Are the seats comfortable? I'm looking to trade in my Century soon, and I have back problems, so I want to know if the seats in the Lucerne are well-padded and the ride is comparable to my Century. I'm glad to hear the engine has given you no mechanical issues. The 3800s are very good engines.

Yes. I think they are too. We have an 08 with the 3.8. My mother bought it when she was 85 and it's only showing 15000 now. I'm hoping it lasts awhile for a backup/airport shuttle when relatives come in and we have to fetch them. They do ride and drive nice. I never drove a v8.

"solid braking" this car brakes better than any other I have ever driven, the factory brakes simply will not slip no matter how good the wheel traction is. for the decent amount of heft the car has, it stops like a stripped down civic with aftermarket dual caliper 4 wheel brakes and track tires.

@Travianwinner, I had a 2000 Lesabre with the 3.8L. My only complaint was the windows would fail every 60k or so, and dealers want like $500 to do the job (2 owners later, my girlfriend got a 3rd party regulator and installed it herself for $50, and I know people who would install it for $50 too). The only time the car left us stranded, it was 10 years old with like 160k on it and the battery died. Never did anything to that car minus change the oil every 5k.

Whoever the engineer is needed to lose points for making replacing a headlight completely ridiculous you literally have to take the front of the car off just to get to the headlights.. something that's normally easiest job on a vehicle and whoever engineered it destroyed that.. changing a headlight should not be a complicated job.. because if you're out in your headlight goes out that is something you should be able to replace quickly on the spot.. on top of that I would never in my life ever owned a car that has a Northstar engine.. The 3800 I love.. that is a true good engine and manageable to work on.. with all that said I have a 2008 Buick Lucerne cxl same color as video but with the 3800... I love.. except for the headlights and Buick are known to cosmetically Fall Apart.. now I'm used to driving big cards so the Buick Lucerne is no problem for me to drive I actually like it better than the Chrysler 300 in looks style and handling.. in reality it is bigger with Buick Lucerne cxl weighing in it almost 4000 lb...

@deedundone actually the only cars I say do not buy are anything Chrysler, Kia and Hyundai. Most other brands made within the past 12 or so years are generally fine but there are some models I would never buy either (for example, a Chevy Cavalier at all costs - those things eat headgaskets as fast as they drink oil. Impalas and Malibus were ok for what they were though)

@deedundone, my father has owned nothing but Chryslers. Had a Spirit, top speed on a large downhill was about 40mph! Had Aries and Reliants that would not make it up most larger hills, and broke down weekly.
I liked the room in the 300, but I would not classify the interior as luxury or upscale... not much better than a Ford Focus (aka garbage interior). The base engine was absolutely underpowered, and after learing more about it, sludge killed most of them before they ever hit 50k too.

I have a Buick Lucerne CXL and it's the worst car I have ever owned. The Park Avenue was much better. The Lucerne is a rolling pile of junk. Mine has only 135K miles on it. I have had to replace The transmission at 120K, the struts at 100k, the fuel pump at 65k, both front wheel bearings at 90k and 100k, The power steering pump at 100k, the catylitic converter at 80K, the timing cover at 100K, The control arms at 120K, every motor mount twice starting at 70k miles, the alternator and starter at 60k, The AC control module at 75k, the heater core at 120k, along with a whole bunch of other crap since I got it at 58k miles. Just buy a Toyota and run. The only good thing about the Lucerne was the was the 3.8 carryover engine but it won't save you from all the rest of the repairs you will have to do on the whole car. Yeah I get that it's comfortable but so is a Toyota Camry and it won't leave you stranded 10 times like my Buick did. GM sucks!
