I can't believe the man that gave Magtheridon 5 stars allowed himself to be cyberbullied into not rating Saurfang highly.
So he didn't drastically reduce the rating of Unholy package because of the "almost disastrous 40 cards aggro triple Unholy".
Good to know 😤
you'd think he'd realise 40 cards in aggro was a bad thing lol
he did emphasize that 30 card deck is probably the way to go
crazy conspiracy, he keeps turning aggro packages into 40 card midrange decks because he knows more people will comment about it and drive up engagement
@@willowhealy453 That's stupid because winning videos drive more views than losing ones
@@Xanthopathy are you sure about that?
Ohhhhh we’ve been waiting! We appreciate your hard work.
You should do Trump reviews trump reviews again. Its good to see how the cards ended up being. If just for record to see how good cards were back during their first expansion.
Finally!!! the best and only set review i need is here!
ah yes, Path of Arfus
Meowfurrion has better lore.
HazelBARK goodbye
I know it’s more editing, but I like it a lot more when you go through the card ratings one by one (I mean visually) and then talk about the rating of the whole archetype at the end
WAIT, patchwerk only costs 7?! They shoulda made it at least cost 8. I’m scared of that turn 10 Brann Patchwerk
I am sure this card will get nerfed first. It smells toxic from miles away.
This was my exact thought when I saw 7 lol, 6 cards removed from play, Theo is stupid broken and even Theo only does 2 cards max(outside of shenanigans) and opponent is forced to trade
@@tvs5941 Not as much as that 7 mana frost card that freeze your enemy, and deals 5 damage and summons a 5 mana 5/5.
I'm with you sir. I think Deathbringer Saurfang is a legitimately great card!
In the world with Rush minions all over game, you recive charge damage from them instead of none. Maybe when rush had cost something it whould work, or before rush was made.
Not to mention only minion spells, that Will damage your face when they usually can't.
Does Saurfang keep handbuffs between summons? If he does, I could see him being extremely strong if they push blood's handbuff package in the future.
@@NavyPheonix He does not - any time a card moves "upstream", i.e. from your hand to your deck, from play to your hand or your deck, or from the graveyard to anywhere, it loses any alterations.
I still like him, but the downside Trump is omitting is that while he does provide a free taunt if your opponent is using minions to remove him, he turns removal spells into face damage. Shadow Word: Pain becomes Mind Blast. AOE spells that would ordinarily only hit minions effectively hit face as well while he's in play. It's not nothing.
But since you don't have to play him, you can choose to drop him when the enemy has used all his removal.
Garguantan has me thinking about MTG's Knight of Dusk Shadow and sighing (1B 2/2 creature with that effect, you can spend mana to buff it for a turn, AND has to be blocked by 2 creatures.)
Sighing because you want the card to be good? Knight of Dusk's Shadow is isn't a good card by any means
Soul Stealer is a Twisting Nether+Plagued Grain+5/5 and therefore worth around 14 Mana. Its by far the best card of the expansion (from a stand alone pov, not considering that it can only be played in one deck).
I know this is unlikely to spread to other classes, but I kinda really like the idea of having to dedicate your deck to 'talents' the same way you would dedicate your WoW build
This expansion feels like Blizzard testing the waters for something like that. I also doubt it'll look just like DK, the sheer tonnage of new cards would end up working against them. However, when Fractured in Alterac Valley rotates next year, WoW-style hero power specializations doesn't sound too out of the question.
I like it so that powerful cards can be made but not be constricted by the card pool or constrict card design.
I dislike that all decks are basically pre-built now; there is so little room for experimentation in today's Hearthstone.
@@SpeakerTerenus I feel the exact same
This could be like, easily added by adding powerful cards with "If your deck has/started with at least 10 frost /arcane/pirate/elemental cards, blank"
really stupid example: shadowfury shadow spell cost ~4 - if your deck has/started with at least 10 shadow cards, deal 8 damage to all enemy minions"
another really dumb example:
Boomkin Frenzy arcane spell cost 2 if you have summoned at least 4 treants(or maybe cast 4 nature spells? idk), for the rest of the game your treants have +2 +2"
It could be really flexible, and I think it'd add great flavour :>
I think unholy has a lot of great ways of spending corpses and not necessarily enough to generate them ultimately resulting to be too slow/bad at least as a controll deck.
Everyone rates marowgar super high but you kind of want a lot of corpses for him, even then he can just get board cleared and you probably can't afford him if you're spending corpses in other ways
Yeah Marrowogar's corpse requirement can be thought of as a 2-3 "card" combo and it's potentially an easy clear. Warlock's likely gonna be shunted in a more control direction so we'll see Twisting Nether again most likely, plus Blood Death Knight's board clear on a stick.
That being said, other classes might have more trouble so it's hard to say if Marrowgar'll be BAD or just not as good as people think.
Unholy seems like worse token druid to me.
You're forgetting sire denathrius exists. The unholy package is going to inflate daddy d meanwhile this card powerfully adds 7 infuse to him if it somehow gets board cleared.
Marrowgar is just a weaker kelthuzad. Idk why people think marrow is even close to good when kt barely see play and has more burst and strong board presenxe
I agree Marrowgar presents a difficult choice between spending corpses for midgame pressure or saving for a more impactful Marrowgar board, but I think that's mostly a problem with Marrowgar and not unholy's lack of corpse generation. Triple unholy doesn't have enough corpse-spending triple rune bombs to make it worthwhile imo; it makes splashing another rune like blood for a boneguard commander a more appealing offer than triple unholy as-is. I don't think if you're playing unholy as a control deck you want grave strength anyway.
11:00 Marrow manipulator doesn't feel that good to me. Maybe 4 star at best. 6 mana 5/5 is a bit steep and 3 frost rune DK doesn't have great corpse generation.
I'm glad you rated acolyte of death 2 stars though. I seem to remember you talking it up during the reveal. But it's just like a cult master with better stats and only works on undead?
I don't understand this comparison. Cult Master at 3 with better stats would see play.
A Trump video with Trump? Hell yeah thats what i am talking about
where is youre zombie animated wallpaper from?
I really question the 4 stars in Marrowgar, he's meant to be a finished but it feels like he doesn't do much for the set up, reminds me of Hir'eek
@Nick Kiggers yeah exactly, If they had more cards like grain specifically meant for corpse generation I could possibly see marrowgar being not bad, but even then you basically have to win on the turn you play marrowgar cause all your corpses and corpse generators are gone
@Nick Kiggers having played with it a bit now im finding on average im getting a few 10/10s
My New FAVOURITE HS class...
Nom nom. Can't wait to pulverize with blood DK.
Value!
Honestly not too sure about Unholy's best decks being 3U. The 3 rune cards are good but I don't think they're better than adding 1 Frost or Blood.
Is there a corpse counter for other classes or just deathnight? in the case you steal a card from their class
I believe other classes cannot use corpse effects at all and they don't have a corpse counter.
you can't get corpse cards with other classes
You can get corpse cards but you cant activate the effects that require them since only DK can generate corpses
However, of note, things that randomly generate cards from other classes and similar can't generate corpse reliant cards, so burgle Rogues aren't going to end up generating a bunch of dead cards from their effects.
@@novaglacial9779 wrong
Frostwyrm's Fury call that Penultimate Infrostation.
Saurfang effectively gives enemy rush minions charge if you think about it.
I said it from the start, surely all this does is kill you faster? Against decks based around spells it's a dead card, and against minions you're just dealing 3 damage to them which could be done with basically any other card. I hated that trump said this was gonna be an OP card I just really don't understand it's value. From my point of view it's entirely detrimental.
using a weapon gives all enemy minions charge if you think about it
@@Defnotdiablonot gonna argue too hard on it, but its purpose is as a grindstone, with triple blood you have a lot of ways to heal and you have some things that clear the board but a lot of those are slow, saurfang is always gonna be zero mana and will stop early aggro while you stall and heal up to your endgame threats, i dont know if its actually as good as trump thinks but like its purpose in the deck is fairly understandable, its always at least going equal for the health you have when you play it and it only gets more and more disruptive to tempo and midrange decks as it gets replayed, plus it allows you to have a proactive thing to replay over and over, you can play it so that you lose health and then heal up with the lifesteal fireball or blood boil, against decks with spells its defo worse, but its still just a way to grind down the opponent alongside denathrius and that card that does 3 damage to ur opponent every turn for the game, i think trumps overvalueing a value card which certainly would never ever happen, but like it makes sense with the archetype we just dont know if its needed for the archetype yet but if the metas fast rushy minion decks it has a lot of utility
not to mention he is a one card potentially ridicilous way of getting a few corpses which are hard to come by in blood dk
Have you considered that forcing enemy minions to trade is good
Corrupted Ashbringer should be 0 Stars simply for being a bloody Common.
not convinced at all that you would play 3green over 2green 1blue. you get SO many incredible tools from adding blue.
One Blood is pretty good too since you can grab Patchwerk for clears and Boneguard Commander to use some excess corpses.
I think people are really sleeping on frostmorne
I think renathal has made trump go insane... He thinks 40 health is the baseline for any deck now while unholy is clearly an aggro deck
Tbf feno and hunterace built unholy as a renathal sire deck and they kinda good at the game
Because Renathal is just that good, 9 of 10 decks use Renathal.
There is no side effect from him and even rewards you for using the card with the 10 health when it could be just a option to play 40 cards and not a standard.
It's become a meme to me that every single deck he builds has to be 40 card. Consistency be damned
@@novaglacial9779 No side effect except having to play a 40 card deck, which utterly destroys your consistency compared to 30 cards.
I have no idea why you think 9/10 decks use Renathal.
@@NoName-mi8js Renathal shouldn't give you 10 health, that is the problem. Yeah you have 40 cards but that doesn't matter if you can survive longer than normal. Just look at the meta the only class that dont play Renarhal is Imp Warlock and Aggro Druid, any other deck uses Renathal because they dont care about consistency.
Brann+Patchwerk is going to be so busted.
Oh yeah
*Value* me like one of your -french girls- expansion ratings
But Trump, what about rainbow death knight?
I think that, because of Brann, Patchwerk has to be nerfed at some point to 8 Mana
Brann needs to just go away period. He defines every single battlecry minion.
@@grit1 design: 1 star! Severely limits design space
Cannot disagree on that. Brann enables so much options for any deck. And even though I love playing one particular combo ( Keleseth murloc in 40 card deck to give them all +2/+2, wherever they are sometimes for mere 3 mana ). He is simply too strong
Brann will leave core during rotation it's fine
Noxious cadaver being at 3 hurts my soul
I fear there will be a card printed in the future that will allow DKs to spread their blood boil to other enemy minions.
Blood gang rise up!
Boy am I glad they finally brought a top tier freeze deck to Hearthstone, hadn't seen one of those in like two whole games
Acolyte of death 2 stars is just meh, I think 2 unholy 1 frost will be great
I'm pretty sure blood dk wants to play The jailor (instead of Alexandros?), thanks to its good life steal cards (and maybe reno) and it's lack of good finishers. The extra HP could also help to survive the 10 mana do nothing turn.
Unholy 3 rune cards are really bad. Best unholy deck is most likely the 2 unholy 1 frost.
Beyond sad that Blizzard confirmed that each expansion moving forward will only release cards for 1 rune which is horrible do to some sets being in longer then others. Sucks whatever rune gets picked for the December set
I think it was more on the terms of "not necessarily all three", but I could be remembering wrong. I'd rather they focus on one rune per expansion though rather than give only a couple cards per rune.
@@DezRexy Yea its an official tweet that each expansion will only focus on one rune. It has its flaws and benefits but imagine you love unholy and they don't get anything til the third expansion which is also the shortish one in the standard life cycle
@@LuisGonzalez-nd2bq Mini sets will likely play a role in that, but do remember that runeless cards are available and will likely be abundant for the other runes to use. Perhaps runeless cards that act based on the rune setup in your deck, for example. There's plenty of possibilities for how they could go about this so I think it's best to just not think too much about it for now and see what they do with it.
The scourge is an awful card competitively but god it looks so much fun to play
Very glad Trump stopped calling cards ‘corpse lovers’
Can’t believe trump is sleeping on blood dk
10:16 Lol, Death Knight tier one
Now that Warrior sucks I can at least play Control Warrior with Blood Death Knight
Please Trump, do you if it is possible to get cards from Path of arthas somehow for free?
Use gold
Imagine hunter had Bone Breaker
Blood is going to make every other control deck obsolete
Infinite value priest go brrrrrr
I guess you haven't see the new priest deck which is going to be the best deck until nerfed pretty heavily
if all these blood cards are so good that youre rating them 4 star and would be happy to have 2 of all of them, why are you running reno?
controll games easy go to fatigue.
Do you need more?
Usually that is a pretty fair concern, but I'll grant Trump this indulgence as the Blood deck seems to want games to go really long, and work up gargantuan life pools, so you may survive to use your Reno, and when he finally comes down his effect is going to be big. It's not as bad of an idea as it has been with some of his other deck designs.
@@thaddeusgenhelm8979 i mean the problem is other control decks actually have ways to kill you and reno is probably actually worse against aggro because the blood dk cards you're not running 2 of are things like blood boil and corpse explosion which save you life. like vs druid they just play enough big things and you run out of removal and die and it doesnt matter that you have 200 health.
Let it be said that I've never thought Trump to be a great deck builder. I give him a lot of credit in his star ratings, but he doesn't seem to understand the fine tunings of a good deck. Renethal was the worst thing to happen to Trump lmao
@@Alter292 What you mean is that he is more willing to experiment than fine-tune. I mean, he isn't going to be a better deck builder than HSreplay or whatever meta-deck websites there are.
trump is 100% right about saurfang. it does literally the exact same thing as mograine. i dont know how anyone can rate that card higher, it's exactly the same effect only one costs 5 mana and the other costs 7
People overvalues health.
I feel like people tend to ignore that Saurfang will often end up on board that would have been cleared anyway. Best case, an aggro decks needs to sacrifice half their board every turn to kill Saurfang. Average case, you spend 5 health to protect 5 health and deal 3 damage to one minion. Pretty frequently, though, you'll end up paying 5 health just to lose Saurfang to a board clear that would have happened anyway, so all it does is damage you and accomplish nothing.
That's not really a great argument though because a good player will know when they should/shouldn't commit him to the board
@@irium_pls the whole benefit of the card is that you get to play him for "free" every turn. If you run a 5-mana 3/5 taunt and then end up in a situation where you shouldn't play the payoff, he's still a really bad card.
@@BeefinOut the benchmark for a card shouldnt be whether it is unconditionally good 100% of the time
@@irium_pls sure, but I have trouble imagining a world where Saurfang is good even half the time. He's slow when you play him, he's low-impact in a lot of matchups, he gets removed easily or even for free much of the time, etc. There are much better value generators for Blood Death Knight.
@@BeefinOut that much is true, his only upside is the flexibility that comes with playing him for free, which is contrary to what you initially said
12:25 kekw
Blightfang 5 stars
"Plagued grain, which is a wonderful turn 1 play." Yeah, because unholy wants to start with a 1 mana do nothing instead of getting stuff on board early.
I really don't get the directiion that they've gone with the runes, if you put all the big payoff at 3 runes then once you've included 2 of a rune in your deck you're obligated to take the third. Unholy is the exception with a weaker payoff on 3 and some solid midrange cards at 2 runes.
They either need to spread the payoff between the rune levels a bit more or have mixed rune cards if they want to see a bit more rune variety. As it stands it seems half the rune combos will never be used.
@Nick Kiggers That would explain a lot of it, frostwyrm's fury could have been intended as a 2 rune card for example, but then 2 frost 1 blood would be ridiculous
Trump: "These Blood cards will probably see little play because there's so much removal here."
Meanwhile Trump in Frost: "When you freeze the enemy minions they can't interact. Genius!"
Do I really need to explain this?
He seems strangely enamored with the idea of Frost Nova at 7 mana. It's good at a low cost because it buys time for your later stage removal that costs more (flamestrike is seven for instance). By the time you're at seven mana your opponent shouldn't have a wide board anymore, frost has so many minion control cards.
I feel like frostmourne is rated too low
I'm suspicious of the Lady Deathwhisper rating. It's just so incredibly slow. First you play a 4 mana 4/3, then it needs to die, and then you need to play the first copy of the frost spells, and only after all that does it actually do anything for you since you now have a second copy. It's awful vs aggro, it's a terrible topdeck if you're low on cards in your hand, and it could even cause bad play if you try to save your frost spells to get copied rather than playing them when they're useful. It does evil things with Frostwyrm's Fury but Frostwyrm's Fury magnifies existing board state, so maybe if you had a real play on turn 4 you wouldn't need more of them.
Frostwyrm's Fury doesn't magnifies existing board state. It invalidates it, so what happens on turn 4 doesn't matter.
@@NoName-mi8js It invalidates their board, it magnifies yours. See Trump’s video playing as frost dk. If you have any power on the board already when you cast the spell and your opponent doesn’t have fast answers, all of that power will get to hit them twice on top of the direct damage and the summoned dragon.
#TrumpReviewsTrumpsReview
it's crazy how different in power the three sides are lol. What were the devs thinking
The card I like least in the set is Alexandros Mograine it's not a bad card, maybe it isn't even a very good card but I hate the design of it. Being put on a countdown just sucks your're forced to play aggressively and depending on your strategy you maybe dead.
Although I suspect that the best death knight deck is going to be a mixture of runes. I personally think two blood one frost will be pretty strong.
respect for the fact that he tried unholy, knew it was god awful, and still didn't change the ratings. never a more trustworthy card rater.
What do you mean? He rated it at tier 2... Also, small sample size but he had a pretty good win rate in his preview gameplay video even though he built the deck completely wrong.
Blood Rune looks so fun. I'm looking forward to playing it. Patchwork is going to be a menace, and my guess is will be nerfed.
uwu
remember release day demon hunter? this will make it mid by comparison
Personally I'd put Scourge higher card is legit Old Yogg level of rng and turns the game into a coin flip
Consistency is an important part of it I think, but I absolutely love The Scourge and will be making a deck for it effective immediately.
I think frost is waaaay overrated. I think it maybe as good as blood maybe even weaker.
First! BOOM!
10:18
In this video i learned that 15+10+5 is 45 for some reason
He was also including the 5*3 damage from the spell itself, so in total (5*3) spell damage + (5*3) first dragon attacking over 3 turns + (5*2) second dragon attacking over 2 turns + (5*1) third dragon attacking once = 15+15+10+5 = 45 damage, albeit with the hefty assumption that freezing their board every turn means they can't deal with 5/5 minions at all. Not too sure how much that applies, feel like most decks can have an answer (their own freeze, rush minions, substantial taunts, etc), but that's his logic there.
@@LBFVolthawk ok then i get it, was thinking you would use the 5 damage on the board but i guess you can just go face if you plan on perpetually freezing the board.
Hot take - Blood Boil is trash and won't see play
Frostwyrm Fury is no doubt going to 8, 9, possibly even 10 mana. What a broken POS
"These cards are so good you should run 2 of them!"
Well no ****, who was going to Reno Blood DK?
But also, these cards are so good you shouldn't diminish your deck with 10 extra cards doing something stupid like forcing Renethal, again.
No point to get so aggressive. It‘s just a card game and he wanted a meme deck with high health.
Plenty of people will run a reno Blood DK.
And you should play Renathal, because it gives 10 extra hp, and this is a control deck.
your card reviews are kind of not super accurate
