President Biden departs with new VH-92 as Marine One, supported by V-22 Ospreys, after 9/11 events

- President Biden departs New York City aboard the new military helicopter being used as Marine One - the VH92 Patriot. Several other military helicopters accompanied the presidential transport while police boats and law enforcement maintained security in the East River.
The new Sikorsky VH-92A Patriot recently went into service with the US Marine Corps as the anticipated replacement for the ageing VH-3D Sea King and VH-60 White Hawk used by US Presidents for several decades. Marine Corps aircraft only assume the call-sign 'Marine One' when the Commander in Chief is on-board.
Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) are responsible for operating the presidential fleet of helicopters that are also used by the vice president and other VIPs. The squadron also operate the MV-22 Osprey, of which several are seen in this video transporting security, staff and press. These typically operate under the call-sign 'Night Hawk'.
President Joe Biden attended the 9/11 Memorial Service at Ground Zero along with Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump and running-mate J.D. Vance. The President and Vice President then departed New York City for Shankesville, PA for the Flight 93 memorial service before attending the final event at The Pentagon in Virginia.

Actually Marines use waterless hand cleaner on glossy finishes.
It removes black stack gas that builds up on the Fuselage and the oil in it makes them shine.

My Mom grew up near the Sikorsky plant watched some of the first helicopters fly and at 95 still loves talking about flying
I’m glad that the secret service and NYPD aren’t taking any chances. Btw, NYPD and LAPD are two department whom are equipped to handle government VIPs, especially the president. They have the capacity and capability to secure the president if it ever comes down to it.
I was visiting Arlington with my grown son and a few Osprey flew over. It gave us chills.
I know the Ospreys get allot of hate for their record but you can't deny they look awesome in flight.

This is true even for the VC-25 (747s) which is undeniably one of the most reliable aircraft ever built. Aircraft serving in the presidential transport squadrons receive a whole different level of care vs the rest of the military.

The Osprey is a death trap. Dozens of Marines have died riding that thing.
Hundreds died during the early years of the Blackhawk only difference is now every v-22 crash is publicized because of international news and social media. From 1981 to 1987, five Black Hawks crashed (killing or injuring all on board).
Heli crashes are countless...rotor lift always much less safe than fixed wings..
Blackhawk does missions that the v22 cannot. It's safety record is due to flying in difficult situations. The v22 is a hanger queen that only flies cherry picked training exercises.

My friends and family mentioned he visited there about a week ago. I was there when Reagan had his Western Whitehouse on top of Refugio Rd. i used to ride my motorcycle over the mountain to the beach until he became Prez., then they blocked it off.
I see hear and see Ospreys a few days a week here where I live in Western Arizona. They go from 29 Palms Military base to Luke Airforce base and back. There are pretty neat to see and are very loud

It is crazy how much of an operation it is, the security guys and the gear they take on board as well. And the craft are massive. I wonder what the environment is like inside - how much sound damping, can you have a conversation without a headset, etc.

Those tilt rotors are NOT Ospreys, they are the new replacement Bell V280 Valor. Unlike the Osprey, the wings are fixed, only the engines rotate.

The V22 is not approved for presidential transport, president is on the S92's. (VH-92)
The concept has always been ridiculous. It takes an amazing amount of processing power to compensate for that transition from forward speed and airflow over wing lift and rotor based flight. There's always a point where the wings are at or below stall speeds while the rotors may not yet provide enough lift.
Ospreys are such a safe choice....

There’s only one Marine One: the one the President rides in (the other V-92 helicopter is Marine Two, for the Vice President.). The two tilt rotor Ospreys (the ones that landed first) are for WH support staff and the WH press corps

I think Biden left the NY ceremonies so he could get to another 9/11/2001 memorial service. The one where the plane crashed, in Pennsylvania. It’s explained in the last few minutes of the video.
