Another cool video, didn’t know I needed Jackbox balance content in my life but here I am! I wonder if there’s something that gets overlooked by balancing toward maximum score. For example, is it possible that larger groups are more likely to have a higher proportion of shared words? If that’s true, then the larger group is more likely to score multiple collaborator bonuses, which might balance out not getting the multiplier.
Yeah in a 7 player game that's a lot less of an issue, but in 5 player games there's always an advantage. One little footnote though with the balancing is, the smaller the group, the higher the probability it is to get multiple votes; which is why I footnote there being "significant downsides" with dynamic balancing with debug '5 vs 2' games
My friends aren’t really into Jackbox so I’ve never played one of their games in my life (this is not for lack of desire!) but this video was interesting and the visuals are amazing.
nghee never fails to reveal that my favorite pack is terrible (hopefully dodo is free from the bad shackles that is terrible scoring) i do have a little bit of criticism, but it's relatively short i like the intro, but it's honestly kinda weird without a voice over it. it was alright in the QnA since it had you telling us about the gift of knowledge that was about to be thrown at us, but with just FixyText music it's oddly uncomfortable. this could be just me, though.
i was thinking with the 3 / 4 split on the 7 player games if it could be balanced with a 0.75x multiplayer for the other side instead of a 1.333x multiplier as an attempt to circumvent some of the rounding issues; admittedly i also have no idea how these games are programmed so it might not be possible, but wanted to state it anyway as an idea
This isn't actually a half bad idea in theory. The main reason I decided against this was to keep consistency between systems without needing multiple checks, and allowing malleability with things like the group size developer controls
@@ngheeapprentice completely valid, and after sleeping on it a bit i do see how it would be a nightmare to actually implement in practice but didn't take that into consideration for some reason. thanks for the reply, and i'm more than excited for what you have next for the jackbox party packs! maybe i can actually get a compatible schedule to play something with friends within our lifetimes
My biggest critisim for FixyText is on several occassions my friends on mobile just had their whole phone number appear while using swipe to type. Like how???? Does that even happen??? It only happens in that game??? What if they were streaming?
