I personally like the new format, but I do have some suggestions for visibility:
1) The larger fonts on a white background I feel worked better. Also having just one sentence at a time
2) As a foreigner, I find it very easy for my eye to ignore the 汉字 and focus on english, so I think it would help to highlight and bolden the Chinese text. The channel Mandarin Corner I think has a very good standard.
3) I use Language Reactor, which works with UA-cam's cc subtitles, to have either chinese or english subtitles, or both. Your video may also show up on their search engine which might help with traffic
