Wow, I would not do this drive again in the truck, to heavy and hard on the brakes. If you are in a car or SUV it is probably not as bad. Probably the steepest road I can ever remember being on for that length of time.

Wow, what an amazing place. I am looking forward to returning later this year and doing all the hikes while camping in the park. So few people visit this gem, it is truly astounding and worth a trip if you are in the area. I didn't think that there was a park left I hadn't visited that would be this fantastic!!!! I hope you enjoy the drive along the rim trail and then the multitude of stops tha...

My cat, "Sunny"says my singing sounds like a yowling cat on a fence in the moon...so...Thank You kitty...! I (think) ( :
Mesa flat - Butte rounded maybe.Like in Eugene,Ore. they have a Skinner's Butte lookout place. I lived there a few months before. Did not like - but it does have a couple good points.
Sure looks like the place Western Movies are made eh -
I am 66 just turned in December 29, Brian - and I have a friend who is one month older than me that still likes coloring books. Doing them - I do recall my mother telling me when I was 4 or 5 to get the lines on the outside first. Neatness - (take care)
You could call it ColorBook too. Colorado=Color es rado (red) espanol from dave's spanish 30 words-that-he-knows! treasure chest of knowledge-
I have family in SE Colorado...it's nothing like the rest of the state : )
Hi Brian - thanks for the video! I love this kind of video...places I would never in this life behold - so that is why I watch this kind. But not just anybody. Thanks for your replies too - that is nice to have confirmations of comments. Like a Receipt? Anyhow - Hello to you and all your House - Blessed! David.
(Louis is someone's "Little Wienerschnitzel) - cute ua-cam.com/video/DQbJQs4wtX8/v-deo.html (Because it says he is in Germany.) Hello Brian and company! -dave
I found the red rocks, this part of Colorado is full of them!
My home town.
Nice, I enjoy the little towns!
Hi Brian - Right now it is 11:18 pm Wed. 22 2025 - ....and Alexa says it is 30 degrees Fahrenheit in New Orleans, La. How about THAT? ~ "signs in the heavens above and in the earth beneath?" ~ Have a good Thursday. -Mr. Dave
That snowstorm was incredible, most snow ever for New Orleans and Florida since record keeping began around 1850!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quite a while back a guy I have watched for a few years now, @ActionKid, was in Colorado in one of their towns. An Elk was downtown eating up their flowers. Honestly! They just let it do it instead of shooing it away. That's a little too protective. Better the animal be at least sedated if not run off, than someone's kid or themself get hoofed or gored. But I am from Alaska too. Anyhow....other than that, they do have the wildlife in Colorado. "Color Red, espanol=Colorado) How goes things for you nowadays? God Bless and thanks for your Toleration of my corniness in the names. I must learn to do as my mother said and act "half my age" eh!> lol >David from Ferndale by beach - Area. (Sandy Point). Beach is about 10 min. walk.
Doing good, getting tons of yard work done with all of this dry weather. Looks like the rain starts in about 1 week, I am ready for spring :) I have a new place I want to live in Idaho someday, Twin Falls! I drove through it in December, looks very affordable and located within a days drive of a ton of places.
{Maybe they were bow-legged:} "Howdy pardner...! Sweet Baby Jesus! A Feller can sure tell You Ride, Stranger...!"
Hi Brian ~ I can Tell-u-ride around a lot. Seriously, where do they get those names? I am still working out figuring what they mined in those towns like Silverton, Goldbar, Copperton, I mean they could've said....! (God Bless and Waiting for Your Next Voyage - David)
Such nice places but depressing to think how expensive they are!
And right there at 1:12:04 I turn left to get to my Cushman Cabin.
Nice, that must be a lot of fun!
Have a NIce Weekend Brian, Wife, and Zoe
Thanks Dave, you to! We got a lot of yard work done, so glad for no rain.
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing This tug below is one I actually have stood in the wheelhouse in Alaska once while in port. But notice he is against the tide(!!) Deception Pass
@ ua-cam.com/video/ngjrMjhsa6g/v-deo.html
I looked at a map. I thought it was interesting you're right near the headwaters of the Rio Grande, too. You're at the Continental Divide.
Always cool to be near headwaters of the major rivers, neat to see where they originate from.
Thanks ye olde son-of-a gunnison!
You are welcome Dave, definitely doesn't look like the PNW but still beautiful :)
I envy the job you do on your videos. I appreciate them and apologize for any negative comments. There is no way I could ever do half as good as you are doing. We hope to pull our 41’ 5th wheel through there in March
Awesome, thank you, stay safe and have fun!
Wonder what they used to mine at Silverton? I mean, can I have a hint? lol
I can't find the total amount of gold and silver mined from this area but I can say it was a lot! Looks like the last mine closed in 1992. Peak population was around 2500 people in 1910. For sure an area I need to go back to and spend some time!
Hi Brian - Back to normal subject now: Have you ever thought of going to all of the San Juan Islands for a day trip or two? Orcas, Lopez, Shaw, San Juan Island (Friday Harbor)? The land of foxes and bunnies. Happy and Safe 2025 from on High to you ~ dave
not much in shaw but on august 29 i went to orcas island and then on labor day i went on the ferry from anacortes to friday harbor
@MarkYav Hello. I did not expect a viewer to respond to my interaction with Brian...but Hello. There you are - I will wait for Brian @American Outback to respond. God Bless - *_*
@ Like I said, I was taken by surprise that someone else responded in place of @American Outback (Brian) to my little interaction Brian and I have been lowkey having for a a few months. But Hello to You Also Mark. God Bless you and if you receive it, so be it! Take Care ~ David ~ Bellingham {area}🙂
@@Davybear-e1o im in the bothell area and i went to bellingham September 21st because i went to my cousins wedding
@MarkYav Aw! I see. Well Hello. My brother lives in Demoines Way area. He has to listen to jets at their house taking off. I lived in Kirkland in 5th grade for a very short time. But I am not sure where Bothell exactly is in relation to Seattle - but it's there somewhere! God Bless - DavyBear
p.s. I do like watching Russ of @RVerTV....who also in this subject, has mentioned he quit tipping the glass 20 years ago. Former Construction guy. I nicknamed him "Uncle Russ"...great videos and straight minded. Thank God. I see he is still "with us"...know what I mean? Enough on that. I have been wanting to say something for a long while now on that subject. I do pray for people, and Robert and Lly (pronounced Lily) are among these still. Gold Nuggets kind of Folks Potentially...leaving off of "Here's a brewery, there's a brewery...blah blah blah. Dave ~
I have only had 3 drinks in the 16 months since my surgery, I surprisingly don't miss drinking at all. Some people like watching others eat and drink but I am past that, won't be on my channel :) Russ is lucky to be able to travel like he does, he gets everywhere! He was one of the first 5 UA-cam channels I ever started watching back in the day.

Nice beautiful scenic drive! Love the blue sky!💙💙💙
Thanks, my first time to this area. Next video will show Ouray, looked spectacular!
👍 Thanks for sharing and taking time to respond
You are welcome, I have tried to comment less and better over the years. Sometimes it is easy to ramble but I have gotten better at not doing that :)
Beautiful place
I loved it, want to go back someday :)
Loved the view of the McDonalds, would have liked more information about the road conditions… grade up/down ect. Instead we were constantly getting information about the probability of you uploading a video. I did learn the tunnel is 17’
Road was not bad, easy drive up and then down.
My daughter and I took our vacation at Big Sky summer of 2023. I was absolutely beautiful. We hiked Beehive Basin and Ousel Falls. We didn't want to leave😢 I hope to visit again. Thanks for your video.
You are welcome, sounds like a lot of fun!
Good thing you didn't take a leak off those lookouts Brian! Might have maybe began a siphoning action. Careful! lol ~Dave~😇😇
I should have dropped a penny!
"Son of a Gunnison!" {Brian's new shout} ?
That's a good one, I like that!
Looks like a neat area! How long would you want to spend there to feel like you’ve really seen this park?
I would spend 2-3 nights on the southern side and then do all the hikes, so 1-2 full days. The northern side would probably take another day and night to see.
Hi Brian! I was just viewing your wife's stick-twirling! It appears someone like that could nail your lunch sandwich at 20 paces! hehe (God Bless Both You and Wife and Zoe the Four-Footed Beast of the Earth that Hath Whiskers) in the name of the lord. amen😇😇😇Jesus
That's interesting how high the Rockies are. I remember driving through Eisenhower Pass on I-70. Over 11,000 feet! I think that's interesting because it shows, in contrast, how low the Cascades generally are. The passes are usually only about 4,000 feet. It's a volcanic range, so the really high mountains are way higher than most of the range. When you drive in the Rockies, you're almost at the top.
I forgot how many passes in Colorado are over 10,000-11,000 feet, there are a bunch of them.
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing Yes. I understand the highest pass in Washington isn't even in the Cascades. It's Colockum (?) Pass in the Kettle River Range. But it's nowhere near 10,000 feet.
I used to live above Lyle up the Centerville highway on High Prairie road in the late 90's. A very gorgeous place up there. Almost brings a tear to my eye. Thanks for the video. Surprised there wasn't someone hitchhiking.👍
You are welcome, it is always fun to see that part of Washington.
Wow! There are still Safeway Grocery stores. I haven't seen any of those since the early 90's here in Texas. I thought they all went out of business! How nostalgic is that lol
They might only be out west now, not sure about the east coast. They are nice but expensive, I go to Walmart and Costco now.
Cool area. I’m waiting for Bigfoot to pop out. The trail looks almost prehistoric!!
It's a very peaceful and quiet area, I would hope Bigfoot wouldn't disturb that! Everything looks so much greener in the winter out here.
@ I’m sure the green contrasts with the snow nicely. 💚💚💚
it's beautiful
That was a drive I do not plan on doing again in the winter!
I was on this ferry crossing today but i also was on the spokane ferry
Nice, sounds like fun!
11:46 i went to that convenience store when i went here on this last Sunday
let me know when your going to try the seattle-bremerton ferry but i think its extremely highly unlikely that it will snow here this winter unfortunately
Wonderful ride here enjoyed this thanks See you soon thumbs up Happy New Year 👉👉👍👍🎉🎉
Oh wow! I have been wondering exactly how to get to Dickerson…… So cool! I also loved your video on Issaquah.
Google maps has you take the Winco exit in Bremerton and go west. Once past the little grocery store veer off to the left and it is close, there is even a final sign for the trailhead once you turn onto the side street. A very pleasant surprise, I had no idea something this nice was in the area.
Love your introduction to the videos. Very nice
Thanks Jen! We have 10 days of no rain starting tomorrow, hope to get a bunch more hikes in :) I hope you are doing better!!
@AmericanOutbackAmazing yes more hikes. Those are my favorites on here!!! I'm doing ok 😌
The days are getting longer now :) I hope your Zoey is doing well!!!
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing she's one crazy kitty. So playful and sassy. She's a blessing when I'm down.
I was considering doing this drive tomorrow. But now I realize how bad it would be in the winter haha.
Not sure if it would have snow at the end or not, I love the water fall there!
So pretty out there! Love the sky
It is a fun area. I have discovered that if a person gets away from the Denver to Fort Collins front range area it is much less crowded and more like the Colorado of old. This trip was my first time seeing the Aspen trees change color, glad I finally got to see it once. I hope you are still doing well? Only 3-4 more months and we get better weather :)
@AmericanOutbackAmazing yeah I'm doing good. My wife and I are thinking about selling our house in Yelm and moving down to Hillsboro Oregon. Bethany Hills
That would be a move! North Bend didn't work out?
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing well she is a physician and they offered her a really wonderful position add a medical facility in Hillsboro 4 year contract. Couple million bucks so I think we're going to hop on that
Nice, you would have a short drive to the Oregon coast from there!
This guy's travel style is a little bit like yours. He's travelling all the way through the country of Kyrgyzstan to go to China. But after about 7 checkpoints, he's not allowed to go in! But he enjoys the trip anyway. ua-cam.com/video/SRt7pOQxvt0/v-deo.html
Wow, that would be a trip!
also i think since valentines day is falling on a Friday this year i might eat here at 59er diner if i might go to leavenworth and i might eat here once im done hanging out in leavenworth and once we would leave from leavenworth i would want to eat here and ive ate here in the first friday of august of 2023 and food was very delicious
have you ever ate here at 59er diner?
I have never eaten there, looks good!

Happy New Year my friend. I like hiking and the fresh air. It starts the new year right.
Happy New Year to you, too! I hope you are doing well :) Many more hikes to come.
Happy New Year's Brian. We are in Ocean Shores right now. Shoulder is doing much better. Love the hiking videos
Happy New Year to you to, glad to hear your shoulder is better :) Finally got a few hikes in before 2024 ended, for sure a lot more to come this year! Our hectic end of 2024 is over, glad to see it gone. Tiger Mountain should be up soon, amazing damage from the November windstorm in that area.
