Just read that Nanci Griffith has passed away at 68. I’ve never considered myself particularly fond of folk music, but in 1988 her song “I Knew Love” made me sit up and listen… and I’ve never forgotten it. Her voice made it so.

April 1988, driving round Leeds en route to see friends in Grassington, this came on the radio and I had to stop the car to listen. I had never heard Nanci Griffith before and it was a thunderbolt moment. In the late 80s and early 90s she was just fantastic.

Had to have them all and saw her live in many places from huge venues to "The Mean Fidler" in Wilsden Junction, London. This was the first song (and video) I've ever heard from Nanci Griffith. From this moment I knew Nanci as one of the best and prolific songwriters in Folk music.
Thank you for postin this channel and regards from Ecuador, SouthAmerica.
