It's kind of incredible to see my progress in that I used to rely so much on Zizaran's videos and now when I watch them I realize that I don't actually need them anymore. And I mean this with the biggest gratitude. Thank you for making these videos so new players can easier get into the game, and especially endgame.
Fr tho, its that point where you really see how much youve grown as a player. I personally did learn something from this tho, i was not aware if just how important essences were, i almost always skip them during campaign and ig i never stopped to look at them in maps before, i had to buy an essences tab after watching this bc i respected my current tree to include them...
i always tell people to pick whatever they like on the atlas passives, cause if you do content you enjoy, that makes you play the game longer and thus generates more currency than all those "best chaos/h strats"
you could give me every single item to start a permanent loop for a divine every 20 minutes, but if im not enjoying it while i play it... I'm not doing it.
I spent divines worth of unmakings just to test every single strat I could find and see the results and they were all pretty much the same, you're absolutely correct you might get lucky with drops here and there but generally speaking it's the amount of time first thennn the resources and information and experience that'll help you further.
Have a friend playing his first proper league and while we were playing last weekend he asked what was "the best" to do and I told him he just has to play and find what he likes, and then do that

Also worth mentioning: The maps Kiracs sells reset every time you do a Kirac mission. This way you can get a lot of maps you have not yet completed.
Yeah this is a very important tidbit for new players, check his shop before doing his missions just so you dont miss maps you need bc completing every map is really important for those atlas points
I personally dont play for efficiency, i full clear every map (unless im going back and filling in missing low tiers, then i just sprint for the boss) bc i enjoy the mapping aspect of it more than i like being super efficient and min maxing to clear as fast as possible
Same. It's an ocd thing. If that monster counter in the top right isn't 0 I'm not satisfied.
One thing that might be good to mention for newer players is to always scour the maps before chiseling them or else you will be wasting anywhere from 6-16 extra chisels on each map
Eh, honestly my advice for new players would be to save their chisels until they get to a point where they are mass farming a single map and stacking that map for loot, until that point the benefit of 20% extra quant/qual is negligable and when you do start farming a single map over and over thats when youll want every oubce of quant/qual as possible
I am definitely for blocking. It might not be the most optimal solution, but blocking mechanics that really throw you off from clearing a map are a real distraction. What the eyes didn't see, the heart can't miss. While clearing the atlas, leave the quick things in (Harbinger, Strongboxes, Imprisoned Monsters, Smuggler's Stashes, Metamorph, Altars, Mirrors and Breaches). They might not be the easiest, but they keep you in the zone. Then you can, and should specialize.
I agree except in the case of a couple you should never block bc doing them in a map is an easy way to get tons of extra mobs, those being abyss, breach, metamorph (1 mob but essentially a second boss for the map so more loot for little effort) and the mirrors (cant remember the league mechanics actual name)

Just got my first character to lvl 80 in PoE and having a hard time getting gear. What is the best thing to do.? Grind maps for currency or what did you guys do.?
Depends on where your character gets stuck and if you're doing solo self-found or whatever.
You're 80, but you could grind to that in acts if your character is too bad to do maps. Which is quite possible if you didn't follow a guide.
So here are some options:
Your character sucks and you're on SSF. Go do heist. You don't have to do much killing here- just enough to let your buddies open the boxes. And some boxes open without even having to kill anything. Some heist types have a high % to guarantee unique drops, and while these are relatively low end, they can be a big power boost over low end rares.
Your character sucks and you're on trade: Go to act9 or later, and collect full sets of unidentified rare items. Sell to a vendor for 2 chaos orbs. Do this like 10 times, and then buy good 1-5 chaos uniques for your character on trade site. And then stop doing the chaos recipe because it sucks unless your character really needs the help to make progress. Some great uniques are very cheap because they're the "consolation prize" for bosses that are being constantly run.
Your character is okay enough to do maps... then run maps. As high as you are able. Try to unlock as much of the atlas passive tree as you can. Preferably stuff that doesn't require killing very dangerous enemies. eg, heist caches.
Expedition is very good for giving a variety of helpful things including raw currency- but you'll need to be careful what mods you set if you're too weak to handle it. This gives you raw currency, a way to craft decent rare items, and you can sell your first few logbooks on trade for fairly good money.

I would need more details about your build and personal struggles to fully answer.
But regardless lack of knowledge is the number 1 road block. Not luck, not even what skill you picked to start(though some are much harder). Lack of knowledge is the problem mainly for everyone. The specific knowledge comes down to what your character is missing, and what you could do to fix it that is available within the game.
Sometimes what is stopping you from increasing damage can be as simple as not knowing a vendor recipe. For example you can sell a magic wand with a ruby ring and orb of alteration and the vendor gives you a new wand with added fire damage to spells. This is one vendor recipe of many and you can control your items in this manner. Are you doing a cold damage spell build? Go learn beginner vendor recipes and take control of your items stats, increasing your damage substantially.
Secondly, you need a 6 link or as close as you can get to one. If you don’t have one or it seems impossible don’t blame it on just bad luck. There are specific mechanisms in the game of great variety to obtain a 6 link and get decent stats on it. One way of many is getting the divination cards for a 6 link. For example, if you are doing a bow build you can farm several desert tile set maps that all drop the imperial legacy card. Run these maps over and over, not only will you get experience, loot, and resources, but you will eventually get your 6 link bow. Then use an essence matching the damage type of your skill to roll your new 6 link bow with damage.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. So many ways to take control. There is a reason solo self found works. You can actually play the entire game without trading. And while that’s harder, it’s not as hard as people think. They just lack knowledge.
@@tripleraze321 thank you very much. I'm doing a dead eye ice spear build I believe it's called. Actually just started to farm divination cards to get a 6 link bow. From there i need to get more resistance and damage. Right now I am grinding maps lvl 2-3 for gear and currency. The essence thing i will look more into as I am still trying to wrap my head around crafting

So general question for anyone willing to answer "new to SSF player" just started mapping, familiar with every league mechanic except for expedition. Ziz talks a lot about it and it seems it's very good for early IL 86 gearing. How do you get IL 86 from expedition? any pro tips?

There is two sides of atlas tree, you take what you like and it feels bad to progress on ssf hc, or you take essences and expidition, and craft on 86 ilvl bases easily

Delirium has one neat passive, that it has chance to add rewards. Then you can run maps with one orb and got 6 orb reward by rng.

Hey ziz. I was wondering how many "Shaping of" passives do you suggest for getting 110-120 atlas completion quickly on SC, to a point where it's not overkill?

Biggest problem I have is not having descent gear. I am new, played very slow through the campaign to get to know everything, just to find out in the end that I know nothing 😂. I have some gear pieces at level 55 and still run them, mostly because that was a 6 slot tunic and no other has dropped since. My resistances are ok-ish. I can grind to tier 3 grey maps but anything else with modifiers and I die instantly. So if anyone can tell me what the best way is to get me going forward it is much appreciated!

No difference except whats written on the node. You pick all to get higher tiered maps modtly
@@VividFlash I take them all to start, but I only need 1-2 or so for sustain with 3-4 voidstones. Everyone just says to take them all when you don't actually need them all. But it's hard to make a decision on which one to drop because no one actually explains what they individually do.

beware of rogue metamorph, he can really slap/ be very problematic, had some that were legit harder than most T16 map bosses lol.

Ummm what the hell is a scarab, chisel and sextant. What do they do? How do I get them? Some of your guides are good and some you just gloss over things that new players have no idea about and dont explain them. Would be really helpful if you could explain items you talk about on a beginners tips video.

What does "essence is on the atlas as well" mean?
It means that you can get essence on map device for few c and force essences to spawn in your map.

I have used abyss for 86 bases. Didn't know about expedition for it. I start with abyss essences heist I add a small bit for blight for oils all on ssf

So early maps: Have a ton of that sextant currency. Very newbie / early map friendly tip.
Tbh I can't seem to do anything without getting insta killed. Am I too low of a level? Like.. this is why I quit playing before. Finish the story, then suddenly I'm getting ran over by everything, and there's nothing to do

I think I'll focus on betrayal first to get recipe and then shoot for Essence nodes. Once get geared better into the late game I'll switch to Delves and Abyss. I love how it's set up so players can choose what kind of endgame stuff they want to focus on. Is Harvesting still a thing, my friend told me that was nerfed sometime back.
harvest was heavily nerfed but can still be good if you spec heavily into it, one of my friends last league made some really strong gear from it but it takes alot of effort unless RNG is on your side.
@@Valkirth I see. That's a shame because it used to be so powerful for crafting. Expeditions or delving might be the next best thing for me then.
@@sathic609 Harvest is one of them things where you go all in or not at all, which of course for many people just isn't possible depending on how they are spec their tree but if you are willing to go all in it can be great (this league I might actually try harvest depending on how I spec the atlas)
expeditions is always great and you can never go wrong with it, hunting beasts if you know how to get the most out of it (such as farming craicic chimerals for Synth imprint/re-rolling but this is a more advance trick).
the beauty about the atlas tree is the sheer amount of way's it can be spec'd and still be great, just mostly depends on what your goal is, generally I say don't spec into more than 3-4 mechanic's at a time and don't be afraid to respec later on to other things which is how I do it and it works great, in Sanctum I spec'd into delirium and it did not pay off so I moved them points to legion and had much more success.
@@Valkirth Yeah I like how there a lot of options to tailor a players endgame to do what they want to do. I doubt I'll go all into harvest but maybe later on just try it.

It's worth calling out that you can easily over think your Atlas tree... I've burned so much currency respeccing my tree over and over

New league looks cool but I won't be playing. PoE feels very gate kept by meta builds which is, in my opinion, one of the only bad things about the game. The endgame is expansive and offers a ton of content, but it's not fun to run that content when you're dying over and over. My build and gear could be better, but I shouldn't have to run the absolute most optimized version of it to even have a chance.
Sounds like you need to work on your gearing, crafting, and currency farming. Someone literally beat a8 sirus back in Delirium league with only Move Only on their hotbar. Meta builds aren't the only way to progress.
most definitely don't need a meta build to progress, they just do it more efficiently/faster, quite a few leagues I've build wacky/off meta builds just to see how far I can take it and only 2 didn't make it past T14/T15 due to scaling damage being really hard to do or insanely expensive.
@@kirascendant move only with a myriad of on hits, I'm assuming? I didn't say the game wasn't possible without meta builds, I said meta builds make the game trivial whereas anything else can be very difficult to clear higher tiers/bosses.
@@Valkirth I'm at t15 maps with my current build. It's by no means meta, and by no means good, but I have to sweat my ass off to keep up with the enemies. If t15 maps are the "hardest" content, maybe I'm overthinking things.
@@latedriver9019 This is a common trap for players. Unless you are at level 92+ with really good items, then you need to farm currency in maps that don't have you absolutely sweating, and/or really keep your eye on the mods you roll. Certain map mods like multiple damage mods, reflect mods, or multiple monster speed/player speed mods. Pushing the hardest content you can do can be fun, but it's also inefficient amd exhausting.
