Man,, very precise!!,,, detail orientated,,i used to build sheds during the summer for a company in highschool,,it taught me basic carpentry,,from the floor to the last roof cap,,,but now at 50,, i need some refresher courses!! Lol...im thinling about building my own little house,,or get a log cabin kit...i appreciate the time you take to teach people like me !! ...im sure it takes alot of your time!!!..
Best Guy ever for DIY stuff, looking at building my own Garage here next couple of weeks or so unfortunately its a 60*40*14 though so probably going to be pricy. Has Definitely helped me a little.
Thanks I really appreciate that! Sounds like you are going to build a really nice size garage. Even though the size is different the idea is still relatively the same. Good luck with your project!
Having your Dad work with you is great ! Seems like he is about my age and I am working everyday as a contractor Josh. I am a Finish Carpenter and really like it! I can schedule a lot of work or a little work! Keeps me in great shape ! ( not to many FAT Carpenters running around) Point being I tell young guys ( I own my home, Work Van/ Truck ect.,.) don’t get caught up in “ oh I am retiring at 45,50, 62 whatever the silliness is ? Instead switch? Slow down? But keep a cash flow going ! It makes life easier and when something happens you hv a trade? Your young ! Beat it up brother! Build us a spec home or large shed us contractors need & use! All great stuff and your a great teacher!
It is great to have Dad around on all of the jobsites! He can out work me most days. I remember him always saying when I was younger to just keep going in that’s what I intend to do! I agree with your philosophy about continuing the workflow. It seems to be very important for the mind and body to keep moving. I am thankful to have great viewers like you commenting on my videos. I appreciate it! Tune into the next video!
That is so cool! I made this video series to help guide any body with carpentry skills to build a garage. It is a lot of work, but very rewarding to build your own structure. Thanks for watching!
It's so rewarding when you see things come together. Knee bracing is even a wonderful look if not needed but just for a nice look. The plates are also a nice added look for the outdoor look. Great job Josh. 🔨🔨👍🏻
Seeing everything come together is the highlight of building structures for me as well. The bruising definitely gives it a cosmetic. Look of strength and stability. Using 6 x 6 post makes it look much more rustic. I like that as well. Thanks a lot for watching David. Good to see your comment and I hope all is well!
12:05 I am curious why you didn't use the hypothenuse of the square to mark the 45 degree angle. That is hold the square flush with the work and scribe using the other side. That's how I've always done it. Is there some advantage with accuracy to measure the angle the way you showed?
Great video as always Josh ! Watched all of it and learned a lot. Just an off-topic question: can we use porcelain floor tiles on the walls as well in the bathroom ? (I could not find a reliable answer elsewhere, some are saying use it some are saying don't use it since they are heavy so I turned to you) It would be great if you answered.
i am enjoying your videos but i am finding it hard to follow each part as they go. these are not numbers as part 1 and part 2 and so on. i seen the part were you stand up the outside walls but cant find the part were you put the truses up.
When you built the indoor bathroom wall. Why didn't you put a sill plate barrier down? Just like you did when you built the outside wall on the foundation. Not worried about the bathroom wall rotting?
This channel and video series needs more attention. One of the best I've found
id change nothing about how you do things. been in the trades for 20 years, amazing
I feel so Lazy when I watch this series. Great Job!

OMG! I liked this so much, I hammer the like button and busted my iPad.
You’re welcome! Thanks for hammering the like button, but don’t hit it that hard! Thanks for stopping by!

Great channel! Is there a video that shows how you framed the garage after stamping the concrete?
Thanks I appreciate that! Yes, here is the video ua-cam.com/video/ufvcMq8aJTw/v-deo.html I hope that helps!
Very nice!
I appreciate that!
Good Good man

Man love your clean work love how you explain everything in such detail.. we're you work out of? Would love to hire you I'm in Kansas...
How big was this garage? Your video giving me inspiration to build my own looking at 24x26
awsome video. but how did you tie in the LVL beams for the pavillion/outdoor kitchen to the posts at the ends? did you just toe nail it to the posts?
I attached the post to the beam using the Simpson strong tie outdoor accent brackets. You will see me do that in this video. I hope that helps!
Good job 10100/😂
Do you have a video for framing the walls and placing the trusses? I don't see it in the playlist.

I don't have any wood or construction experience. But i really want have that experience. Do you think i can do it? I'm 38 years old.

did you design the garage and your home yourself or did you get a design architect to do so? I not you just made up what you wanted?
I designed the building myself and had an engineer approved the headers and beams in the building. I hope that helps!
You must have some high winds there. That thing is built like a fortress.
Why didn’t you fabricate the trusses yourself?
When you built the indoor bathroom wall. Why didn't you put a sill plate barrier down? Just like you did when you built the outside wall on the foundation. Not worried about the bathroom wall rotting?
