But being a church musician (black gospel) and being able to layer up to 16 sounds is NUUUUTTZZZ!!!! i could really layer bass, piano, ep, brass, strings, and organ and dial em in n out as needed with no effort vs a motif.....only 4 layered sounds n u have to hit 20 buttons to swap one out
Kevin Lawrence The only thing is, layering 16 sounds together will surely steal polyphony from each voice. Assuming this keyboard has 128 note polyphony (the standard for most 88 key "good" keyboards), that would only allow 8 notes at a time per voice, which will cause cutting out if you play "pianistically" with a sustain. I play motif and I get cutting out with just 4 voices. Nord solved this by actually using different sound modules in their boards
Nice demonstration by Adrian Marsi, I had questions about the sequencer part of the FA-08 but watching this has answered them. The one he did for the Jupiter-80 was pretty cool also. And that looks like Ed Diaz behind him. So there you have it, two smokin' keyboard players on the same stage showing a totally sikk keyboard
WARNING! Save Song does not save all edits or changes made during production or mastering. For every song or edited version of that song your need to save a new studio set and 16 new patches for every song save because the Fa does not save this information as part of the song. Also this means you can NEVER edit any patches or studio sets that are part of any saved song. If you do edit any patches or studio sets you previous saved songs will never be the same when you load them so all you work is lost.

I'm absolutely amazed by the fact that after 10 days since this keyboard was announced, we still don't know the number of user rewritable studiosets. May not be important for studio musicians, but for live players it's essential. 2000 tones means absolutely nothing to me if this keyboard ends up with some silly eighties 64 user slots.
Looks like its easier to get around with the controls then on a new Kronos 88 and much cheaper price aswell. With things changing so fast I don't like to put lots of money into a system anymore. There is a new one coming out next year all the time:) Then I can sell and upgrade lots easier.
Great demo! I wanted to ask two things ... the sub output is used to send clicks / assignable? to the pads, you can assign chords played on the keyboard such as on Korg M3/Oasys?
"bringing your idea to the computer" - if Roland was serious about this - why not include a way to cable transfer the file to the computer - instead of using silly / clumsy / awkwardly-accessible SD card format - in the REAR of the keyboard.....
Good keyboard, with promised expendability. Roland seems good with this. There wasn't much actual technical info mentioned, but I know they have everything on their website. Combined workflow with computer is there. Now, for the stuff that's missing but still wished for. I'd love to see a hybrid synthesis sound creation. I have FantomG and because of that I still create samples. Let's copy Korg's 9 engine synthesis versatility idea, and make our own. Since we are talking about "workstations" (we are, right?) why are we still stuck in dogged 16 track sequencer land? Pairing with computer is light years ahead of that already in comparison. Doesn't matter if you are professional or an underground music creator... when you buy "workstation" keyboard, you want it to behave as precisely that. Save midi compatibility for additional peripherals, but give me more control with the main beast... more tracks.
I've watched this a 100 times...at 9:40 does anyone know what sound he is using. Since I own an FA-08 I notice that only one sound in this studio set is turned on (at least that we can see) it looks like it says "0058 Strings Temp" but the camera is to blurry to make out even in HD. What magic trick is this where Timpani can be set to trigger based off key velocity and is in the same patch at strings that ALSO has brass in it as well. What am I missing???

Is it possible to use the FANTOM X6 in the same way of this FA-06? in terms of export each track that easy to a DAW (Ableton Live for example), edit the song and then getting back the final version to the FANTOM X6 for live performance>>>??
The build quality is on par with the Krome & MOX and it's in the same price range,so what do you think? Although the FA-series does have some features that can be found in a flagship keyboard,such features are in place to effectively compete and even surpass the competition...but since when has any company made a flagship workstation for a budget price?Such a thing does not exist. Perhaps Roland does not have any plans to make a flagship workstation and the FA-series may very well be the best Roland will have to offer in terms of workstations...but by no means,is the FA-series at the flagship level(the price tags are a good indication of this). If Roland does decide to make a full-on flagship version,it will be incredible and most certainly have a lot more to offer(such as a bigger screen,all 6,000 sounds from the Integra-7 module,a multi-track audio recorder,a 76 key model..etc.,.).
with today's computers technology its all about the sound. Why not to keep V-Synth GT, XT, JD-990, XV-5080 and more powerful Fantom X. It makes more possibilites
I bought this workstation 2 days ago, it's a very very cool instrument, it's my first synth and i like it a lot. But I have a problem I can't solve with the sampler. When i compose a track the Sampler turns itself off, and when i finished composing and i have saved my song it doesn't work if i want to play. someone knows something and can help me? :)

I don't own this keyboard, but I do own the Roland FP-80 which uses the same SuperNatural sound engine, and I can tell you from experience it is absolutely amazing. Everything from sympathetic resonance, damper resonance, hammer noise, key-off resonance, cabinet resonance, etc... can be tunned to your liking. Personally I love it and totally recommend it.
While the Keyboard is connected to the Computer via USB... WHY cant i access the recorded/sampled wave files right through USB ?!?!??!? Or can i ?! They always mention the SD Card..but that is like swaping floppy-disks and so 90s .
can you bring in a sample and make it into a new sound ? i kinda dont care how many sounds it comes with and if you can tweak those , i wanna be able to make my own sounds with files i choose to start with .. like my voice , or i sample any new keyboard
The Fantom-X series was your Best Series.. I bought the G8/G7.. and you guys ruined it.. the FA is even worse.. :smh: I love the X7/X8.. but hate everything after it.. the newer ones just suck; you really should put the Arpeggio Editor and Rhythm Editor Back in it too.. that was a holy grail for the creative process..
Who is responsible for DAW integration? Keyboard development or DAW creators? One thing I can't stand is all the daws and keyboards with such integration always say 'more will be added later' but never do. Sadly I use Studio One pro v2 and they never update anything for new or even old equipment and my eyes are always looking at these boards that have the ability to be used as a controller, yet even a years later after saying 'more to come', never add any... To me it seems a done deal before released and/or sponsored rather than what people want but I hope to be wrong.
Dont be fooled everyone. The FA06 board feels & sounds so generically made. I wasn't impressed at all by any of the sounds. I can't say for the 08 tho...I bought mine & took it back to guitar center with in 2 days. I ended up slapping $ down for a G8. Now thats a real board
The key bed & buttons feel just as cheap & generic as all of these cheap ass usb midi keyboards coming out now days. The keys on the 06 are way smaller than my keys on the 61 triton extreme. Don't waste your $

DAW control is the standard these days...but yeah,no 76 key version is terrible.What's really cool though,is the FA's multiple WAV export options.

A Quarter Inch thats what you need and an amp and you will be fine. Most professional keyboards don’t have speakers you need to buy them separately
Don't even need an amp if you get powered monitors. Just do a search for powered studio monitors, they are basically speakers with built in amp.
U know u have a showman demostrator when a knob is turned with elbow and shoulder movements instead of a thumb and an index finger

How is the sympathetic resonance on the piano sounds on this model? Is it as good as the Nord pianos? Is it tweakable?

The FA's. THe Junos are just romplers (playing samples) but the FA's of course cost more.
