I still can't get over how at the emotional moment in twisted everyone has a really strong and impactful part that's significant for their character and aladdin is just repeating "I steal everything". It cracks me up every time.
The first time I watched TGWDLM I heard Jaimie’s high note at Join us and Die and I physically had to pause the video and remember to breathe. You think I’m kidding I’m n o t
Honestly if any starkid show was cast differently it would be so weird. Like imagine Lauren not as zaz, or Darren as Harry, or Robert as prof. Hidgens, or Joe as Umbridge. I feel that starkid does such a good job with casting. And I can't imagine any one else playing our favorite roles
@@ayalaavt2459 You're rightttttt - it's like every character has something totally special because of the actor playing them, and it just wouldn't be as fantastic without them.
Some day, someone will give Chorn the appreciation it deserves. And I’ll be there to bid them welcome. Until then, I shall listen to it on repeat for the rest of the night. Deuces.
Tbh I completely forgot that Chorn was the title of the song, and I just thought everyone was talking about the person (Alien?) which, honestly, still valid.
the fact that the one specific part of If I Believed is in here makes me so happy but so sad, ya know it's so depressing but i love that it's getting the recognition it deserves
This. I adore the score and the first two acts weren't bad but they weren't amazing either. The whole thing falls apart in the third act when they abandon their thematic elements to make a bunch of new political statements and then wrap everything up with an unearned Deus Ex Machina.
@Robertson Thirdly all the person said was that they didn't thing the third act was well done and it felt like a bunch of political statements got tossed in in lieu of finishing the story itself. Which is a pretty valid opinion, there at plenty of starkid fans who feel that Firebringer wasn't the most well written musical. No need to get so snarky.
"Let them bury the side of the story they'll never learn" is such a fantastic line, that holds so much historical relevance, and Dylan's delivery of it just makes it even more impactful. I will die on this hill
it never ceases to amaze me how HORRIFYING the ending to inevitable is. something about the way everyone sings show stopping number accompanied by emma's screams just shakes me to my core. and the way she sobs in terror as paul approaches her?
All starkid songs are amazing. *Sees let it out* Hold on a second....... *Ears literally explode with idek what I've run out of ideas for a joke basically let it out is great*
Meredith really kills it in the Night Belongs to Us. Altos need more love. I'm surprised at the lack of evil reprises. Maybe that would be a good ranking video?
I love the mix of Meredith and Dylan honestly. Their voices are just so pretty together. Also all those clips and no Robert as Gaston? With the whole "the heart wants what it wants! And what it wants is *twisted* " Also you should do a video of the most satisfying dance sections in starkid shows. Like in lah dee dah dah day with the arms thing lauren does. Or change in the climate. Or the kicks robert does in show stoppin number or the entirety of america is great again or no one remembers achmed.
I've listened to if I believed hundreds of times and I still get overwhelmed by chills every time without fail. Like it starts at the start of the song then its building for a bit but the second he gets to "science says you're dead and gone forever" its shot up and then "SOMEWHEERRRREEE" just absolutely floors me every time
All their rad harmonies and ridiculous belts (our queens Jaime and Mariah mostly) and just everything that comes out of Dylan's mouth. XDDD. Bonus points to Rachel and Jeff too. Happy Ending has three of my favorite starkid vocalists, kinda surprised it's not my favorite song.
Ok, I cannot be the only one who shivers at “I’ll give them all the unsung anti hero they deserve” in Twisted like first of all just the line in general is so powerful and then you add Dylan’s voice on top of that and just... I’m dead
The part in Let it Out when Jon sings “God help me out” is honestly one of my favorite vocal moments in the show and it leaves me shook every time. I mean the whole cast leaves me shook every time
MatterMatters 101 Clark’s voice is beautiful. Like honestly some of the songs in that musical are bomb as fuck. The musical itself in my opinion is not the best but I could listen to Clark sing long ago and far away for hours.
ok but the “show stoppin number” section of “inevitable” absolutely DESTROYS me. like it makes me want to cry in a weird way because it’s so deeply ironic. the happy 11 o’clock chorus paired with emma screaming bloody murder is so breathtaking. the flavour is IMMACULATE
I love how there's two type of chills. There's the ones you get from excitement and anticipation that gets you on the edge of your seat like Inevitable or Kick It Up a Notch. Then there's the ones that just break your heart and makes the whole audience silent, like When the World's at Stake or Not Alone. And it's beautiful how StarKid can pull off both in the same show, even in a matter of minutes. I don't know, prolly just me overcomplicating things.
Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Twisted as a whole, I can always agree that any time Dylan sings, especially in his upper register is just the absolute best. I'm so glad he was in Black Friday so the I, as a newer StarKid fan, could discover his amazing voice.
i understand why you put the demo for the power in me i’d never heard it before!!!!!! but i do have to say the way dylan and rachel sing “you are kind and that’s enough” “you’re a diamond in the rough” gives me chills and tears every time
3:04 I literally opened UA-cam to listen to this song because this specific part was stuck in my head. I had gotten side tracked by seeing this video was up and was not disappointed this moment was here. 💖
I agree with like...most of these, but some of the songs you picked I think a different part of them make me shiver. Like in Happy Ending. Everyone does the end harmonies but the part that gets me is "I know what you're wishin so with your permission, I'd like to bring back your bride"
I’m so happy you included ‘Great Again’ the first time I heard it, I had chills all over my body. Another line that gave me chills is “Emma I’m sorry. You lost” and ‘Spies Are Forever (Owen’s Reprise)’
all songs w pretty harmonies make me absolutely mcswoon

The fact that Dylan Saunders actually cried during his solo in Twisted and it still sounded so good🤯
