The Wonderland Trail | Longmire to Nadara Falls via Carter Falls | Mt Rainer National Park
This hike was done the last weekend in June 2024. Rainy and cool, we will miss these weather conditions come July and August! 10.5 miles round trip and 1900 feet of elevation gain. We started at the historic Longmire area of the park after entering with a timed entry permit. Timed entry permits can be obtained online at 7pm the previous day for a price of $2. Crossing the Nisqually River was fun, also saw a second water fall that I did not know about called Carter Falls :) Once at the comfort station by Nadara Falls we ate lunch and decided it was to cold to go on, we had hoped to make it up to Reflection Lake. A way better hike than I had expected, great way to knock off a portion of the Wonderland Trail.

New Project M pop-up tent shakedown trip, middle of June 2024. Time to drive and try the new setup! This trip was unusually cool and rainy for this time of year, highs were in the 50's and 60's with lows in the 20's and 30's. Not a lot in this town, I thought it had more shops, restaurants, and lodging for tourists to stay at. Horribly eroded streets with huge gullies and rocks sticking up. If ...

This hike was filmed the 3rd week of June 2024. Wow, what a nice hike with many unusual flowers. To get to the lake it is 10 miles round trip with 2500 feet of elevation gain. Probably 12-15 water crossings due to the heavy snow runoff this time of year, only 1 bridge required. The ending requires some rock hopping but not to bad if following the trail tread through the area.

You could just have a Van tent the windows and sleep in the back of the Van and you could sleep in the middle of a neighborhood anywhere and the United States without one issue, as long as you're not staying over a few nights, even Montana or wherever you can do it. But if you're in a big R. V like a bus, then you stand out like a sore. Thumb and then it's almost impossible

I camped with my brother at that campground. I worked in the Forest Service for three years in this area. I maintained these small campgrounds and drove back roads giving people the Smokey Bear routine. This is a beautiful forest. Especially the upper St Joe. Do you never stop, take a picture. The top of that pass is stunning to the south. Even when misty. I always stop with my motorcycle friends up here. Camped here once. OK I'm done. Montana roads and east are lots of straight. You drive to slow and and ceaseless rambling. Sorry not my style. I'm 76 and time is precious. From Palouse I would have stopped dozens of times and taken 200 pics by St Regis. And I live here. Ask anyone who travels with me. I read every sign, check out most restaurants and bake shops. And talk to people asking where I should go. My style is just like Itchy Boots on youtube. A stunning world travel log. No schedule, no reservations, a direction and vague destination. Have a good trip and drop me off anywhere near the cafe. I'll catch the Greyhound home.

This was a bad night drive for me, I wanted to stay in a campground but they were all under construction or private. I did find an open free spot by the river just past Avery. Most of my trips I have a destination to get to so I can not explore as much as I would like. This was one of my first times trying to explore the backroads, in many of my previous videos I would always stick to the pavement when driving a 25 foot RV that comes with no spare tire!!! No RV now but a 4x4 truck, way more confident. Even better with 10 ply AT tires, ditched the horrible highway 3 ply. I am learning and getting better!

  • @adventuresinmusic2487

What are you looking for. There are no KOAs. Idaho is forests and mountains. It is not a big tourist state. Campgrounds are mostly used by locals and hunters. You are in Idaho = you are in Nat. Forest. Potlatch and Boville are in the Palouse district. Clarkia is the St Joe District. If someone isn't living or farming it it's probably USFS. Just stop at a wide spot and camp. Watch the fires though.

Straight to Harvard and about 3 miles is a nice campground with facilities. Even a small store. I love it, we just discovered the area last year! Did the Waptus River trail to Waptus Lake, a long 20 mile day hike :)

Almost 3k subs! According to socialblade your channel should have 10k in 1 year. You are averaging 50k views a month. I think I found your channel around 500 subs. Do you use the UA-cam studio app? You can use it to edit and add recommended videos tab and other things like keywords it's pretty cool. We just got done grocery. Not leaving the house for the next 10 days. Supposed to be 100 every day. Going to start another tv series to burn time.

100 degrees, where are you now? I use the UA-cam studio dashboard. Every month I get at least 1 person who wants me to hire them to help my channels SEO. One of the biggest things I could do now is use keywords in my titles that are trending in UA-cam search but then a person wouldn't be able to tell where or what I was doing. Most travel channels never say where they are now, instead it is "Wow, I wish I had been here before" or " Wow, I found the most beautiful place ever" Every video no matter what is just expressions like that. I want people to be able to search my channel and find places, when searching on a channels home page it only looks at words in the video titles. Also, if I took the time to do close captioning that would supposedly help a lot to, that would take me forever though. Last, if I was full time I would be more unique, to many people do what I do. I still enjoy it though, it is fun to document my journeys :)

I don't know how social blade does their future predictions but that would be cool if true. I wonder if UA-cam gives preference to older channels and as so many quit over the years existing channels get more thumbnails and better luck with the algorithm?

Since this drive I bought a California camping book, there are almost no camping spots in that part of the state! The few like the one by Eagle Lake have very short seasons, generally Memorial Day to Labor Day.

@AmericanOutbackAmazing no there are lots and lots of places to camp. Antelope Lake and crater lake, butte lake, and many more. Next time, stop at the visitor center or even ask a local. Throw away your book, lol.

Grew up therein the late 60s as an infant a kid during the 70s and a teenager in the 80s. Change came too slow for that town, glad I disengaged from that place a long time ago.

It is stuck in the 70's and 80's. I think I like it because it is an oasis in the middle of nowhere with food and fuel!
