We Stopped Travelling and Never Expected to Feel This Way

  • After more than a year of traveling the world, from Europe to Asia to the southernmost tip of Africa, we will stop travelling. This is going to change us forever in a way we never expected.
    We are staying 5 weeks on a remote farm in the middle of Namibia. Without contacting anybody outside the owners and the two local workers. Doing all kinds of work around the farm, from repairing Land Rover Series 1 to repairing fences, and paths and taking care of cattle. We also have time for other things, since we don't need to take care of the usual stuff, like find water, diesel and food.
    These 5 weeks give us so much freedom and peace, working at our own pace but the most important thing is something we lack during our travels. Do you share this feeling?
    Enjoy the Ride!

    Really nice experience at the farm. For sure it feels different to stay in one place for so long ( such a beautiful place, I might add). And we can relate to what you said about not having much of a routine while on the road and, also, loosing your shape because of the long driving hours. But, and you will probably tell us when the time comes, it will be really good to be on the road again, also. Whatever you (we) do, it's ok as long as you enjoy it.

      It was! The first time we were at the farm was not long enough so we had to come back. Oh man on the farm we were at the worst shape of our lives. Not fun to have the feeling. We think in the future we will like to have a balance, between having a base and traveling for a long period. We have no idea how to realize this ,but I guess we will have to figure out.
      And to your question, traveling again feels awesome 😎

    Namibia and Africa in general, despite all the troubles, gets under ones skin. Once you let Africa get under your skin you have what we call "Africa disease", belive me, it never leaves you! Love the way you are adapting ❤.
    Question, what happens about Bluelandy all alone in Uruguay?

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  Рік тому +1

      It is soooooo true. We faced many challenges in Africa, but it really gets under your skin. Specially Namibia changed our minds in general. I guess traveling in this continent cannot leave you indifferent. The stay in the farm was eye opening. After many months traveling one starts to put things into perspective. Travel will always be a part of us, but we will have to find a balance. South America stays in our plans! It was always our goal in this world trip. What happens afterwards absolutely no idea. When we run out of money, it will be time to decide where to settle. Greetings from sunny, hot Argentina!

    You have discovered the greatest treasure: TIME.
    A big mistake overlanders often make is that they rush from place A to B to C, driven by the desire for new discoveries and maybe the habit of wanting to arrive (somewhere). With your stay and the fantastic film 😍 of it, you show that it can be done differently. 👍🏻Wonderful!
    It took me a long time to understand that. Now, when I'm on the road and I like it somewhere, I just stay. So a planned short trip of two months has turned into a year. A Landy, a ground tent with a wood-burning stove and two large tarps can form a wonderful base camp 😊

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  Рік тому +1

      Hey, yeah it was difficult in the beginning to get the vacation spirit out of our heads, to drive as much as possible to arrive somewhere. It took at least one month to learn that. But I still love to drive and roam through the landscape, even after Namibia I don't think we're going to stay weeks in a place, probably only if there is something we're interested in like surf or hikes.
      I get it and it can be beautiful to build a good base camp, but I need activities for my mind, or body.

    • @verslemonde6208
      @verslemonde6208 Рік тому

      @@Thebluelandy I am sure you’ll do it right! Just take it as it comes and let it flow.
      BTW - with the ‚base camp‘ I didn’t mean a place in the middle of nowhere - can be even in someone’s garden and getting engaged in local activities or working from there remotely.
      Enjoy life and everything, happy travels!

    Le radici sono importanti, come lo sono per una pianta, lo sono per noi. E una casa, un luogo fisso le rappresentano. Altrettanto importante è muoversi, viaggiare, cercando di conoscere le diversità del mondo. Entrambe le cose sono fondamentali per ottenere una apertura mentale. Ognuno di noi deve cercare il giusto equilibrio tra delle radici che ci sostengano e la spinta dei rami che cercano il sole, la luce del mondo...
    Buon proseguimento!

    • @Thebluelandy
      @Thebluelandy  Рік тому

      You are so right! roots are really important in our mind. But we were not so sure before. we travelled a lot in our life and we thought that was the absolute best thing to do. Maybe for some people constant moving is something they what to keep on doing but for us it will be I guess a balance. Sill we've no idea how it will look in the future.
      Hai così ragione! le radici sono davvero importanti nella nostra mente. Ma prima non ne eravamo così sicuri. Abbiamo viaggiato molto nella nostra vita e abbiamo pensato che fosse la cosa migliore in assoluto da fare. Forse per alcune persone il movimento costante è qualcosa che vogliono continuare a fare, ma per noi immagino sarà un equilibrio. Ma non abbiamo idea di come apparirà in futuro.

    We loved this episode! It was calming and soothing and a snapshot of a lifestyle so many dream of. Back to basics, back to a slower pace and back to being creative and in touch with nature. And possibly, what we most appreciated in your video is, authenticity. Congratulations! Authenticity is hard to come by these days with a saturated social media culture which is often highly staged or completely fake. Continued happy and safe travels and all the best planning where you might want to put down roots some day.

We always think we can improve, so let's get better with every video! Namibia was extraordinary and most probably we will come back ❤️ the owners take a lot of care of the farm, it is part of the family and holds a huge sentimental value as well. 🥺

      So happy that you enjoyed it! The time at the farm was extra special for us. This place is so gorgeous and allowed us to have a level of freedom that we never imagined possible.
      Massive thanks for your donation! Help like yours allows us to keep the quality of the videos. This video in 4K was possible thanks to donation like yours, as we were able to afford a secondhand camera after ours got damaged.
      See you around !😎

    So relaxing :) Although I guess it's not all just milk and honey for a white farmer in Namibia.

      It is a busy life out in the bush. And we got the easy parts and didn't have to go through the hard bits!! 😱 South America is still priority, after that no idea. Most probably our savings evaporated by then 💸

    You have demonstrated you can do all manner of works apart from travelling. I feel encouraged on how you guys adjust to new environments. I love the farming bits of the videos and i miss the BLUELANDY in your videos

      We love to get uncomfortable and change our travel style often! It is a way of growing and finding what your interests are and getting new skills! No worries we will get reunited! Greetings from Argentina 😎

    is it allowed to work in Namibia on tourist visa? I would love to do that if someone allows me. In my country visitors are not allowed to work, paid or unpaid, it is simply not allowed and the employer can get into big trouble.

      As Europeans is no problem to volunteer (unpaid) in Namibia. Anyway, we call Marc And Anja friends, so this is not even volunteering. But I don't know how it is for other nationalities apart from ours and cannot give you advice 🤔

      @@Thebluelandy yes, i think helping is perfectly fine. Sometimes the local workers can get unhappy, and report to local employment centre and all sorts of troubles can start for the owner. Best of luck.

    There’s no way you are not going to meet your Defender again after shipping it overseas. No doubt you have plotted your new course already. The travel bug will bite again quickly. Bon voyage. 👍🏻🙏🦘

      You know us well 😉😜 South America was always our plan from the beginning! We took the Africa detour during the trip ,but SA was non negotiable. The stay at the farm changed our view on life and what is important for us. Travel still is a pillar thing in for us, and we and the bluelandy have still lots of energy to burn! See you in Season 3!
