Very true but even still you probably get better fuel economy and because its mostly a small car that 4 cylinder motor is going in whether turbo powered or supercharged 300 horses is a nice amount to cruise around on. Compared to a larger car with equal horsepower but has more weight and a bigger motor which means more fuel its no mystery why people are switching to smaller vehicles and clearly that is the direction the U.S. automakers need to head towards if they want business to pick up.
yes and the engines say toyota lexus is a waste of money they even tell you that at the lexus dealer If your not buying a LS then they tell you to get a fully loaded camry or avalon

Yes, it does make 300hp. Now lets look at torque. With small motors making decent hp, its ok. But you MUST have big transmission sets to take advantage of all that RPM. Its a design stradgety. Would you say the 300hp - 14L diesel engines are weak. They "only" put down 1600 ft-lbs of torque.
its only possible to get 300 hp out of 4 cylinders by adding at least one supercharger and a turbo. even with a high displacement of 2.4-2.6 liter 4 cylinder engine with high compression ratio and supporting valve technologies: AVCS, VTEC, MIVEC....
I have this exact lacrosse super shown here! Same color combo but mine came without the sunroof. 1 of 359 with the standard roof. 1 of 498 in this color of red jewel tintcoat. Also that "AFM" System is garbage and not good for the engine. Long term that causes lifter failures and the DOD "displacement on demand" lifters jam and don't come back up and doesn't contact the valves. I have that Dod stuff tuned out on my black 2009 lacrosse super.
One thing I believe we can all agree on is the fact that "crushceeper's" grammatical skills suck even more than the engineering quality of American cars.
I think it's a very attractive, unique look. Problem is it's FWD. Hardly sporty. Plus, IT'S A BUICK! This is GMs problem. They don't differentiate enough between their divisions. Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac, they are all making sporty vehicles now. It's like different looking versions of the same cars. Chevy should be budget/family-friendly. Pontiac, the sport division. Buick, entry-level luxury. Cadillac, top-tier luxury. GM divisions are way too muddled and all blend together.
I like some American cars but mostly the classics and as an American I have to say 5.3 liters and all you get is 300 horsepower very disappointing. In this day and age your starting to see 300 horsepower come out of 4 cylinder motors or even 330 to 400 out of v6 motors. So 5.3 liter 300 horsepower is nothing to brag about then the American auto industry wonders why Americans are buying foreign cars over domestics well more fuel efficient better mpg and more power out of a smaller engine.
I'm from the future here now to tell you not at least putting an aux port on that radio was a bone headed move GM. Also that radio was a bitch to change and now I have a radio that doesn't match the car and has a wire going to the side fuse box. Really lame.

The new LaCross loks alot better but it does not look American. Looks like Buick took a Lexus E350 into the studio and said "Do the same, just put on a Buick grille and the old school Buick side crease on it". Not very original, like the Hyundai Genesis
Ford/Mercury/Lincoln as well as all the Chrysler/Dodge divisions with the exception of Jeep are having the same "muddled" image. Luxury-oriented Chryslers are looking sporty. The Dodges look like they're meant to appeal to men going through mid-life crisis. Do I even need to mention how there is basically no differentiation between Ford/Mercury/Lincoln? It's a joke. I think people are catching on to American generic-ness and buying foreign where there is more differentiation between brands.
I want to like this car SO much but I NEVER liked the Lacross styling, looks like a chrome trimmed catfish. A V8 in a W-Body car is something I've always thought GM should've done alot earlier.
Cause American cars are great when there North American made and not European that's more of a European thing and the North American thing is to have North American made cars.
Pushrod V8 with only 300hp? Front wheel drive? Macpherson struts (4)? And only 25MPG? Jeeze! Toyota can get 303hp from a 3.5L V6 (DOHC) and 29MPG in a rear wheel drive true sport sedan with the proper suspension. Not to mention the quality build associated---GS350!
@crush, maybe you haven't heard about your oh-so praised jaguar and the company's destiny, it was sold as a bargain to an Indian company and jaguar engines now power indian cars such as the "mahindra" , i guess that is why your european cars are "oh-so much better" than anything else i believe ! :D hahahahah my oh my, get some facts straight first before you start bashing&talking , as for VW, they overblow their small engines with turbos which fail on a regular basis! so get real my friend!
These older Lacrosse vehicles really aren't that special. It's basically just a glorified Chevy Impala. The quality basically follows through which isn't saying much to be honest.
The LaCrosse was introduced before the Impala on this generation of the platform... and the quality & reliability track record on these Buicks far outweigh its Chevrolet cousin... to be honest (not just spewing hyperbole).

@nickdolin24 ... people that have a limited vocabulary become reliant on their preferred words and mannerisms ...
i have an 06 mc ss and never knew they stuffed this 5.3 motor into a buick ... i wanna trade over for this car in dark mocha right know if i could find one near me
oh and ..."in addition"
The new LaCross loks alot better but it does not look American. Looks like Buick took a Lexus E350 into the studio and said "Do the same, just put on a Buick grille and the old school Buick side crease on it". Not very original, like the Hyundai Genesis
did I ever say it was? wtf are you talking about?
Its a nice car but its not the best it could be. I would still buy it anyway.
@victoriadish Just traded in the Lacrosse CX at 185k miles on the odometer. I got a Fusion SEL with 4banger and 33mpg.
the color reminds me of puke and Dex Cool mixed together.
I guess the 3 inches makes a big difference, or atleast thats what your wife said!
Still have yet to find a lacrosse super 0-60 video. I was wondering how fast this heavy turd gets to 60.
@Bugatti Veyron thanks! About the same time as my fusion sport
a guy at work has one of these....thought it would beat my zzp supercharged cobalt....couldn't even catch up.
Well supercharged explains why it cant keep up smart guy.
looks like a kia from the front
lol front wheel drive
Ford/Mercury/Lincoln as well as all the Chrysler/Dodge divisions with the exception of Jeep are having the same "muddled" image. Luxury-oriented Chryslers are looking sporty. The Dodges look like they're meant to appeal to men going through mid-life crisis. Do I even need to mention how there is basically no differentiation between Ford/Mercury/Lincoln? It's a joke. I think people are catching on to American generic-ness and buying foreign where there is more differentiation between brands.
I thought buick used northstar engines for their V8s
They do use the Northstar but only in the Lucerne.
lol my lexus gs400 makes 300 horsepower with 4.0 engine...not to mention it was made in 1998...ouch!
Had The 07 V6 Almost Worst Car I’ve ever owned Lol
looks alike kia opirus.
@ForneyRider this car sucks, the new Buick's don't though
Pushrod V8 with only 300hp? Front wheel drive? Macpherson struts (4)? And only 25MPG? Jeeze! Toyota can get 303hp from a 3.5L V6 (DOHC) and 29MPG in a rear wheel drive true sport sedan with the proper suspension. Not to mention the quality build associated---GS350!
Looks good... until you get broadsided and the side head curtain airbags don't deploy. Trust me, I speak from experience.
This car is to heavy for just 300hp
@@romanseano I'll take your word for it. Myself personally, I thought that the larger Park Avenue and Lucerne were the absolute best that Buick had to offer. Although the Lucerne could have had a better turning radius, larger outside mirrors, and smaller interior pillars on either side, the car itself, along with the Park Avenue, handled and floated down the road like a Cadillac. This is coming from someone that has driven both of the aforementioned vehicles.
5.3 v8 300 horsepower that's crap :(
FWD V8 buick what a stupid design.
Acura did the same thing with the TL
