A slightly different copy of Magnetic Video's release of Woody Allen's 1969 comedy Take the Money and Run. For those wondering how there could be an alternate copy floating around, I'll explain..
In the late 90s, I had rented a Magnetic Video of Take the Money and Run, which was the film as it's always been seen. Earlier this year, I came across a Magnetic Video copy of this movie and since the price was right (25 cents), I figured for old times' sake, why not? But behold, when I popped in the tape to watch it, I noticed some strange differences. Namely the opening credits, which are different and will be posted as a separate video. Also, it's missing the Cinerama Releasing Corp. logo and the MPAA Rating Screen (the rarely seen M rating) that appeared at the end on the copy I rented. I haven't been able to figure out just how Magnetic Video could release two different prints in the same year.
Here is the opening as was seen on all copies: FBI Warning Screen, Magnetic Video logo (ABC Video Enterprises variant), 1968-70 ABC Pictures International logo and the first moments of the film.
I have been collecting magnetic video tapes for a year and a half
After all my magnetic tapes get here I will have a total of 28 or 29 Magnetic video vhs tapes
Also ordered this recently, Suppost to come today or tomorrow, YAY
I have a few others. These days when I see a Magnetic Video I'll grab it even if I have the movie on another label or DVD release
already.
0:44 music consposed by Keith Mansfield. Song? Industrial Power
On the DVD version of "Take the Money and Run", the ABC Pictures International logo or the Cinerama logo was not shown, just the first moments of the film. The ABC Pictures International logo was long before Disney owns it.
The last video release to have the ABC Pictures International and Cinerama Releasing Corp logos was the 1993 Fox Video reissue. In 1998, Disney yanked the ABC Video rights from Fox and licensed them cheaply to Anchor Bay. In 2004, MGM got the video rights for the ABC Video library.
treadman28 MGM recently just lost the ABC rights, they're back at Disney with liscencing deals with Kino Lorber and Criterion
I also hope to get this tape soon
