I love that everytime General McNamara (the best character in the series) is on screen you can hear America Is Great Again (the best song in the series) in the background
I've said it before and I'll say it again, NPMD has the strongest vocals of any Starkid production I've seen. Everyone was on their A-game and all of the songs fit their voices so nicely. I think the only song from a show by a NPMD actor better than their songs in NPMD is Angela. She's stunning always, but her performance in Friday is Black for Me is just peak use of her voice type imo. Dylan I don't have as much to compare to since all of his other SK stuff is much older, but his performance in all of Black Friday, especially his solos, were some of my favorite parts of the show vocally. TGWDLM is a super fun show, but not many of the vocals really blew me out of the water other than Mariah. What I would really love to see is Jon re-record Let it Out after he did all that vocal training for NPMD, like the original was rad of course, but with Jon's improvement now he'd probably kill it even harder. I realize now that this comment is very long, but I just have too many thoughts lol.
Angela is a power alto and we don't get much of those in musical theater. Mostly the sopranos (like Mariah, Jaime, Lauren and Jeff [lmao]) take the spot light. Also, Angela's solo in Black Friday is just called Black Friday.
I'm pretty sure for some parts they dubbed in the cast recordings. Sometimes the audio feels too processed and perfect for it to be the actual live performances. The 'hungry for more' bit in Dirty Girl for example sounds exactly the same as the recording. Same with the ending of Literal Monster.
Such a shame that Angela's intro to Starkid was when everyone was sick (Black Friday). I knew her vocals were good, but NPMD absolutely floored me with her voice. The opening of Bully the Bully?! Holy shit how did she do that
