      crazy mate,I told the customer and she was fine with it and told me she had a spare key etc and was joking,the one that would have got damaged would be the other type of customer with no spare key and needs to get to London everyday and now it’s my fault she is loosing her job,house and husband 😂😂

    I test drive nothing - furthest I drive a vehicle is from the yard into the workshop - if I can get the customer to do that, I do. Customer can test drive it. They'll soon shout about any faults. I prefer when the customer drives it out of the workshop too. I have ZERO desire to drive your car/van/truck at all - it's just asking for problems. I seldom if possible even sit into their vehicle. I'm covered in crap from fixing mechanicals, I don't want to sit into your nice clean car.
    I've seen the disasters unfold from test-driving customers vehicles - let's not. Your vehicle is going back to you with the identical mileage on it that it came in with. 1 out of 20 that throws up a fault only a test drive would show up - I re-fix them & can live with that stat. Once it's fixed & parked out in the yard, I ain't driving it 1mm further - customer can do that when they collect, it's theirs. I much prefer & usually manage to get the customer to drive it out of the workshop, not me - that's ideal IMO. You driving their vehicle is a recipe for grief. Avoid. Keeping track of keys is a nightmare always - we have 1 spot they all get chucked into - it's in there, somewhere. Hopefully.

    all this new tech on a vehicle to diagnosis engine and other problems ,seems to be the ones having a problem , i like the times where you can switch on your engine and have the ear to know that the engine is fine when it is purring .

    we have a mondeo for similar issue to the focus but ecu has no damage and needs loom stripping out hoping they wanna spend more time on it to confirm my find but were see

      @@rmsdiagnostics yeah its nice when you find fault and can put it rite, hate goin thru the effforts then cant carrry on, some customers just have that mind set of had enuf of the car or dont wanna spend on it again unfortunatly. satisfying when job done tho from my end of it
