  • Recording of my speech from The 33rd International Hegel Congress that took place both in Warsaw, Poland and online in June 2021.
    Abstract:
The aim of this conference paper is to propose a Hegelian model of examination of the contemporary problems with understanding democracy. To do so, I point towards Hegelian dialectics of civil society and state, as presented in “Elements of the Philosophy of Right”, and ethics postulated in “Phenomenology of Spirit”. Then, by contrasting Hegel’s philosophy with current political and media discourses that indicate a crisis of democracy, I discuss their lack of dialectical thinking, as they do not leave any space for fully and rationally developed civil society, leaving us with a state standing on feet of clay. As a result, I refer to chosen examples of contemporary anarchist practices as a dialectical third-way response to tensions between individuals, civil society and the state.
