Funny to see some of the comments here, it's doesn't matter if it's an 'entry level' or if it's even mis-compared to the higher end models of Korg or Yamaha. It's how you use it and the end result that matters. Heck I've got a few friends that have all the latest and greatest workstations to make 'beats', when another one of my friends still uses the classic Triton and is making amazing music out of it...just a single Triton and great sampling techniques.
I am liking what I see with the FA series and am considering replacing my 10 year old and well used Fantom X6
I agree with you Ronnie, I have about every keyboard from Casio to Kronos and I'm now convinced this is the Real deal and just what I need. My only complaint is that 5" LCD and the fact that most keyboards, except the Korg Pa4x don't have an LCD out to connect it to an external monitor. Why do they have all this stupidly good technology and slap a ridiculous 5" inch screen on it with all that space on top? ALL keyboards should boast an Industry standard viewing area screen of no less than 7"x10" screen. I mean, what is the extra cost? $5.00 ?

I wanted to ask two things ...
the sub output is used to send clicks / assignable?
to the pads, you can assign chords played on the keyboard such as on Korg M3/Oasys?
I am SO happy with my FA-08. I love the quality of sounds. However the drawbar control requires a bit of menu digging. Plus I need more keys (in addition to 88) for synthing/organ. I love building studio sets, but it requires sacrificing key space to make way for other sounds. I require the FA's whole keybed for whatever my main sound is at that time. My idea is to have Piano(or whatever my main sound is at the time) on the FA's 88 Keybed, layered with whatever pad/string/other sound I deem fit. Then I want to midi out organ and synth (lead or pad or whatever) to the A800 Pro. My questions: 1) Can this be done? 2) Can I assign drawbar control of FA to A800 pro for organ? Can I assign realtime effects to A800 pro for whatever sounds I midi to controller? Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Wait a minute Arnold.. if you can plug a mic or a guitar in the back, can't you just plug another piano? I mean, sound input is sound input, right? What you think?
My only disappointment is that you can't sample your own instruments to be played across the keys, only in the sample banks. Other than that, there are enough great sounds available on it already. Been thinking of purchasing this for quite sometime.
This is definitely a Korg Krome and Yamaha MOXF killer. :)
While it's a nice board, I don't think it's a MOXF killer. Definitely will compete, but not kill.
looneyburgmusic I didn't think so either, but you know what? The Krome and the MOXF don't let you sample like that if I'm not mistaken. You have to upgrade to the Kronos and Motif respectively. So, at least this has an edge over them when it comes to that. Plus, I like that this one is the only one in this price range that lets you export multitrack stems instead of just midi. I'm pretty sure the Krome and MOXF can't do that either. And, with those supernatural sounds, I'm starting to think this may be the better option as far as what you get for the money.
I will tell you one thing....you get the MOXF or ther KROME,,,you will eventually want the Roland FA,,,,if you get the Roland FA,,,,you won't be yearning for a MOXF or a KROME....

I think this is going to drive up the sales of the Fantom X, G, and Integra 7. The FA-06 is affordable, but a step backwards in functionality compared to the three synths mentioned.
You got it all wrong.The FA-series is an entry-level workstation,hence the affordability of it...as it is a low budget keyboard.
What you are comparing the FA-series to,are high dollar,flagship keyboards & a module,which is a utterly irrelevant.
The FA series,is the most high functioning,professional-grade low budget workstation ever developed,so how is it lacking in functionality and how is it two steps backwards?
Think about it...what other entry level workstation out there,has 2.0 SD flash memory with an 8 second boot time,double the amount of presets with many of them being pro-level patches,sound expansion abilities,multiple WAV export options,a moderately large-high rez full color GUI,full sampler,DAW control,an audio interface and audio inputs...all in one package?
Why are there so many people like you,who can't differentiate between flagship & entry level keyboards?
Philo Beddoe The question is... Will they actually release a full blown Fantom again? Or, is this really it? No one seems to be letting us know anything. But, you're right - this looks like the better option over the Krome and the MOXF to me. It just has way more features than they do.

Philo Beddoe Entry-level??? Affordable??? Lol. No, not at all. Do you guys not realize how much the FA-06 and 08 is, and how many sounds they have??? I don't think you do. $1,200/$1,800 is a lot of money. With the economy we have today, most people can't afford most of the workstations on the market, unless they save up their money over a certain period of time, and it'll stay that way for a loooooong time. Hell, maybe even for life.

In case you haven't noticed,Roland has NEVER made such a workstation at this price point.You think the FA-06 is expensive??
The Fantom G 61-key was $3,000 had no SuperNatural sounds within the factory sound set and if you wanted an ARX card,that was an additional $449 for EACH ARX card!
The Fantom G8 was $4,300 when it came out,whereas the FA-08 is only $1800 and in fact,the FA-series is the most inexpensive synth workstation to have full midi sequencing & flagship sounds,that Roland has ever created...so in essence,the FA-series is the direct result of the economic recession.
Yeah...something like the Korg Kross,is a workstation and it is labeled a "pro" keyboard...but take a look at it's specs & listen to the presets and you will discover that the Kross is nothing more than a Casio by comparison and a consumer grade keyboard,in contrast to the Roland FA-series.
Who are you,man?A guitarist?A drummer?Because you have no clue what you are talking about.If your idea of entry level is under a $1,000...then go buy a Casio WK-7600 or a Korg Kross 61.
Do YOU realize that the FA-series has over 2,000 presets from their flagship Integra 7 sound module and that you can download more presets from Roland's Axial website??

This Keyboard looks great and I am seeking a Workstation purchase. I saw the video but I have
Questions
1) If I used stored samples on my SD card on a song session, will the samples I used disappeared if I remove it from the key board or are the samples recorded and saved on the track without need for the sd card data?
2) Whats the max amount of samples that I can load on this unit? How much data can it hold?
3) Can I create synths on this unit by using my own sample library? Can I save my created synths and pull them up when I want?
4) Could I pitch an wav file from my SD card across the kets individually? For instance: If I had a one shot harp, could it pitch across the keys? And If so, Could I save that Sample as well as my settings then rename it and pull it up later without the need of the original sample on my sd card?
Any help Would be great before I make my Pre Order purchase. If you know of another keyboard that can do what Ive asked above, what keyboard would that be?

Могу ли я с помощью фейдеров изменять громкость одного из них? (в разделе Sound Modify есть режим Assign, либо ручкой Level)

Great keyboard!! I've seen 3 of this guy's videos. He knows the FA inside and out, but he's terrible at explaining it. Look to Ed Diaz to learn about the FA series
Does anyone happen to know if you load a sample (say a song intro ripped from a CD), can it at all be "mapped/assigned" (don't know how else to say it) to specific keys on the keyboard, or can they only be assigned to the pads? I have a Korg Triton LE w/sampler unit and though limited to the 64mb of sampling memory, I like how you can assign samples to certain keys, and then I play them back using StudioLogic MIDI pedals so I can play bass at the same time. Any info would be truly appreciated...thank you!

roland Axial website has the synth legend libraries for classic sounds, available for integra7 which is compatible plus you can EDIT you're own just as a dash of time+talent. in addition this synth has the JV5080 synth engine so it's defo possible for D50 emulations

You called it a "synth". The title of the video characterizes it as a "Music Workstation". Whatever the case my be, I played the FA-08 at Sam Ash, and it's quite nice.

You really think that this keyboard retires the Fantom? I mean, take a look at the Fantom G and then take a look at this! Plastik, smaller screen, unknown user patch memory, no aftertouch, no sliders, no mouse support, no editor, no audiotracks, 16 miditracks only, certainly a worse keybed, you know it from the weight compared to the fantom, no multisampling. This is a low end workstation. The price says it. This is not a replacement for the Fantom G.
petara45 You all realize that this is the 6th generation Fantom right? The first fantom was called the FA-76. Then came the S, Xa, X, G and now the FA-06
DaSoulChild It doesn't matter which version of Fantom it is in the line. It's a budget model. It's the same what the Xa was compared to the X. I already named all the things that the Fa misses compared to the "previous generation" Fantom G. Once the Fa hits the stores I guess it will be even more clear when people get their hands on this instrument and realize the cheap construction and light keybed. Nothing wrong with that, but as I said, this is not a competitive product to a Kronos or a Motif XF.
petara45 Something tells me that this product wasn't aimed at the Motif XF. I see this aimed at the MOXF or Krome. The JP80/Integra7 are aimed squarely at top of the line boards.
DaSoulChild You're right. My first answer was to the post of keytar00. This is not aimed against the Kronos/Motif XF. Unfortunately neither is the JP80 with some horrible file structure solutions or the Integra with its silly just 64 user rewritable studiosets. That's certainly not enough for live players. Roland makes fantastic sounds. But the features on their product are created by brain dead idiots. 15 years ago you could load single patches/performances. Then comes an idiot and removes that feature from all the Fantoms and the Jupiter. Just to add a horrible sound import function back on the Jupiter.
