I am a traditional Catholic priest and offer only the Traditional Roman Rite of Mass. Through the years I have had much to do with what I call "recovering charismatics". This movement is DANGEROUS! Most "charismatics" start out looking for a deeper relationship with Almighty God and finish in a state of total spiritual dishevelment and even mental illness. Catholic Tradition can bring some out of danger before it's too late. Others slip deeper and deeper into this dark hole of deception which the charismatic movement creates. It's a tragedy of epic proportion in that many bishops and priests see this "movement" as the future of the Church! Only a return to the full Tradition of the Church is the future of the Catholic Faith.
Gifts can be couterfit but also authentic. They even thought the apostles had too much to drink. Paul says in church a teaching is better than tongues because it can be understood but he does not deny the gift of tongues which comes in different forms. Tongues can be like a liturgical symbol of the mysterious work of the Holy Spirit. In our left brained west, tongues can help us open to the miraculous ways of the Spirit. Pastoral leadership is needed to oversee the practice of the gifts. Let's not throw out the baby with the dirty bath water. Some get gifts in private prayer before ever going to a meeting so not always mass hysteria.
Thank you for remaining true to the Magisterium. I have attended the Latin Mass for+- 3 years and my life and outlook on life have changed radically, for the better. God bless you and thank you.
Absolutely Fr! Turning back to tradition is the only way to turn this ship around. The Holy Spirit is alive and well in the real and TRADITIONAL Catholic Church. THIS is where you will find the Holy Spirit. FULL STOP.
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the charisms are Tradition. It's part of the normal Christian life. To say that the Holy Spirit and His gifts are "DANGEROUS" in all caps is a very strange thing to say. By whatever 'logic' you are using there, being Catholic is also DANGEROUS because you are dealing with sinful men combined with the supernatural.
Would you like to see Kennedy do a seven part series on the dangers of being Catholic? Would it be just fine with you if he used the same sort of titles and graphics as he used to advertise these hit pieces which you seem to have pleased you? Have you seen the one with "MINDLESS" written across it? Remember the one with "CULT" written on it? That would go great with "DANGERS OF THE CATHOLIC FAITH" as a title, though I prefer, following Kennedy's lead, "THE DARK HISTORY OF THE CATHOLIC FAITH." It's more sensational and preps people to get into a frenzy of hearing and sharing in detraction, lies, slander, libel, etc.
Give us a teaching on the sin of slander, Father.
In the early church , in the days when Sts.Peter and Paul walked the earth people might have spoken in tongues at time. However the apostles could decent if from the Holy Spirit or not.Wr have not done this in the Church since those days, if it was done much at all .Never heard of Lutheran's, Anglicans Presbyterian s or even Methodists doing it.Even the protestant reformers like Martin Luther, John Calvin, and others of that time period would urge caution because it might be by God,.or it could be the devil and witchcraft.
My mom was a cradle Catholic. In the 1970s she was swept up by the Charismatic movement and became a Protestant before I was born. She has a psychiatric disorder since childhood, and the “Holy Spirit” hasn’t stopped “talking” to her incessantly for almost 50 years. I was raised Protestant (Evangelical and then Episcopalian after my parents divorced), and I thank God I married a lapsed Catholic who reverted to the faith at the same time I was converting, and eventually we found the Traditional Latin Mass.
What a journey! Welcome home.
Wow. What a journey!
Praise God that you are a Roman Catholic!! I had a similar journey, am your mom's age, but I stayed Catholic....by God's grace, I love my Lord in the Catholic Church!
So wonderful! ...God bless your mom.
“Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?" The Apostles weren't speaking gibberish.
That was after they received the holy ghost on Pentecost.
It had a purpose! To preach the truth to ppl who spoke different languages. Today is for a sensitive display...it makes you feel something, "makes you feel" that is not God.
I have heard taught that the Apostles were not speaking “in tongues”, but in their own language & dialect. The Holy Spirit gave the people who were disposed the grace to hear the Apostles in their own various languages.
God is Love. When you love someone do you not feel love for them
For God so loved the world that He gave His only son to be crucified for us.
Is God's love for us not real because it can be felt and so must be wrong.
What about Joy. Is joy not something that is felt.
Is not Joy a gift of the Holy Spirit. Are you saying that this gift of the Holy Spirit is also wrong because it can be felt.
God bless, faithful soul. We keep in mind that the enemy counterfeits the gifts of God. We also pray, Lord let me nor be deceived by the enemy of my salvation.
I love Father Murr!
I did to until ......this. Too bad he has a "misunderstanding" of the Charismatic Renewal. Those are still the people attending Mass and the Sacraments.

My Dad lived with the pocket sized Imatation of Christ in his back pocket! Now I have had it since his passing in 1998! Father of 10 children; Well LOVED TRENTON FIRE CAPTAIN! His nickname at his firehouse was; Preacher! Everyone who ever knew him; Loved and Respected him! We prayed the Rosary every evening after dinner; as a Family! Those who pray together; stay together! ❤
Those are gifts of the Holy Spirit way more humble and reliable

@@danieldimond5734 Medjugorie is a diabolical hoax perpetuated by shameless charlatans!
No question.
I agree with Fr Murr. He’s a wise man.
Wise men do their homework!
My parents brought my siblings and I to our first "charismatic" prayer meeting when I was ten. I thought the place was the loony bin. I still know someone stuck in it. She is disturbing on many levels and freaks out when I mention Fr. Ripperger and his talks on this. "NO!!!!!" she yells when I mention his name...almost like I am luring her into the demonic when in reality she has and is playing with the demonic in various aspects of her life. I pray for her healing and understand that her dependency on emotionalism is a major root cause. God bless~
The charismatic movement was overwhelmingly emotional. The Holy Catholic Faith is for thinking people, using the faculty of reason, to pursue faith. Fides et ratio! St. Thomas Aquinas taught the world to apply reason with faith in the pursuit of sanctity. 😊
Yup! JESUS was emotional too! Esp. throwing those money changers out of the temple etc . Faith & Reason is the key to everything for Catholic Charismatics. I returned to my faith and love for Christ, His Church and the Sacraments through the Catholic Charismatic Movement. Praise & thanks be to God.
False dichotomy. There is nothing wrong with human beings having emotions - especially when they experience a touch from God Himself letting them know how much He loves them, what He has saved them from, and what He plans for their eternal destiny! Yes, it can be overwhelming - but in a good way. It beats being overwhelmed by evil, sin, and death. Emotions are part of our make up. You will find that in Aquinas as well.
The Papaya Babble Movement has done much harm to my family; My mother was involved took me and my two sisters when we were in our teens. I thought it was ridiculous and never went back, however, my sister lost the faith and now practices Raki & Tarot cards and the other literally went insane and is on the street who's whereabouts are unknown. It seems totally demonic. So much for the "spirit of Vatican II".
The same thing happened in my family. I thank God that I was repulsed by it. I remember a huge family confrontation with my sister who was trying to draw the family into this cult. I became so angry. I remember kneeling down on the floor and making the sign of the cross and telling her this how Catholics pray. I will never forget that day. I pray for her conversion and for her return to the blessed Sacrament.
I have been personally harmed by spending time with charismatics. If I hadn't broken away, I might have destroyed my life.
I still laugh alone thinkingof the Papaya Papaya Papaya psychodelic show.
I'm Brazillian, by the way. It's even funnier (and sad) when you know the native language of the people involved.
My maternal family is also Charismatic.
There are some phenomenal charismatic priests. Some lay people are ridiculous with it but trashing the great priests who adore the Lord is also ridiculous
If all priests were at the level of father Murr, the Catholic church would be unstoppable in this world. It's probably in God's plans that most priests are far from the level of father Murr.
Thank you for this series Kennedy, its much needed to expose this movement. Love Father Murr! God bless!
Is this hit-piece number 6 or 7? Why do you love listening to liars engage in slander? How much is enough for you?
@@MillionthUsernameYou are not convincing anyone.
@@rosezingleman5007 I will try harder, Rose. What do you recommend?
@MillionthUsername for a start, point out the lies, or mistakes, and give reasons why you believe they are lies or mistakes, and provide evidence, if you can.
@@MillionthUsername i second Bob griffin's recommendation. Some coherent agreements would be vastly superior to "it's all lies and slander, you're all in danger of eternal hellfire." I did ask you for specific examples and evidence in another thread but you didn't provide any, you just told me to read your other comments. But all your other comments just seems to be more of the same "it's all lies and slander, you're all in danger of eternal hellfire."
The Apostles were humble, but the demons in Hell are chaos, incongruence, & bizarre. Charismatics have opened themselves up to oppression & possession
"Charismatics have opened themselves up to oppression & possession"
How?
@@MillionthUsername are you genuinely asking? Or trolling?
For anyone else who bothers to read this in good faith: it is common knowledge that demons (or any angelic beings, actually, so that would include guardian angels) cannot affect the soul proper, but CAN affect the body and it's faculties, including emotional states, the imagination, and the senses. The demons specifically use this influence to manipulate our perception of reality through the senses, or to effect some disordered emotional reaction to certain stimuli, or to bring to mind certain images in the imagination for some nefarious end. The spiritual theologians have always insisted that any sensible consolation (including imaginings, emotions, etc.) that seem to come unprompted should be regarded with suspicion and cast aside. While God CAN work through these faculties, it is much more likely that it is our own fallen flesh or demonic influence that is coming into play. To intentionally open oneself up to so called Charismatic experiences, which all fall under the domain of the body, is to at best be self-deluded and at worst invite demonic meddling.
Edit: a note on guardian angels - while they have the same abilities as the demons, they actually respect us and so do not alter our sense images, imagination, or bodily dispositions without us specifically asking for it AND as long as it is the will of God, which is why it is important to pray to them - there's not a whole lot they can do for us unless we're willing to let them.
@@MillionthUsername by thinking themselves as having spiritual gifts and powers that they don't have. By incredulously chasing prophecy. By determining that their "spiritual gifts" are higher than and more trustworthy than the Church. I've seen this happen and to some extent I've had first hand exposure to it.
What most charismatics don't understand is that they need ten times the formation in their faith than they actually have in order to discern spirits. Assuming that most of what goes on in the charismatic circles is actually of the Holy Spirit, and not human invention, they are still playing with fire. When poorly catechized people start chasing around spirits without discerning them, it's only a matter of time before Satan and his minions appear to them as angels of light. They WILL have these encounters. If you think the average pew sitting charismatic can outwit demons, you are fooling yourself. And if they have allowed pride to weasel its way into their spiritual lives, due to the fact that they have all these new special spiritual gifts, they are in peril. Those demons are going to find that going after those charismatics easier than shooting fish in a barrel.
If you don't notice how, you have a huge spiritual problem.
@@AsturGalicia So you can't answer the question. Why reply then?
I was raised traditional Catholic. At the age of 12, I was invited to a church that spoke in tongues. I’ll never forget how frightened I was! I ran out of there immediately. There’s something creepy about it

Always good to listen to Fr Murr.
Great video...thank you.
I'm from a protestant background ( Baptist) but I'm increasingly drawn to Catholicism.
A few years ago I visited a christian retreat for the day here in Wales where there were a group of women staying....as I was perusing the books on sale these women began screaming outside like banshees. I nearly lept out of my skin. Their 'leader', told them that God couldn't here them...they screamed even louder. The couple in charge of the retreat came to our chapel a couple of times and told us stories of how the Holy Spirit was at work at the retreat centre. I don't know what to think about the experiences of individuals at the place but what heard that day unnerved me.
I’m sorry you were exposed to that awful event. I hope you go and pray in a Traditional Catholic Church, during Holy Mass or quietly between Masses, in sight of the Tabernacle. God loves you.
These retreat centers are making money , stay away from these "retreats" - go to a Catholic center next time.
Hmmm, sounds like Elijah vs. the prophets of Baal, running around screaming.
How can you not just LOVE Fr. Murr?!! He is the BEST! And yes, he is so correct...this movement is DANGEROUS! They throw out completely the 'Reason' from 'Faith and Reason'. A perfect entrance for the enemy of God.
He's not making the proper distinctions, so there's no reason involved here.

Fr. Murr hit it dead on. It is not about being “conservative” or “liberal”. It is about being Catholic. Sometimes one needs to be “conservative”, in other circumstances “liberal” but in all things Catholic.

It's about being reasonable, logical and sane, too.
Having come through the Pentecostal Church I cannot disagree with a single word you say. Thankfully God led me to the Catholic Church 4 yrs ago

The real problem is the lack of guidance of bishops
I left protestantism for the truth, and now this stuff is in the Catholic church. We are in end times
But your in the boat, the true church, Our Lord said it the weeds must grow with the wheat until harvest. Just don’t get wrapped into it.
It's in the Bible not protestant or catholic.
Evil exists everywhere. The Charismatic Movement began in the 6os In Duquesne University and spread from there to Notre Dame, throughout Indiana, Michigan and elsewhere.

i remember I was napping by a lake during the covid lockdowns and some pentecostals awoke me and asked if they could pray over me and heal my injuries, I was in fine physical condition, and I said no, and then they asked if I wanted to talk about Jesus, I said sure what would you like to know? Then they told me that if I can't speak in tongues, it means I don't have grace, and asked if we could pray together for me to be able to speak in tongues, I politely declined. Was all very weird. one was young and one was old but they both wore fedoras.
I’m pretty sure that exorcists will say never let someone who doesn’t have authority (a priest, or a parent over a child) pray “over” you.
They can pray *for* you, but I’m pretty sure they say no laying of hands.
Im a Catholic convert from a theistic form of satanism, so I'm familiar with the demonic. My father was Catholic but my mother is pentecostal. I've long suspected that there was something demonic at the root of her church. Speaking in tongues and prophesies that seem to not make any sense. They're all good people, and I don't question their faith in God, but I believe there is pure evil at the root, deceiving them. Im not familiar with Catholic Charismatics, but they seem to be the exact same thing. I believe it to be a demon of confusion.
Do the demons you are familiar with convert people to Jesus and fill them with joy and peace?
What is the "deception" and "confusion" you have discerned in Catholics based on your experience of Satanism?
So really good and decent people just worship the infernal lord of hell and poor them they just aren't aware? But they are virtuous, decent people??
@@nicolamcostello She's talking about pentecostals being decent people. Sheesh.
@@nicolamcostello This is danger of charismatic mentality- it has prejudice of positivity towards manifestations. All charismatics I met firmly believed they were communicating with God never doubting it. Because they all thought of themselves as good sincere and God loving people. That´s the same in new age. I spent two decades in New Age before converting to catholicism and you can say the same. I never met bad people in new age. They were all super nice, good, decent, kundalini, yoga, buddhism improved their life and relationships, they got out of addictions, got more loving peaceful - this means nothing.
When you worship incorrect God no matter how your life gets you have no salvation. If you worship correct God but incorrectly it will slowly change your mindset and take you away from true God.
Cahrismatic movement will lead you more into protestant mentality, in worse cases syncretism and new age...
There need to be combination of both true God and true worship.
If you notice - you are doing what is the root cause for existence of this moevement. The moment catholics stopped believeing in real presence, turned to human rather than God and made their relationship with God above God - they started to be hungry.
It´s not about us - it´s about God. We are not the center -it doesn´t matter if we consider ourselves decent or not. We need to worship true God it true way.
When I was in new age no matter how decent I felt and how much I loved my false idea of God I had no salvation because it´s not about my emotions. It´s about sacrifice of Jesus.
Now I worship correct God and have salvation. But if I worship incorrectly it will slowly take me in bad places. Into protestant mentality which is distanced from ture God because it fell away from His church.
Or worse into gnosticism and new age. Menatlity is very similar. It´s always about me and God me and Holy spirit me and my gifts me and my fatih.
No. God is everything we are nothing. It´s His worship not our craziness. There are no decent people only sinners. God saves, we are loosing ourselves.
Us being decent is illusion and thinking manifestations are from God because I am in love with myself -no.
I too was haunted by demonic. THe mentality is very similar.
@@terezka5340 the original poster is the one who said the Charismatics he knew were good people whose faith in God he didn't question. If anyone grows in virtue and away from sinful behavior, God's grace is implicitly at work in them even if the person is not worshiping God in the exact right form. Hopefully, they will learn about the right form of worship, which will help them even more. But, the devil does not lead people to get out of addictions, violence, anger, or other vices. God does that, even among non-traditional Catholics.
I attend mass daily, go to confession, pray the rosary and will not split us into 2 groups. We either believe and practice or we look for things to help our unbelief. I am a convert and the charismatic movement has always scared me. Maybe Christ is bringing back the charisms but He is not calling me to it. I heard a priest give his testimony about approaching a young woman in an airport who looked sad and lost. They spoke for awhile and she was suicidal. He talked to her and got her straightened out and where to go for help. In the end it turned out that she did not speak English and that is all the priest spoke. They understood each other perfectly and that to me is speaking in tongues.
Do you have anything to say to Kennedy regarding his continual lies and slander?
Two people who don’t speak each other’s languages still understanding each other, that makes sense being a gift of the Holy Spirit.

A “teacher” in my RCIA classes sang in “tongues” at the end of the session. As a convert, that was disturbing. Even the non catholic group I was in understood that tongues meant foreign languages. If this happens during a mass I’m going to walk out.
Fr Murr, thank you for verifying my initial response to this ‘movement’ when I was a young college student.

Many moons ago, I got inquisitive about the charismatic movement. I went to a few seminars. However, as God would have it, I just turned away. No bad experience, just the Holy Spirit gently guiding me back to the right place as He would continue to do throughout my life. I went from decades of Novus Ordo to one year of head over heels in love with TLM. My faith has grown by leaps and bounds. Have mercy O Lord for we behave as if we don't have a true Shepherd at times! If it wasn't for your grace, who could stand?!
Kennedy, when I first came back to The Church in the mid-nineties (I live in Ottawa), called St. Mary's because it was just down the street from me. The first strange thing was that Father had people approach the sanctuary during The Consecration. Then, after receiving Holy Communion, all of a sudden, people started babbling. I went there twice. After the second time, I figuratively picked up my skirts and fled. I was pointed by someone in the direction of the FSSP Parish and never darkened the door of the charismatic church again. There was something wrong going on there.
They probably didn’t even have good sandwiches 😅
The falling away of the mind sounds a lot like transcendental meditation which is horrific.
Yep. Pagans around here do that using psychedelic mushroom. Same human nature, same buttons, same falling away. Different trigger.
Have you heard of Fr. Thomas Keating. I had friends in the Charismatic Movement who were either reading one of his books or recommending his book to others. I actually read one of his books and felt incredibly uncomfortable with his theology. He is of the leading figures of the movement known as Centering Prayer. Centering Prayer focuses on the emptying out of the mind, which is very foreign to Christianity. And similar to the concept of transcendental meditation.

I realize I’ve come a long way. I was involved in the Charismatic movement in the 80’s when I was in college. When I got bored of the Novas Ordo masses I went to Assembly of God Church for all the sensationalism. I was chasing after an “emotional high” which lead me to ecumenism and New Age practices. I can still “speak in tongues” which is opening my mouth and making a bunch of sounds. It has nothing to do with the Holy Spirit. God gave me the real gift of tongues in a way which is an ability to learn real languages easily. By the grace of God I came back to the church and found tradition and the SSPX. Thank you Kennedy. I just ordered your book on the SSPX and please write the book on the Charismatic Renewal. I’m enjoying your videos about it. It brings back memories.
The gift of tongues is something that you have to receive from the Holy Spirit. Whoever told you that you just make up sounds was not teaching your correctly. There is an anointing, a prompting from the Spirit which helps you and then you speak out as you yield to the Spirit's action in you. You don't pretend to have it if you don't actually have it.
@@OgeronimonominoregO What doesn't make sense here though is the true gift of tongues in Sacred Scripture is INTELLIGIBLE. The modern gift of tongues is NOT INTELLIGIBLE. Herein, lies the issue.

@@Sherlock910 There are different types of gifts of tongues, all of which are intelligible in their own way. I have always thought this Pentecostal movement of talking in tongues was scary and from the devil. Thank you both for reiterating that this stuff is crazy. God bless you both!🙏
Some of it is very dark, of the devil disguised to the participants as light. Other times, it’s mass hysteria, emotionalism, a quick feel-good high that lasts as long as doing drugs. I grew up in the Catholic Charismatic "Community" in Phoenix Az. My parents were "coordinators" of the Phoenix group and went to Duquesne University for the first Charismatic Conference. They knew Kevin and Dorothy Ranaghan (my family is from South Bend, Indiana like them and we had them to our house many times) and all of the founders of the movement. It rose out of the prayer groups around the country. You cannot discuss rationally with them. They are great dancers. I mean they can escape anything you bring up that goes against Pentecostalism. But it's all irrational. I've experienced the gift of tongues and I can assure you it's not gibberish but an encounter with God. The Church teaches that the charisms are part of Scripture and Tradition, so I'm afraid you are fighting a losing battle in setting yourself against God and His Church.
It has occurred to me that this movement has taken millions of Catholics out of the church into heresy
My experience is that si may of faithful parish workers attend the charismatic prayer meeting. Gifts can be couterfit but also authentic. They even thought the apostles had too much to drink. @@paulkiernan3256could you please share why they are against this. It's in the Bible why they want to go against the Bible. It's so confusing. God can work through anyone.
Saint Padre Pio was extremely discreet about his prayerlife. He was overwhelmed with Christ’s life in his. He was also a CONSTANT EXAMPLE OF HUMILITY HARD WORK AND OBEDIENCE.
It has always been taught, by the Bible and by Tradition, that the gift of tongues means being able to communicate the Truth in real languages.
God works primarily through His Sacraments and by holy obedience. Christ was obedient even unto death on the Cross.
The goal of life is to honour God and become holy by His Grace. The rewards are...more Crosses, Holy Peace, and eventually, Heaven. Eternal Joy in Heaven. Not spiritual thrills on earth.
@@praveenkumar-yo1xg You sound like a protestant, are you a protestant?
Thank you so much. I am a cradle Catholic and you have opened my eyes to the charismatic stuff which I never fully understood. Please keep doing more of these Videos. God bless you both!
Love Fr. Murr. Great guest! Thanks.
Always a delight to listen to Fr. Murr!
Thank you Kennedy for this series. Listening to this is my moment of sanity for the day. With all that is being presented to us each day is mind blowing and upsetting. To find someone who presents sound doctrine anymore is a blessing! Again, thank you and bless you and your family!
Sound doctrine? Almost everything he says is a lie. Sanity? This is the most insane series of lies I have ever seen anyone do - and I've been around forever.
What do you think of Kennedy's new doctrine, he says is derived from the Council of Trent, that you can't SAY that God did anything for you?
I attended a confirmation Mass in Ireland yesterday, where the presiding bishop actually said that Jesus, at his baptism, received the gifts of the Holy Spirit which He needed to begin his public ministry". I couldn't believe what I was hearing. As a lay Catholic I recognised it as heretical nonsense.
Maynooth produced that anti-Catholic "bishop".
My mother went to a charismatic meeting once. Those who didnt speak in tongues were told to close their eyes and imagine the spirit in front of them. While her eyes were closed she said she clearly saw an old very ugly and hideous woman staring back at her. She left and never went back.
This series is eye-opening. And necessary.
Yes, I never knew it was possible for a 'Catholic' to be so vile and to pack so many lies into so few hours.
Pray in Latin if you want to be full of the Holy Spirit.
We can fall into these errors in any language, if we seek spiritual thrills rather than seeking God’s Will and His Cross.
What? Satan hates Latin. It's not a parlor trick. @@granmabern5283
Satan hates Latin which is the official language of the Church.
I don't want to be full of the pretended Holy Spirit, that's capital sin of Pride, I as a Catholic wish to be able to carry the Cross that God gives me to purify my soul. And to be able to serve God every day as He wishes, without thinking of myself. And one day, when I kneel in front of Him, I hope I can say truly to Him. "My God and Father, please forgive me, I tried".
What?????? Sorry, No.
Love both of you!
May God Bless you!
Kennedy you should talk to Ralph Martin about the charismatic movement He was a big figure in all of this
I reject this movement no matter who supports it.
I agree. I have a very high respect for Ralph Martin so would love to hear his take on Kennedy’s opinion of CCR. I was involved for many, many years and have been very blessed by that involvement. However I now attend the TLM (FSSP). For many of us who lived through Vatican II, CCR kept us in the Church at a time when we were bereft of our beloved Catholic Church. CCR consoled us and educated us in Scripture and spontaneous prayer, praise and worship, for which I’m sincerely grateful. But it was being Catholic to the core that kept me away from all the “flakey” stuff. Kennedy, please get Ralph Martin on sometime!
@@M5guitar1I'm certainly leary and on reserve of Charismatic groups in the Church, but I 100% agree with the original commenter's suggestion - especially if Kennedy is going to write a book he would be very wise to seek someone like Ralph Martin's perspective. I've never known Ralph Martin to teach anything heretical - in fact I believe he was a great combatant against heresies & novelties many years ago & I've seen him rightfully vocal against the similar problems of antipope Bergoglio. Although I'm not really a follower of Ralph Martin - I respect him and think it would be good for Kennedy's efforts to connect with him. And if need be - challenge Ralph. I'm confident he would be humble enough to accept constructive criticism AND that Kennedy might learn something. All for the good of Holy Mother Church.
“For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God……” (Acts 5:38-39). There are far greater challenges our sad old world faces today than criticizing our fellows. Jesus called us to “love one another”. And so, let’s unite, build up, encourage…… love.
In the past Ralph Martin seemed to be in league with Patty Mansfield on EWTN. I was interested, and actually went to a Life in the Spirit seminar in Kalamazoo, MI. It was exactly as Fr. Murr described, babbling and being “slain in the Spirit” (a kind of fainting and falling backward-they had men there to catch you).
All of those people who go to the PROTESTANT ENTERTAINERS on TV is So Terrifying! And the PEOPLE SHAKE and squirm all over the floor! Don't they understand that mocking the Holy Spirit is an unforgiving SIN! You are So RIGHT FATHER!!
Looooooove father Murr. Most fascinating priest, man, American, writer ever
Love his book…..
Thankyou for this informative session! I never knew that Protestants & Pentecostals etc were involved with the Charismatic RC's. This is because I never got involved with it at all. I recall a few nuns suggesting I join it thinking I would like it. Never! I dont pray like that at all & agree about the hysteria being dangerous. This was desperation after Vat11. No Pachamama & no Papaya for me! Lord, show me Thy Face & I shall be saved🙏🐑🕊
I went to a charismatic prayer grouo in the 1970s because I was invited by a priest to participate. I went through the life in the spirit series and was "baptized in the spirit." We thought we were praising God during our prayer time and that the holy Spirit was speaking through us. During the prayer meeting, one person would stand up and speak a message that he/she was hearing from the Lord. The messages were usually a message of love and encouragement, not anything specific telling people what to do exactly. Unfortunately that was during a difficult time in my life and I was living in sin, but other than Mass once a month at the prayer meetings, we didn't have the sacraments. There were priests there, but I dont remember going to confession. I later went to another prayer meeting (Catholic), and we were mostly about praise and worship, although we did occasionally pray over people for healing if they asked us to. There was good fellowship and a feeling of belonging, but I didn't learn much about my Faith. We were encouraged to love God, worship God, and do His Will, although it was a little subjective as to what God's Will was... kinda left up to the individual to descern. It wasn't until I read St Therese story of a soul that I started to better understand what living a life of holiness was
I stayed for one meeting of the “life in the spirit” seminar, left my booklet at the door on the way out and never returned. Not my thing. I don’t like papaya. 😊
"It's not about papaya and other such tropical fruits"
Love it! 😄😆🤣😅😁
On a serious note. I am back to my Catholic roots, while I was away for many years, I got the gift of the holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. I was being attacked by a man, that was going to rape me! I started speaking in tongues, and he ran away and left me alone. God gave me true power of the holy Spirit, and came to my aid.
No, that man thought you were diabolically possessed, and ran away. I would too.
Oh great, thanks for sharing this, at least now I know this can put into good use when bad things happen!! ❤
I’d run away also if I heard you speaking “in tongues”. Hard to be comfortable around someone sounding mentally ill or maniacal.
Ok people now it seems like your doubting what God can do at any given time. You don't have to believe just don't mock God!
I am with you! It might not be for you but be careful not to mock. You have to be a little child. My parents were very involved in the renewal. They are saintly. You are very closed to the Holy Spirit. Shame. I find many priests today dont believe in power of God. So sad.
Oh my dear goodness! Thank you for this!

Thank you very much, Kennedy and Father Murr, for the teachings and reflections. You are in my prayers.
Greetings from Brazil.
As a child I visited a pentecostal church with a friend I was spending the night with. I remember being led down to the alter, and people were saying all kinds of strange things around me, touching my head, almost pushing me down to the ground in a kneeling position. I was kind of scared, kind of curious, and kind of wanted to laugh. I asked my friend afterwards why I wasn't able to speak like them since everybody there was speaking that way, and I'll never forget her answer. She said, "Just make something up, that's what I do." I sometimes wonder where she ended up spiritually.
Fr Charles Murr is a humble Catholic Priest! Love Fr Murr! A quote from Fr Murr “put your complete faith in God, and in Him alone. God is the only One Who never disappoints. Human beings, on the contrary, almost always do.”
A Traditional priest from Africa went to a charismatic service in Detroit to see what it was. He left immediately. He said those people are speaking gibberish. It was perfect Swahili and it was nothing but one blasphemy after another. Yes inspired by a sprit, just the wrong one!
Oops not speaking gibberish, just blasphemy.
You have given me great peace, i always felt outside this movement i was invited to gatherings a couple of times and something from my reason and spirit revolted against this nonesense , i felt guilty you set me free! Thank you
No one can be set free through lies, only through the truth. What was said in this video is not truth but lies. They are mocking God and trying very hard to get others to mock Him too.
I’m loving these videos Kennedy. Long overdue for someone to speak up about this farce.
next I hope he covers Medjugorje
He isn't speaking up about any farce. He's lying and slandering continually. The lies occur second by second in my reckoning. What about fairness, justice, love? What are you 'loving' about this demonic display of filth?
@@eileens4943 I hope so too. I imagine he'll go even more overboard in lies and slander, though I'm starting to think that's not possible as he has reached some sort of metaphysical limit.

Father Murr excellent speaker and his experience of the priesthood amazing.
I wish my parents would of heard this when they were still alive!
Kennedy, EXCELLENT session with Fr. Murr! I am fascinated with this subject since I have older friends in my prayer group who believe they can pray in tongues. They speak about some magnificent seminar they attended with priests to experience Charismatic worship where amazing miracles occurred. Apparently, this is how they got the ability to speak in tongues which when they do it, it sounds worse than baby talk and literally demonic! They do not do it often unless it’s for a healing so as to lay hands on the sick member of our group as if they have the power to heal. Just because priests attended this seminar, they believe it is truth. That’s so demonic. After watching this episode, I don’t feel that I can even pray with these people anymore or take them seriously! Thank you so much for confirming my suspicions that Charismatic speaking in tongues is not of God!🙏🏻♥️
"Thank you so much for confirming my suspicions that Charismatic speaking in tongues is not of God!"
Kennedy has no authority in the Church. And he is a serial liar and slanderer, so I wouldn't trust him if I were you. He is one of the worst examples of a fake Catholic I have ever seen. Just a day or two ago he invented a new 'Catholic' doctrine where he says you're not allowed to say that the Lord did something for you. To justify this, he mangled a text from the Council of Trent on justification, which doesn't apply to what he was trying to say was a "teaching of the Church."
He tries to bully and shame people into lying about others and degrading them while also mocking the Holy Spirit. Wake up.
Praying in tongues is not demonic. It's a gift of the Holy Spirit.
Healing is also a gift of the Spirit, and it is not a sin to pray for healing. No one in the Renewal is claiming that they can heal people of their own power. Rather, they are praying for the Lord to heal people.
The “Catholic” charismatic movement has been around since the sixties. It conforms greatly with Latin American temperament and because so it has flourished there.
It was 1993. Attended a Charismatic retreat at the request of my friends. Never spoke in “tongues “. This kept me out of “the loop”. A lady there said , “Just say jajajalalala”. SHE WAS GOING TO TEACH the HOLY SPIRIT how to give me the gift of tongues. After laughing, I left. Lost friends of 20 years! Heretical! Nuts!
I’m glad I listened to this all the way to the end!❤
I have clowns in my family who take part in this silliness. When I ask them what exactly it is that they're "saying", they always come back with:
"We just speak the tongue, we don't understand it" ...sigh.
Whenever they try to justify it during any conversation that comes up, they just end up looking sillier than 2 minutes ago. Pathetic.
Around the 35 minute mark in this video, they explain “ the falling away of the mind”. Like drug addicts, that is the effect they are seeking.
I would forbid them to do that, if they don't stop... ask them to leave.... they are dangerous to others .... especially the VULNERABLE...young children will get taken with them...
@@fritula6200 OH, I would never! We've had discussions and ultimately it's their business. Who am I to forbid anyone from anything. It's just amusing that they don't recognize the silliness of their actions.
St.Paul was happy that he spoke in tongues more so than anyone else in his time, I wonder if he's been surpassed by many these days.
23 So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and inquirers or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?
27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two-or at the most three-should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God. (1 Cor. 14: 23, 27-28).

Charismatics are taking over many parishes, very concerning….
Much of the information Both of you shared I was unaware of .Thank you for your important teaching
I remember the old paper version of Crisis Magazine back in the 1980s talking about Medjugorje. My late mom’s father was a Pentecostal preacher and so she was deeply suspicious about the apparitions. Everything that Crisis reported about the place confirmed that it was actually a business venture of the “seers” in partnership with the Charismatics. The disobedience in that place is shocking.
I’ve heard it described as Fatima for the poorly catechized. It’s designed to fleece believers and convince them that “gifts of the Spirit” can be had with ease.
The Catholic mystics had sometimes decades of aridity in prayer. That’s the norm not the exception.
The Way of the Cross is slow, arduous and quiet.
You misunderstand Medjugorje. It's that simple.
@@Dienekes678No, I’ve seen people’s lives destroyed by it.
I would urge you to read Donal Foley’s books about it. I’ve read that and many other things about it for over forty years.
Patrick Coffin has spoken about the place as well as E. Michael Jones and many others. Its “messages” are contrary to Catholic doctrine and to Scripture as well. Do not tell me about the “fruits” of it because the devil will gladly provide some fruit if it means he can get even one soul. It takes people away from Fatima, Lourdes, Akita and La Sallette.
It’s a cult and I know this because like this argument about Charismatics, you people will argue it to death.
Really. I urge you to read about Medjugorje. A friend of mine destroyed her family to keep going there. She lost everything including her mind.
@@rosezingleman5007 I've been there 3 times. I've seen the fruits of it. If you think Satan would convince millions of people to grow in faith through the Rosary, confession and adoration...well, I just don't believe that.
On my last trip there, I met a man in our group who was just recovering from a 12 day drinking spree. His family begged him to go, as a last resort. He went to confession whilst there, possibly his first in 20+ years. He also went to mass each Sunday when he returned to Ireland. Sadly, he passed away about 3 months after returning home. That one visit may well have saved his soul. God rest him.
Don't make the pilgrims who visit Medjugorje out to be some kind of simpletons. We are not. We are well able to discern for ourselves.
Even if the apparitions are bogus (and I don't believe so) then tje Blessed Virgin Mary and God has had the last laugh, turning an evil into a tremendous good.
God bless.
There “may” of been fruits, just like in many parishes around the globe. With Christ’s sacraments much grace and fruit can occur. But nothing divine has occurred, as have been said by four bishops, in particular the local ordinary which has authority over this matter. The lack of obedience at Medjugorje was outrageous. Read Michael Davies book on Medjugorje which documented all that happened and didn’t happen there. Be careful. Why not embrace known authentic church approved apparitions like Lourdes, Fatima, Akita.
@@buckan8r999 I appreciate your concern. I go to Knock, Ireland quite regularly.
I think it's fair to say that clergy fall into two groups, these days. One of these groups we are told are on the road to perdition by the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Bishops who denounce Medjugorje...who knows what group these belong to?
Thousands of very Holy priests go to Medjugorje every year. They spend 4+ hours (many of them) in sweltering confessional booths. Do the Medjugorje nay-sayers really think they know better than these priests?
Have you listened to Fr.Leons testimony?
God bless. (And I do genuinely appreciate your concern)
Very important commentary, and always enjoy listening to Fr. Murr. Some very solid, common-sense, great Catholic advice at the end. I need to read more for sure. God bless.
You are much loved Father Murr, from round the world:
Glad to hear this from Fr. Murr, a solid faithful priest. I have friends involved in the Catholic Charismatic movement; good, decent people. I don't judge their hearts. But I cannot understand the praying in tongues. They've tried explaining to me that it's not supposed to be intelligible, and that it's a gift. But why would the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding - speak nonsense? In the early days of my reversion to the faith, I skirted the environs of this movement and often times felt envious that I wasn't so "gifted" to be "included." Now, firmly ensconced in the faith and TLM, I'm GRATEFUL. Thanks for the posts you've done on this topic, Kennedy.
These videos are absolutely horrible. They are just chock full of accusations, mockery, even blasphemy. If Fr. Murr is a "faithful priest," how does he not know the Bible or the Catechism regarding the charisms???
Thank you for this information it is so necessary I am a intersessor and Jesus put this on my soul thank you for conferring this for me

It was so unfair Kennedy that I didn’t receive the gift! 😅 Love Father Murr!
I grew up in Pittsburgh in the pre-Vatican II era. I was a serious child and devoted to the Latin Mass which i attended almost daily. I became a teenager as the early confusions began to manifest. As they said then - I 'lost my faith.' Actually my Faith had abandoned me.
I wasn't aware then that Duquesne U had become a liberal bastion.
What little i heard about the 'charismatic' movement back then, repulsed me. The undisciplined emotionalism seemed demonic to my young mind - and still does.
Spent most of my life outside the Church - and of course I would never have gone to any Protestant church.
Now in my mid-'70s I'm trying to find solid ground within the Church.
Very sorry to see that clip of Boniface Hicks. He's a Benedictine from St. Vincent's Abbey near Pittsburgh.
I thought he was better than that.
The Church is built. Jesus instituted His Church on Peter, then we had the pillars of the Church. In these last days the Church has already been built, maybe the only thing left is to keep our faith. The Mass is The Mass is The Mass whether it's in Latin or any other language and it is not up to us to change it.
@suzannederringer1607 Try the Byzantine Catholic Church. There are many in the Pittsburgh area. They are doctrinally and liturgically conservative, but they worship using the ancient Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Byzantines are under the authority of the Pope and are fully united to the Catholic Church.
Why should the gifts of the Spirit and being filled with the Spirit repulse you? That's very concerning.
What do you mean by undisciplined emotionalism? This is not taught by anyone. Sounds like you have fallen victim to people who don't know what they are talking about and/or have some sort of strange ax to grind in spreading lies about the charismatic renewal.
Thank You for all you do for us. God Bless you and yours. Ave Maria
Great video. As an inquirer into the church, I can’t believe this is an actual thing!!!! Even as a Protestant, the thought this was nuts. But in the church?
The Church is charismatic by nature. The Holy Spirit was poured out onto the Apostles on Pentecost according to the promise of Jesus.
Paul teaches on the gifts of the Spirit in 1 Cor and elsewhere.
The Church has always acknowledged the charisms.
Yeah I converted in ‘94 and found out this was a thing in the Church only recently
@@MillionthUsername Put your forked tongue back in your mouth. The Charismatic movement has nothing to do with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. What charismatics do is a sick, twisted ape of the true gifts of the Holy Spirit, which work entirely differently. In fact, both in Scripture and in the official teaching on discernment of spirits, babbling idiotically like this is automatically a sign of the devil. He mockingly parodies the true gift of tongues, where the language is always understood by both the speaker and the listener. If the person isn't speaking a real language, it's the devil. If they are speaking a real language but nobody understands it, it's the devil.
The protestant revolution didn’t happen overnight. It’s still corrupting and destroying souls and families. In Britain, the clear division of the new cult from the Catholic Faith took decades. This video is addressing one cause of the smog of war... meanwhile, the True Faith is alive in God’s One, Holy Catholic Church. Shining at the Tridentine Mass.
The Holy Catholic Church has ALWAYS taught that the charism of tongues means the Holy Spirit helping someone to communicate the Truth in a real language, or between several people of different languages.
The psychotic babbling is an addiction, like magic mushrooms. Not a charism.
I turned my sound off when you played that babble again. Once was more than enough in your other video.
