It's like I know there are countless opportunities out there and I look up internships and jobs and they're all there in front of me, but I imagine doing them even for a day and they just extremely unfulfilling and boring, and I feel lost again. I don't know if I'm lazy and difficult or if I'm just not there yet, or maybe it's all of these things.

I think what most commenters missed is that everyone of the speakers were describing the exact same thing. focusing on a small success builds belief which creates the power to pursue larger successes --> belief-->more success (in spite of failures)--> belief.

A month ago, I got hired for the job that I thought I wanted. I worked hard for this. Just to find out that it wasn't all that. I actually kinda hate it.

I’m in the same situation or similar . I didn’t even want to be in the specific trade I was doing , but with my limited schooling and no diploma it was the best opportunity available . I was making 2.6-2.8 k a month starting wage . I had my ups and downs but i was really starting to get into it and writing notes down and trying to take it serious . Then one day I woke up and said fuck it , I just didn’t want to go and didn’t care .. quit my job and now I feel so lost and I have no idea what I want to do . And I don’t have a high school diploma . I don’t know man I have no idea what I can see myself doing for the rest of my life .. I don’t want to sit around and do nothing but I don’t want to do anything at the same time .
I thought I had my life all figured out, but now that 2years from now I'll be 40 yrs old. I realized I haven't reached those things I planned and I am feeling lost and no purpose.

Just dont give a shit about what people think and do u. Never get the impression that you have to chose 1 thing for the rest of ur life cuz thats bull shit. If u wanna go to college, u can pursue whichever career that is for a while. You hear a buddy can get u an entry level job in another industry, you can do that for 5 years. You can get a permit and do trucking for a year or 2. Go through life at ur own pace. Some may disagree but that's the way I see it.

Hope everyone understands that it’s okay to like several things. In fact it’s helpful. Don’t feel bad about yourself because you don’t have a singular passion. Many people who excel at one thing ironically are able to excel at that thing because of their interests and passions outside of that one thing. Your multitude of interests are what make you unique, and it’s incredibly frustrating that society tries to convince you otherwise.

@@Rebecca-ct4bn I know! That is exactly how I feel! I am completely stuck and I have no motivation or interest in doing anything. The only thing I do is work a job that is hard physically, eat and sit in the same spot on my couch for hours upon hours playing on my phone and watching tv. Ugh!

I picked a path and i didn't like it at all. I am now stuck with it for 6 years and i just can't cope with it. I don't wanna say that i am depressed because of that, i don't think i am, but i am not happy. It is something that will stuck with me for 50+ years. Now i am trying to change the path but not only it is too late, my country's economical situation is not helping. It is forcing you to stick with what you have and what i have is something that i will never like or feel like i belong to it

I wanna do something else. something else with more money, something I like doing. but im not good at anything I feel, i wish I had a goal and work on that go. but I can't seem to find the goal or what I want. everyone around me is doing something with their life and im just stuck here. the things in passionate won't pay the bills. I don’t know what I want to be😞 I want to just give up all I want to do is sleep and play video games but it’s going to be hard for me to make any kinda living off of this I’ll be stuck just in a random job that’s not fulfilling me
wake up early, meditate to the mantra of already knowing that you are everything that you need to get out of your current state. realize that your current state and thoughts are not YOU. and what Peterson says in the beginning, start with small steps, give them more value than before. see those small steps as a golden gateway.
Literally the same here, this comment section feels like a never ending flow of similarities. Im so stuck in life that i want to cry sometimes. Sixth form has been a suckish experience so far, me and my twin bro are stuck with each other and hardly know anyone, teachers push work on us, we sit around with so many free periods and dont wanna do extra work as we are doing the minimum to check off the lists. Teachers ask us what we want to do and we dont know. We dont want to go to university, we cant even think about jobs or the thought of becoming an adult as it weirds us out, we have no confidence to even get up and talk to people and get a job, it scares us infact. We play video games in our free time and make UA-cam videos and only want to wait till the next half-term or full-term off just to get a break from everything. We really would rather come in later when we actually have a lesson and sleep in. Life sucks man, i just wanna stay a kid and enjoy what i enjoy.

I wish we didn’t have to work to live we should just be able to be free to do what we want and to help others when we want too. School was tough for me because I wasn’t interested in anything I hated it. The pressure to hurry up and grow up and pay bills get a family is sick. Like what about the people who just genuinely don’t want to work at all why are we forced to do it.

Currently im graduated with good marks but don't know what to do it's completely dark ahead thought of doing a post graduation but it has only small opportunities when it comes to a job im afraid that im going to waste my 2 years. It's not that I don't know what I want to do. Past year I took the medschool entrance exam that I failed. I can take it again but I just don't know what to do in the meantime. I feel so lost and down
Feeling called out. I don't know what to do with my life better anymore but also my room is hella messy
I feel like I've always been in a cycle where I don't know what direction I should be going in life and what direction I have always been on. I come from a really dysfunctional family my dad died by suicide when I was a toddler and my mum became an alcoholic. So me and my sister have grown up in the care system being pushed from one place to the other never staying longer than a year. That went on for 12 years until I reached the age of being kicked out of the system. With all that being said I've always felt different and disconnected from everyone else and society. Like a cycle I can't escape from. I have really low self esteem and really suffer from loneliness and making long term connections and friendships and relationships with people,because that was normal growing up. We were never in a place long enough to make solid connections. I feel so lost and disorientated with life,like I never know what I'm suppose to do or where I want to go because that was always taken out of my control. I'd love someone older and wiser with similar experiences to talk to about these things but don't know where to start 😕🤷♀️

Jordan Peterson needs to slow down a bit when he's talking. He talks so quickly about new ideas that he doesn't give time for the previous ones to sink in. Smart guy, just don't enjoy listening to him though.
i found slowing the speed down or hitting the pause button helps a lot. sometimes i even put the mouse where the point starts and after it has played I loop it.

i think he's just not into persuasive speech where the intention is to sell you the ideas he's saying. he probably already knows for a fact that what he's saying is true or correct for himself, he didn't need the audience to validate it by demonstrating full understanding. He's not trying to impress people or fit into anyone's preference of delivery more than delivering the idea that goes into his head. so if you dig his philosophy, you seek it and take it through your own efforts because it's beneficial or making sense, not because it's delivered to you pleasantly. some smart people can't talk slow because the thoughts are just flowing in their mind, the mouth would always tryna keep up. just like when your handwriting is ugly because you write fast when you overflow with ideas.
I believe he'd stutter more if he tries to slow down his talking as his brain will have to consciously try to keep the pace slow, interrupting the flow of ideas.
the key is to influence and train our brains to pick up and process thoughts faster, or we can pause and adjust playback speed instead. Those options are integrated here so we could listen or watch everything in our preferred pace. I see no complications with using that.
