Thanks, but I think it's more complicated. The greek anthem represents only the greek cypriot community in the south following a unilateral decision in 1966. The greek anthem doesn't represent the turkish cypriot community in the north. The constitution of 1960 sets a bicommunal framework, whereby both communities could celebrate their respective national holidays, flags, etc. A different national anthem had been composed for the entire island although it never became official by the time the two communities split up in 1963/64.
In 1966 the Hymn to Liberty became the oficial national anthem of the Republic of Cyprus by law. The council of the ministers proposed it to the parliament and eventually it was voted by the parliament as the oficial national anthem.
