missing some so thanks for reminding me!
Dawn & Demons, a thematic gateway area control game, ends on the 13th! I am saving all my hard earned copper pieces for Oathsworn!
Remember for every 100 copper pieces you get a silver! :D
Defiance by Corvus Belli is supposed to be going on Kickstarter for november www.infinitythegame.com/defiance
Noted - thanks! :D
Oathsworn is my MOST anticipated Kickstarter this entire YEAR! 🐀
We're almost there! :D
4) Artists from another world. lol
And as KoA said-- the minis look amazing, the grim art, the premise and the world interesting, captivating writing, engaging campaign,
with *multiple arcs* in each chapter-- if I'm not mistaken (which also mean great replayability).
(same on kdm)
You forgot the biggest update :D arena the contest is shipped this month.
I'll struggle right along-side you :)
Hello from the U.S. by the way! My father was born in Germany and I'd love to visit someday!
@@TheKingofAverage I am excited for both, but will only be able to get one. They both sound great but its hard to judge which will be more fun and easier to get to the table. Typically play duo with my wife for KDM.
Are you more excited for the IDW/CMON Dragonball Z game or Angry Joe's DBZ game?
CMON mass-produces shovelware-like games with low-quality materials, okay sculpts, and awful rules. IDW is run by racist, sexist bigots that promote harassment of minorities.
Meanwhile, Angry Joe is extremely passionate about his games, but he has no experience delivering Kickstarters as of yet.
Between the two, it's Angry Joe by a mile.
I'd love more info about those claims against IDW (seriously).
As for the two, it really depends on the genre the CMON game is. I do like the idea of painting the minis regardless but currently we know a lot more about Joe's.
Also check out Super Fantasy Brawl from Mythic Games! PM just got extended to the 27th
Added! Can't believe I missed that one >.
Pretty excited for that giveaway. Been following Oathsworn pretty heavily.
Me too! :D Good luck Zee and thanks for being here :)
@@TheKingofAverage No problem! Love your channel, reviews and previews are all awesome!
Glad you think so! :D
Ragnarok was going to be late 2019 but slipped to early 2020. Both are just extensions on what came before which is kind of interesting I suppose.
Can really run on the hype of the 1.5 delivery well well then going back-to-back like that :)
I have all of the retail stuff of Conan and have played almost all of it - absolutely love the game so SUPER looking forward to more of that!
Oathsworn... oh my!
hehe yep, dropped a big one on you guys! :D
Dungeon Crusade's pledge manager is still open
www.kickstarter.com/projects/357343358/dungeon-crusade-book-i-genesis-of-evil ?
lol, this could be an expensive vid to find - now subbed :)
LOL yeah I should really put a warning on these videos :D Welcome John, super happy to have you here!
I am looking forward to my $121 cool looking damaged box full of a couple of interesting miniatures to paint and a game that I may try to play sometime next year. AR said that it would probably ship about 12 months ago. It took them another year to make the worse rule book I will have ever seen... once I actually receive it.
For which game exactly?
You haven't notice the launch of this dungeon crawler: www.kickstarter.com/projects/137044226/forgotten-chambers-land-of-shadows?ref=nav_search&result=project&term=forgotten%20chambers
You can have all monster une plastic miniatures because this company are made them.
Oh I like the art style and theme! Will have to look more into the gameplay, thanks for sharing!
oh wow. really looking forward to oathsworn all thanks to your coverage. for a future video you could maybe gather info about the next 2 kickstarter awaken realms games 'The great wall' and ISS Vanguard. or maybe some info about 7th citadel and the retail version of 7th continent? 1mil views could give you some leverage to ask them for fresh info :-)
Hah, perhaps! :D Making 2 videos a week with a full time job outside of YT certainly makes it hard to accomodate deep dives into games like that, but I've managed a few times, I'll jot these ideas down :)
Thanks for being here Denis!
@Allan Nielsen np :-)
And THAT'S why I love my little section of YT. Now if you excuse me, I need to furiously jot down some notes :D
Awesome those unbiased videos . Thanks
Glad you appreciate the honesty! :)
Late Pledge is still on for Anachrony: Fraction of Time.. Is really good.. I love the minis..
Oh I hadn't seen this one, looks neat!
I played once.. is so good. And the kickstarter with the exosuits minis and the resin tokens are super dope..
Is aeon a relaunch? I feel like I seen it before
They had two resin collector miniature lines via KS to raise capital for the game and get some needed logistics/manufacturing/delivery experience so you've seen their Nymphs and Eschaton campaigns I bet :)
I was pretty much the only one covering those actually which is why they reached out to me about Odyssey :)
Please, Atlantis miniatures needs a shout-out. Their Ogres are great.
Why isn't Bones 5 on here? It starts in 2 days (september 5th)
Reaper has always been hard for me to track. Their FB page doesn't talk about it and the last update on Bones 5 was months ago :(
@@TheKingofAverage yeah, they mention the tentative start date of September 5th at the 48 minute mark of their live video on: ua-cam.com/video/emb-BGWcjbc/v-deo.html
Whoah, giveaways. 😍
haha! I'm super happy to be able to do one for you guys! Normally I'm just regulated to my Patrons so this is nice :)
@@TheKingofAverage congrats on that 1M views milestone
Thank you very much Mark! :) Literally couldn't have done it without you guys ;)
Currently waiting for the Dwellings of Eldervale PM to open
When is it set to open, any idea?
@@TheKingofAverage It was supposed to open last week, but so far nothing. Asked on BGG, nothing😑
Booo, well let me know when it does!
@@TheKingofAverage Will do👍
There is a game not on your list, Dragon Hunters by Signum Games
When is oathsworm going to ks
I believe sometime in October but no firm date has been announced.
@@TheKingofAverage alright well got a month to back this ones before I get hit again lol
Thanks.
The King of Average There’s a count down timer to the launch on their website.
Ah I hadn't known that they made that public :D
@@TheKingofAverage lol I know but at least I know is not on ks yet and I'm not missing out on my 24hr early bird mini lol
why can't I find anything on Oathsworn? Was this a KS?
It comes to KS next month ;)
@@TheKingofAverage Fantastic!
Have you covered the new Signum game yet?
Dragon Hunters.
www.kickstarter.com/projects/signumgames/dragon-hunters?ref=user_menu
That's alright. I'll be looking forwards to seeing more Oathsworn coverage in the coming weeks :).
sounds good to me post new and see new
Some great ks projects...again 😅!
I try not to let you down :D
@@TheKingofAverage 😂
Thank you for the video
You are very welcome! :)
Super Generous Giveaway Im so excited. For that I wish i can win.. cross fingers
Good luck Alben and thanks for being here :)
Love your channel 😍 looking forward for more aoens trepass stuff
Thanks Torben I'm really glad to hear that! You won't have to wait long :D
@@TheKingofAverage your new video is awesome! 💪thank you
Hnnnnnnnng no more coop miniatures games pleaseeeeeeee.
Oof yeah this might not be the right channel dude :( I focus almost strictly on miniature board games :)
Live the breadth of games out there for ever taste though!
