    The oil pan leak being sprayed by the flywheel is a constantly replenishing undercoater. That's probably why the starter was mostly rust free and worked fine once it had a good ground.

    Hey Rich!!! He's not wrong about the window motors, whenever I had to replace window motors in my cars when I was younger I would also improve the wire guage, some of them run like 18 guage crap into the door!!! Get some 12ga or even 10ga into it, so you can avoid the voltage drop at the motors and they'll last WAYYY Longer.

    • @williamstamper442
      @williamstamper442 2 роки тому +2

      Now how could the original engineers miss this fact? 18ga for a window regulator motor? That's just simply ridiculous!
      Seriously, this is a great point you make. I dunno about 10 guage because even stranded, in that size, don't like to bend over time as it passes thru the jamb to the moving part otherwise known as the door. Your point is well received.

      I've had dozens of squarebody trucks. They ALL need to have the rollers and tracks lubricated, even the manual window trucks need it. While the relay mod is definitely an improvement, most of these trucks just need the tracks and rollers lubricated.

Old plastic can be brought back or rather convinced it's younger if you get it into a more flexible state. I've removed quite a bit of old super poor quality plastic using this method. If you're doing long trips then I think you know which motor would be easier on your mind and wallet, for reliability and MPG.

    I want to see you upgrade the old 454 there's a lot of potential there

    You should troll everyone and say your putting a 4 cylinder Honda engine in it for reliability and fuel efficiency reasons. That'll be hilarious

    Whats the over/under on the number of trucks it will take to finish the voltron squarebody? My guess is 3.7

    Keep the 454, but rebuild and upgrade the injection system. It won’t get you any MPG’s, but nothing in that truck will! Love it!

    It's a survivor, so I'm torn. If you love your wallet, swap to the 6.0, if your a purist, damn the money, keep the 454.

    I'd change nothing on that truck but what it needs... I love those years. Had a k1500 and a k5 blazer . I love them.

    swap that 454 for a 8.1L it would be perfect for that 3500. works just like an ls but more torq

    It's been a rough winter to work outside on vehicles in New England. I just got a c30 running with the 6.5 turbo diesel. I know it's not a square body but it was cheap.

    Keep the 454! If anything bore it out to 468 like the old days and put a cool cam in it. Instant 1980’s goodness.

    Square Body trucks are like NFT's. There are a few good ones but most are worthless. (or fill in the blank..I don't know...I'm winging it here.)

  • @xXAlexbXx-hl9nf
    @xXAlexbXx-hl9nf 2 роки тому +1

    KEEP THE 454.
    Put a cam in that 454 and it will sound SO badass. It already sounds badass and you will absolutely love the low down torque and drivability overall. The price at the pump may not be too nice but you know better than most that pretty much any truck isn't polar bear friendly.

    The 454 is so cool. But if you plan on putting real miles on this truck maybe the better gas mileage would be better.

    Yeah to hell with either the 6.0 or 454, its asking for a 12v or an lbz, and at the very least it needs an 8.1 vortec

    The '80s amber tint on the windshield looks period correct at a quick glance. A period blue tint would look good with that body color.
