  • A dashcam driving tour video. Fall 2022 Northern USA Trip, Day 5. Looks like a nice town, part of it is in North Dakota and part in Minnesota. Travel in real speed throughout the Western USA.

Thanks for rolling through our little town.
The last major flood was 1997. After that, with federal and atate grants we put up a permanent flood wall which you showed in the video as you crossed the river. The city doesn't flood anymore because of that.
Bonzers is a downtown staple and fun hangout. They are known for their sandwiches and scooners, which are basically very large drinks.
The construction downtown is bolstered by the city's push to keep that atmosphere and history since that is where the city started.
One neat thing about downtown, if you watch the video closely, you might see the brickwork. The older buildings were built at different times and you should be able to see the different colors of the brick. Either from one building to the other or from one floor to the other. Brick was made locally, within 100 miles, and depending on the brick making method and materials used, the color of the brick varied over the decades. You can kind of use it to date the buildings and it helps the imagination see how the town progressed.
We wish you back anytime you can make it. Thanks for sharing your video

That is awesome, so glad they stopped the flooding. I remember growing up and hearing of the ice break up and then floods that seemed to happen a lot. Thanks for all of the great info, I will try and walk around the downtown area if I ever get back. The town looks very nice, I like how it is centrally located on the continent, a person could drive in any direction for travel. I do miss having 4 real seasons after growing up in the Midwest :)

@@AmericanOutbackAmazing yeah we usually have 2 months of summer, a cold crappy, wet spring, 3.5 weeks of autumn and the 5 months of winter.

It is interesting getting an outside perspective, like any city most people that live here constantly complain about it. If you get here in the summer definitely check out the Greenway downtown and the flood monument.

It seemed like it would be clean, safe, and affordable. Not a bad size town and close to Minnesota and Canada. I will check that out if I make it back someday. I have lived in enough big cities, as I get older I want smaller and slower and most important cheaper!

Also we have the Ralph Englestad arena which is by far the best hockey arena in the country. The atmosphere makes it worth catching a game even if you don't like hockey.

    What camera do you use?

It is the GoPro Black Hero 8. I thought about getting a DSLR camera for walking videos, it would be nice to have a big zoom ability. Those cameras are heavy and bulky though plus I don't know if they are waterproof.

I hate to tell you this but, you weren't on the UND campus. You should of taken Columbia road and headed north and you would of been on the UND campus.

Thanks, it looked nice still! Being on the border North Dakota and North Dakota State must get a lot of Minnesota students?

That is too funny, my wife is the same way since she sleeps in the car most of the time. Yesterday we drove by a house that has been there for the last 10 years and she asked if it was new.
