  • I did some upgrades to the Aventon Ramblas and now it's time to see how much better it rides and if I actually enjoy this bike this time!

    Thanks for sharing the Ramblas opinions and footage. Got one on the way, I think it'll be great for my purposes.

    I had mine out this weekend. I just can't believe the climbing power, I don't like the rattles and clunky SRAM shifts, but it's so fun I overlook it.

      Same here. It’s hard to find a reason to leave eco mode. It’s insane

      I heard the rattling on this one, is it the internal cables? Would drive me nuts.

      No, it's a known issue. I need to contact Aventon about it. It's something in the motor and they say it's not supposed to do that.

      I find that shifting is super smooth with proper maintenance, but I guess it depends on terrain ridden, and what your exposure is. After about 10 years off, I think it's amazing compared to my 2009 era Trek (non eMTB). What bugs me about this bike is the motor overrun that occurs at times. Also the walk mode needs to stay on after a double press or something. Also I cracked the rear light housing somehow under normal riding conditions.
      The battery cover also needs a better design, and overall the bike is a TAD heavy, but don't get me wrong I love the bike and have been riding every weekend. I will upgrade the tires eventually but right now I'm enjoying slaying downhills on the thin tires it's like riding a razor blade. I did upgrade my handlebar, stem, and pedals.

      @@sd5458 The sram is loud and clunky compared to others. It works smoothly and is reliable. It's not quiet. The bike rattles. This has nothing to do with maintenance or exposure 🤣

    Is yours a medium? The small comes with 27.5 wheels. If you’re 5’7” the small would definitely suit you better

      It's a medium. The reach is too short on the small and I didn't want 27.5 wheels on this bike.

    The Sram DB8 brakes punch WAY above their weight! I would take them on any build!

    Sweet! Maybe if I off-loaded a few bicycles then I could justify adding an ebike to my stable

      Maybe. I am not sure it's worth it to get rid of regular bikes for an eBike in my opinion.

      After a lifetime of running I had to give that up 10 yrs ago and cannot spend much time on my feet, cannot even walk the minimum recommended. Took up cycling which does not affect my feet, gives me my cardio and also makes my hips feel better too.
      I am nearly 70 now and figure I may require an ebike eventually.

    Did you leave ECO mode at the default setting? I find Trail mode is more responsive.

      Yeah, everything is default right now.

      I had to fine tune (turn down) trail mode as it was too aggressive for me. Eco I left alone, and turbo I bumped down a little bit because it was only appropriate for flat out speed runs which I rarely do. I'm curious to see what settings others are running though.

      @@ShadLife Oh man yeah that would probably mess up the torque sensor huh? I wonder if Aventon could be of any help. I'm definitely interested in seeing how the ramblas would perform with a smaller rear wheel. The bike is deffinately hard to pull the front end up and looking for solutions.

    • @ShadLife
      @ShadLife  2 місяці тому +1

      @@colonybmx247 I sent them a full review of what I thought about the bike. One of the things I suggested was a shorter chainstay length. It's 165mm and that is huge! 140mm or 145mm would make it a lot easier to pull up the front end.
      One thing you can do with the existing setup is get a taller handlebar. I will likely try that here soon on mine.

    I really don’t get e bikes on trails unless they are flat. You don’t use it going down it takes no skill to go up you just plow everything. Why not just ride a dirt bike if you don’t want to put in the effort of pedaling. You could buy 2 used 250’s for the price of one e-bike especially if you have to upgrade stuff.

    • @phakoo23
      @phakoo23 7 годин тому

      E-Bikes really only for trails where 250's aren't allowed :-) Fair point about value. But You can recharge the bike basically free, and fuel and maintenance on old 250's is it's own can of worms
