    GM isn't the only ones that do it, Ford does it to (SHO). These cars actually suit a lot of people. I own a 07' Impala SS (FWD, LS4 5.3L) and it is exactly what I need for my situation (something with some muscle, FWD for the winter, big enough for the family). So for what it is, it serves its purpose very well. And these LS4 cars are pretty quick actually, the fastest in their class. I've smashed Charger R/Ts in my SS.

      @@TheSavage3.6 I mean, Charger R/Ts aren’t fast. Most modern V6 eco shitboxes can keep up nowadays.
      So, I think you don’t know anything.

      @@kinocorner976 Equating the 3.6 Charger as a "shit ecobox" is probably one of the most ridiculous and stupid statements I've heard possibly in my entire life.
      Yes, you're right, they're not very quick. That comes more down to weight than anything, as the charger/300 is very heavy. See: Chrysler 200 3.6 Top Speed runs.

    • @jacobfountain8063
      @jacobfountain8063 Рік тому +2

      @@TheSavage3.6 I'm sure he has dude. I've destroyed charger R/T's from 2006-2018 R/T's. They're big ass heavy cars and thus their power to weight ratio makes them slow. Fun fact: because my LS4 Buick lacrosse is professionally tuned, it'll keep up with scatpacks all day. For those V6 chargers, underpowered and slow.. I laugh at guys who throw an aftermarket exhaust on a V6 charger. It sounds like dogs shit and they have nothing to show for. Oh and for the record it comes down to the driver of said car. If they take a split second to take off from a dig they're guaranteed to lose. On a 30-80mph roll I can walk those slow boats all day. Driver has everything to do with how they react and their skill behind the wheel.

    • @TheSavage3.6
      @TheSavage3.6 Рік тому +1

      @@jacobfountain8063 V6 chargers are not underpowered or slow by any means and comparing a stock V6 to a “professionally tuned” car is an absolute illogical fallacy. Stock V6s can run high 5s 0-60 which is crazy for a car with 300hp that weighs 4300lb. Exhaust is another thing and you can either make the 3.6 sound fantastic or make it sound absolutely awful. Supercharging the 3.6 will give them more power than scat packs and since the 3.6 is forged from the factory they’ll take it without any issue running 9psi. Some simple cheap mods and they can hit 12 and push out far over 500.
      You walk scats because scats lack grip due to being RWD and not having enough traction to keep them planted on the road. Race a supercharged V6 AWD charger and that will very easily and very quickly change.

    This car IS a front wheel drive and, despite that, there is almost no torque steer present. This is one of the most settled rides on the market today - a truly "best kept secret"..... It is a lightweight aluminum V8 and provides 300 horsepower. Despite that, it also provides VERY decent fuel economy (mid to upper 20's on the highway). Drive it gently and it's sofa quiet - punch it and HOLD ON! IT PERFORMS!

    Buick is affordable sport-luxury that is as reliable or more than the Japanese. My 05 has been bone reliable and I have done nothing but change oil and filters. No other maintenance for over 134k miles. I get 28mpg on regular unleaded and I am safe and comfy in my big American sedan. I don't think any other manufacturer comes close.

The G.P GXP has both of these features but I don't care for that body style as much. Ford needs to add an auto/manual shift into their cars too.

    I own one. Exact color (actually better looking in person) and everything. Had that stupid AFM/DOD tuned out on the ECM to elongate the engine life and stop the oil usage. Runs like a scalded cheetah. Slow sales and the 2008 recession killed them. Only ~2700 made from 2008 to 2009.

      How did you turn off AFM/ DOD?

    • @MarcMercier1971
      @MarcMercier1971 11 місяців тому +1

      @@bluwng Have a professional tuner do it such as Joats Premium Performance Tuning who knows these engines extremely well. We call it The Brewer Sauce in the LS4 world... the tuner's last name.
      A tune only elongates the time to which you'll need a full DOD delete kit such as LS4 King's. The lifters can still fail possibly, even though they're not collapsing in fuel saving mode (4 cyl mode). You won't notice much fuel mileage drop really.

  • @StormAutoAdventures

    They ruined a great car by not having a Nav system & an auto shift feature available! How in this day and age can you not have these features in a nice car like this. Such a shame, same goes for the G8, Aura, & Malibu. They atleast have the manual shift feature but no nav! Many sales will be lost because of this. OnStar is not a nav system, I don't care what anybody says. I don't wan't to have to call to get directions. I'd be better off with a regular map. These changes need to be made GM!

    Very true but even still you probably get better fuel economy and because its mostly a small car that 4 cylinder motor is going in whether turbo powered or supercharged 300 horses is a nice amount to cruise around on. Compared to a larger car with equal horsepower but has more weight and a bigger motor which means more fuel its no mystery why people are switching to smaller vehicles and clearly that is the direction the U.S. automakers need to head towards if they want business to pick up.

    Yes, it does make 300hp. Now lets look at torque. With small motors making decent hp, its ok. But you MUST have big transmission sets to take advantage of all that RPM. Its a design stradgety. Would you say the 300hp - 14L diesel engines are weak. They "only" put down 1600 ft-lbs of torque.

Also that "AFM" System is garbage and not good for the engine. Long term that causes lifter failures and the DOD "displacement on demand" lifters jam and don't come back up and doesn't contact the valves. I think it's a very attractive, unique look. Problem is it's FWD. Hardly sporty. Plus, IT'S A BUICK! This is GMs problem. They don't differentiate enough between their divisions. Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac, they are all making sporty vehicles now. It's like different looking versions of the same cars. Chevy should be budget/family-friendly. Pontiac, the sport division. Buick, entry-level luxury. Cadillac, top-tier luxury. GM divisions are way too muddled and all blend together.

    I like some American cars but mostly the classics and as an American I have to say 5.3 liters and all you get is 300 horsepower very disappointing. In this day and age your starting to see 300 horsepower come out of 4 cylinder motors or even 330 to 400 out of v6 motors. So 5.3 liter 300 horsepower is nothing to brag about then the American auto industry wonders why Americans are buying foreign cars over domestics well more fuel efficient better mpg and more power out of a smaller engine.

Sure less HP and 50 ft-lbs more torque (even stock numbers which were underrated and stock times which were underated) It would run high 12s in stock form. And dynoed made 335 to the wheels and 350ft-lbs at the wheels. Add high octane? Well its a forgone conclusion.

    Ford/Mercury/Lincoln as well as all the Chrysler/Dodge divisions with the exception of Jeep are having the same "muddled" image. Luxury-oriented Chryslers are looking sporty. The Dodges look like they're meant to appeal to men going through mid-life crisis. Do I even need to mention how there is basically no differentiation between Ford/Mercury/Lincoln? It's a joke. I think people are catching on to American generic-ness and buying foreign where there is more differentiation between brands.

    Pushrod V8 with only 300hp? Front wheel drive? Macpherson struts (4)? And only 25MPG? Jeeze! Toyota can get 303hp from a 3.5L V6 (DOHC) and 29MPG in a rear wheel drive true sport sedan with the proper suspension. Not to mention the quality build associated---GS350!

    Looks good... until you get broadsided and the side head curtain airbags don't deploy. Trust me, I speak from experience.

    @crush, maybe you haven't heard about your oh-so praised jaguar and the company's destiny, it was sold as a bargain to an Indian company and jaguar engines now power indian cars such as the "mahindra" , i guess that is why your european cars are "oh-so much better" than anything else i believe ! :D hahahahah my oh my, get some facts straight first before you start bashing&talking , as for VW, they overblow their small engines with turbos which fail on a regular basis! so get real my friend!

    These older Lacrosse vehicles really aren't that special. It's basically just a glorified Chevy Impala. The quality basically follows through which isn't saying much to be honest.

      The LaCrosse was introduced before the Impala on this generation of the platform... and the quality & reliability track record on these Buicks far outweigh its Chevrolet cousin... to be honest (not just spewing hyperbole).

      @@romanseano I'll take your word for it. Myself personally, I thought that the larger Park Avenue and Lucerne were the absolute best that Buick had to offer. Although the Lucerne could have had a better turning radius, larger outside mirrors, and smaller interior pillars on either side, the car itself, along with the Park Avenue, handled and floated down the road like a Cadillac. This is coming from someone that has driven both of the aforementioned vehicles.
