Petco is quite possibly the most wonderful gentle soul I’ve ever seen. He is just a genuinely nice person and I could watch him and listen to him for hours. ❤️
One of my favorite things about Dark Den videos is seeing the creatively made enclosures. Pretty sure those new enclosures are handmade from food storage containers, which is genius.
Started watching petko back from the couch days (before i started uni). Gonna have my last final exam on Sunday, crazy how time passes by. Keep it up man, and thanks for getting me through uni :D
It’s really interesting watching these videos. As an arachnophobic person these really help to get me through my fear and appreciating these amazing animals.
You should visit Italy too and contact (for example) Gabriele Greco, maybe he'll let you visit his lab: he is a tarantula keeper but also an arachnologist and a researcher. He's a very knowledgeable guy
I just want to say how much I enjoy your content! I'm not in the "industry", and I have grown a new appreciation for creepy crawlies :D Your enthusiasm is contagious
When that song came on at 12:30 it brought back old dark den vibes. Can’t believe I’ve been watching your videos for well over 5 years now & it’s great to think of all we have both accomplished in that time. You’re the best man, keep it up.
Petko! Love your videos, keep them coming! I received some shirts I ordered from you and the quality of the shirt and the print is amazing! So happy with the purchase…more substrate lol
Hi Petko loved the rehousings and of course the Super Bolty ones make you work a little bit 😂 😂 The new camera you have is brilliant, you can watch what he’s doing, anytime, anyplace, anywhere 💙💙
In the Bert beginning it sounds like you said “Taylor Swift Scorpion” and my first thought was “What an appropriate name for a scorpion” but then I was like Hey Wait a Minute!?!? He said tailless whip scorpion hahaha. Great video as always, I appreciate you Petko!
I think he usually does call them "Taylor Swift scorpions" now. It started when Google captioning captioned it that way a while back and it's kind of a recurring in-joke ever since. And you're in on it now! 😉
Please consider to use a bunch of ferns in the big paludarium! Ferns do excellently in high humidity low light environments and reward you with amazing growth (+ they are pretty hardy).
Can't wait to the moment the Whole Dark Den is just Glassed out. Must be looking Awesome 👌 BTW: thx for the 📷 Link I just needed something like this right now for my dog 🐕 🤟
Just a random side note Petko, took my beardie to the vet for a quick check up, apparently he was a bit dehydrated, she says 6-12ml water/day, looks like Desposito could use more water too? Salads every day, (normal) but only inverts at 2/week apparently 🤷♀️ we learn something new every day.
I would love to meet you at the expo in Orlando but I’ll be 9 months pregnant and I live in New York so I probably shouldn’t be traveling that far. Hopefully you’ll go again next year.
what are the small containers, the smaller once with the square bottom and round top, what are they called and where to you get them? iv never been able to fint them but most breeder i get slings from uses them.
of all the tarantulas I have own and rehoused, Ephebopus murinus is the only one I have almost lost in a shelving unit cause of max bolts. they are wild.
Hi, im following your channel for short time, cuz got interested in scorpion and now im geting it. Question is, where u get those diferent size enclosures for animals?
Commenting as im watching but if youre planning on getting rid of those red capped sling pots, i'd greatly appreciate them if you have nothing else for them. I plan to do a breeding project and those would come in handy.
Idiothele mira is a typical subterranean species that digs its own tunnels. The way of masking and closing the burrow is very characteristic for this species. This spider weaves a lot of cobwebs inside the tunnel, and the entrance to it is secured by a flap typical for "Trapdors", to which it sticks the ground.
The skeleton tarantula, Ephebopus murinus, is a species of spider belonging to the family Theraphosidae, sub-family Aviculariinae. A New World species, it is native to several South American countries. Its common name is derived from the skeleton-like markings on its legs.
Sooooooo good! This was just what i needed after having to skip the feeding episode. p.s. Petko when your describing colours in common english. If you are describing inbetween two colours, you can just add a ''y'' to the end of the first colour to say that. i.e. it is a bluey grey, yellowy green, browny orange etc.
He probably mists their enclosures frequently. When they are that small it's better to just mist I think. I think it varies from keeper to keeper. Slings def don't need water dishes. They can drink the droplets of water from misting. Then young juveniles will drink from the mist droplets. I personally have my two older juvis with water dishes.
Watching Petko's video's cured my spider phobia to some extent. 😅 So im thinking to buy my first spider in 2 months. Still a bit scared to keep a tarantula to be honest 😂 but i would consider buying a jumping spider because they are so tiny and cute. Could anybody recommend me what species i should get?
That's a great place to start! Be aware they don't live very long. Usually months if you get an adult. But I'd recommend anything in the Phidippus genus, pretty widely available. One of us, one of us...
Really? Only a few months? Kat has has most of hers for a couple of years. I suppose if they're wild caught there's no telling how old they are or how long they'll live, but their lifespan in general is typically 1-2 years, maybe longer, under the right conditions and care. Phiddipus Regius (Regal jumping) is one of the most common. Or the P. Audax (bold jumper). I'd honestly love a Regal, or a P. Johnsoni. Have you gotten one yet?? If so, how's it going?? Jumpers are so inquisitive and amongst the most intelligent. And definitely the cutest!
The installation is very simple. You just screw it up xDD Made my day!
Hahahaha got me in an instant xD HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
"The installation is super simple, you just screw it up!" advice for life.
The Theraphosinae sp. Panama has been classified into the Davus genus. It is now Davus sp. Panama. Hopefully it will be fully classified soon.
Petco is quite possibly the most wonderful gentle soul I’ve ever seen. He is just a genuinely nice person and I could watch him and listen to him for hours. ❤️
Petko*
I agree petko is really lovely 🩵
We enjoy the bolts because of how you freak out XD Bonus points if you say "it's not that bolty" right before the _ZOOM_
"The installation is super simple - you just screw it up."
Yup, that sounds about right, had I tried it.

New Dark Den video! My favorite time of the week! Can't wait to see what you have planned for the big enclosure build, when will we see more?! :)
my favourite time of the week to, in fact it's the highlight of my week lol. I look forward to Monday's. Lisa. 🇬🇧💜
I got a couple of their temp/humidity monitors. One inside, one out on the deck! They're great!
Good morning from Australia. So happy to watch another video from the Dark Den. Tuesday is my favorite day of the week for this reason.
Have fun in Florida! If you haven’t visited the gulf side and have a chance to see it, definitely see it! Beautiful beaches!

Are u gonna do u video when you come to America! That would be awesome

I'd go with "ish", like blueish or brownish rather than "y". IMHO
Yay! I love this channel! 🕸🕷🦀🦂❤👍
Where did you get those Enclosures?
Have you ever had a botly one escape during a rehousing and you’ve never managed to find them or catch them again? X
Do you ever give them water? Or do they get it from food thanks.... love ur stuff xxx

YEY...something good to watch...Ha Ha !!
I think your tarantulas take turns being bolty and discuss it amongst themselves just to mess with you. 😂
Petko which curly hair has more hair. Scientific name's please for both.
another great show.

Bolt videos are the best!
Yay!!! Love it!!!
