What an amazing video series. You are such an inspiration, especially to me! I’m ex NAVY so first and for-most “Thank you for your service”! The PCT has been on my bucket list for many years. While I have accomplished many things in my life, I feel like I’m missing something. I turn 50 yrs old in two years and have started planning my journey. I feel doing the PCT will full-fill what I’m missing. Watching you has given me so much encouragement. I have watched many PCT videos and yours has just touched me in a way I can’t explain. Thank you so much for taking time to vlog your journey and as always “IT"S A GREAT DAY”!

Congratulations, Mike! For anyone who is physically able, your videos are a master class in how to plan, prepare, and execute a thru hike. Those who aren't physically able to do it in a single year, can also learn what they need. Very, very impressive hike and amazing videos. My wife and followed them all the way.

Loved your Vlogs and the music choices. Daily waited for updates. Followed you since the beginning preps, the disappointment of delay, and the enthusiasm for starting in Campo. You, an 'old man' are in inspiration for everyone else who considers themselves 'old'. Your summary was a great windup of an epic journey. Can relate to the feeling of Finally It Is Over, and NOT wanting it to be done...and why not just keep walking north through Canada, if it were allowed. Time to begin planning your next journey, after all..."IT'S A GREAT DAY"! Thank you for sharing.

Congratulations Energizer! Glad I got to spend a little time with you on the trail. Totally agree with your comments about the “false narrative” from certain organizations (I’ll say it for you, the PCTA). If they really cared about the trail and the trail towns they would get out there and talk to the town people that support and our supported by the hikers! I felt nothing but support from all the trail towns - many were struggling financially because of all the restrictions this year. They were so happy to see a few of us hikers this year!!!

Congrats on your thru-hike. I'd been dreaming of doing the PCT since my first reading of it back in the late 70's in a National Geographic book I bought. I never could plan for the hike over the years, but have been inspired from your videos and reading of others in our older age group that have succeeded in the hike. I'll be 70 next year and realize I won't be able to fulfill that dream, but did succeed in completing probably one of the easier sections (White Pass-Chinook Pass). Met a lot of thru hikers on that section, both SOBO and NOBO, and quite a few were very much aware of your videos and were also cheering you on. Once again congratulations on completing the hike!

Great job "Old Man" (I don't know your name). Your attitude and towards everyday being a good one (even when it sucked) was admiring. I don't think some PCT hikers realize how much of an impact that has on enjoying and finishing a thru-hike. This year, there are a few who complain about their hike in every video. Anyways great job, you're a role model hiker. CONGRATS, THANK YOU!

Thanks so much for hosting the vlog of your trek! UA-cam started me with vlog 19 and I caught up with the earlier posts in the in-between-post days. What a fantastic journey! I was thrilled to see again the small sections of trail that I have visited. I have some especially good memories of the Stehekin bakery and dinner at that ranch. (No video of Lake Chelan from Stehekin, tho?) And it was great to see the 2500 or so miles that I haven't seen in person.
Your choice of music, Gordon L and JT, was the best!!
I don't know if 'Old Man' really applies at a mere 57, but that's a minor quibble. But the Hemmingway riff works!
It seems, I think, there was only one day of dangerous weather?
Great job, great trip! And thanks for 'It's a great day'!

For a thru-hiker, I am considered old. With the name, I tried to create an incongruity by saying one thing and demonstrating another. I think most older thru-hikers on the trail do the same in their actions.

It's a great day! A job well done. Your hike deserves respect. You have accomplished the various goals you set for yourself. The vlogs were priceless. A big thanks for sharing the hike with us. It showed me the hike is not within my current ability due to a knee issue and maybe my 75 years, even though I have kept telling myself that, maybe, I should still attempt a thru hike. My question: did you meet anyone on the PCT who did it with after a knee replacement?
May you have many more "Great Days" after the PCT.

What’s so special about today? We get to see Mike finish his PCT hike!! Mike - I follow a lot of hikers, and watch a lot of hiking videos. Your PCT hike is the most impressive display of hiking that I’ve seen. It was obvious after the very first video from the trail that your mentality was completely focused on hiking. Hiking and laying down miles was always the #1 priority. That is how you managed to get through Washington before the snow started falling. That is how you finished the PCT in 117 days - an extremely impressive number at any age, but even more so at your age. Well done sir!! One question. When you weren’t carrying a bear canister, how did you store your food at night?? It’s a great day!!!

I just kept it with me in my tent. I hung my food only once and that was when I spent the night in the cabin, which was known to have mice issues. The key was camping each night in a spot not very popular, so the local bears and rodents were not habituated.

Congratulations, Mike!! Great to see you hit that Terminus! I did finally get up to Rainy Pass today with some TM, but I knew a couple weeks ago that dealing with 'life', was going to prevent me from being up there when you passed thru. Met 'Solo-tude' today and he mentioned that he had talked with you. Think he's the same age as you, but he only put up a half dozen vids at the start. Had to go 'off-trail' for a month with an ankle injury on Mather Pass and some family issues, so now he's doing SOBO back to Ashland...... wildfires permitting. You REALLY did hit a great 'window' to plow thru you're trek!! But we did meet 5-6 other PCTers at Rainy.... may try to get up to Harts Pass next week to help haul them out to 'civilization'! Take care, and thanks for posting your adventure for us to share! Skagit Ed
