Giving new life to old clothes is a great way to be less of a prick to mother earth. It's cool that there are so many new sustainable and organic brands out there, but what's even cooler is using up what we already have instead of it ending up in landfills. Hopefully some of these thrift flips and upcycled clothes can give you some inspiration!

besties if u can't be bothered to read the instructions but u wanna dye stuff, DON'T FORGET SALT! Salt is a fixative for the dye, and without it the dye may wash out or be faint which no one wants!!

Tip if your thrifting a clothing and you have extra fabric left over, SEW IT INTO A MATCHING SCRUNCHY it’s amazing becuse people will be obsessed that it matches with the outfit.

Protip for making clothing bigger: If it has pockets, cut them out for fabric. I got a deal on a pair of secondhand pants that didn't fit. I used the pockets for extra fabric to put in a waist gusset

Pro tip for fraying denim edges: scuff a razor or exacto knife lightly to your edges about a quater to half inch up then scrub edges with a brush. (dish, veggie, scour/cleaning, boars hair or nylon bristle hair brushes will all work for this) You get a great fray w/ less tedious work effort. 😁

4:50 I've worked at a thrift shop and you might need to ask if you want things with stains on them because your not actually allowed to sell on stained items. Normally you put them in a scraps bag that gets taken away, at least in the uk they'd never go on the shelves.

I bought a 25 dollar vans shirt when I was in 4th grade because all my friends had matching ones, and I wanted to fit in. 3 years later, those toxic bitches dumped me. So I chopped the shirt and made it into something, less them, more me. Don’t waste clothes, donate or flip them.

6:15 do not use toilet cleaner and then throw the garment in the washing machine, you can either cause fumes or a fire in your washing machine, toilet cleaner is very corrosive and may melt your clothes (just use household bleach, actual bleach will melt stuff) but some toilet cleaners are flammable and as almost every washing machine says “flammable items” or items with a flammable substance can cause a fire

Putting the songs with timestamps is a very good idea, but also a very time consuming one. Is it hard to use a sewing machine?
At the beginning
not really, when you are juststarting out i suggest making some simple pouches to practice on so you don't ruin your clothing lol. Also get comfortable taking apart and putting the machine back together because knots like to form and get caught in the inside of the machine and jam it, so you'll need to fish em out.
@@KeruuKat I'm really torn because it makes things easier. Like just recently I cropped a flannel and it took me hours hand sewing the hem but It takes up loads of space and I don't want it just sitting around. I'll have to think about it, thanks for the reply! :)
@@mariexx5762 it's certainly faster once you get the hang of it, just sometimes the machine hates your guts and Causes Problems on Purpose lol. Once took me 3 days to sew a patch because it jammed so much
