I purchased a complete 2nd hand set of seats for £190 from an e bay seller in Cambridge.
I didn't need the other seats , just the drivers seat , so i left him the other seats to sell on e bay.

Disconnect the battery first before disconnecting the seat airbags or you might get an on screen error code / airbag light!

Jonathan, your T30/40 HEX bolt is in actual fact a T30/40 Torx head bolt, not an Allen hex head bolt. Sorry to be pedantic, as well!!! 🤩😉👍

Oh I do enjoy a good tear down video, cheers Jonathan, I just love to know whats inside stuff and how it works. Your curiousity was as great as my own, such fun. Can't make out what that airbag was all about, can you? They lost their NCAP rating because they took out side impact airbags to save money when all along theres a seemingly pointless airbag lurking in the seat...defies logic!

Thanks mate, exactly the same issue on my 70 plate GT line.
Previous owner did a smart repair that hid the issue! 3 weeks into my ownership it’s starting to crack!
I will look for a seat and if not bite the bullet and order a new one. It’s the only bad bit on the car and it bothers me haha!
Btw just fitted an anti glare anti fingerprint screen protector on my dash tablet today I highly recommend!

Given that the foam on the high mileage seat was sagging, the second hand replacement seat is a quick and easy solution. 😎
eBay is ideal for tracing a specific part. I have used eBay to find replacement body panels in matching colour too.
no airbag, it gives contact if you sit in the seat.
Heating is between the cover and the foam, if it is installed

An airbag in the base of the seat? 🤔Thats news to me! 😮 That seat looks like it came from the pre- facelift model with the head/thorax airbag label on the headrest, because of the lack of curtain airbags in the Zoe. It wouldn't be for the side airbags in the seat would it?🤔 But why would it be in the seat base & not in the side of the seat? Strange!
9:45 no, elements are between foam and leatherette.

Ill dig a little deeper into the foam and report back !

@willeastman1463 yes , we set off the side airbag , but couldn't get the base to 'blow up' , video soon on me messing with airbags 🤣🤣
Did you strip down the back of the seat to see if that had a heating matrix fitted, iv been reading around the place and some people are suggesting all later Zoe's did have heated seats fitted.
That seems insane theres an air bag under the thigh area. How would that work?

That's not an airbag, that's an ejector bag.

I do wonder why the seat cover is so expensive. For my money you could have sold that damaged seat on for a few quid. The damaged part could have been split carefully with a stanley knife and replacement foam packed in to firm it up. You could then use a sticky repair patch to rejoin the cover from underneath. I'm pretty sure there's a kind of spray on flexible faux leather that you could use to cover over the cracked look of the material. No, it wouldn't be perfect. But for anyone looking for a really cheap replacement seat who wasn't fussy about it being pristine it would have done the job. That could have knocked fifty quid off your expenses. But, on the other hand, you got to show us the innards of a Zoe seat and how hard it would be to actually put a new cover on one yourself.
And what the hell is an airbag doing under the seat? Is it to reduce the likelihood of a broken pelvis in an accident? Bizarre! That's a new one on me. Hold on a tick. Let me look it up. OH. So that's what it is. It's just an adjustable inflatable airbag that increases posterior comfort when you're driving. So you've discovered another hidden bonus of the Zoe. What a remarkably well made thing it is. Renault certainly know what they're doing.
Hi Trevor, no its definitely NOT adjustable, its has the explosive under the seat to inflate the airbag ...
Previous owner did this to mine, 3 weeks later massive cracks are appearing 😢
