This company makes great engines! Have one of their 383 strokers in my 69 Chevy C10 with a Edelbrock pro flo 4 EFI system and it runs great every time I drive it!

What if the engine isn't new and may oil in the lifter, I have an old build 302 and I believe it has roller lifters

when you did your one turn preload and then tightened the lock screw , you gave in another 1/8 turn to lock it didnt you just add more preload ?

We did that one turn adjustment on our lifters and it ended up hanging the valves open and we had no compression, we ended up just going half turn and it worked

Great info! Can I use this same method if the engine is in the and has been running? Most videos show new builds.

Yes you can just use EOIC..exhaust opening adjust intake...intake closing adjust exhaust it's easy brother just make sure your lash is out but not to tight

okay so that is with studded rockers, what about typical rocker stands with bolts, you turn it 1/2 turn, now it isnt tight so how do you tighten a ls rocker bolt without adding preload?

How do you adjust the guide plates to align the roller tip on the valve? Also how do you check your rocker geometry?

curious 7/16 bbc rocker studs , used in pontiacs when you want to run adjustable valve train. do you typically do more than 1/2 turn adjustments with hydr. lifters , say comp cam and crane for example? in your experience.

So it doesn’t matter what stroke your on when the intake is opening, set the exhaust?

You call it ice. I go EOIC. Exhaust opening, Intake closing. Work out the same in the end

What does it do when you trim off the middle divider on the intake? How much do you take out?

    • @tannermcclellan3021

If your running a solid rail rocker set up yes. All ls motors from factory are set with a guide plate and use a 7.400 pushrod. 22ft pounds of torque on the bolts for rockers

Most of the time a tick is either a rocker or an exhaust leak, look at the manifold to head gasket and collector gasket and any flanges if you don’t see any black then adjust the rockers, make sure you do the procedure for an ls though I’m not sure if they are different

    • @eF154

Ls is not adjustable. If that's the issue, you'll need to change pushrod length instead

Why does a bigger rocker arm stud take more preload?

    • @stephensteigerwald2129
      @stephensteigerwald2129 4 місяці тому

7/16 diameter rocker studs have a different thread pitch (course thread) than a 3/8" diameter rocker studs (fine thread) because of that difference in thread pitch, the distance the nut travels downward is less with the fine thread than the course thread.
Results are, to get the same .080-.100" preload you have to turn the nut farther on the 3/8 stud than you would the 7/16" stud. Hope that helps you

So by locking down the rocker you actually added almost an other 1/4 turn=
1 1/4 turns from zero lash after lockdown???????
