Delightful way to start the new year. Bread-making is truly an art. I remember a video a while back where you discussed the integrity and quality of old stoves like the one in your kitchen. Well! Now that kind of oven is trending. It’s cool and Millennials and Gen Zs like me WANT that kind of oven in their kitchen for that very reason…and the aesthetic, of course. So, it’s only increased in value. And so cool to see. Disneyland has the backside of water, your back porch has the backside of the dryer! I now just want fresh buttered-jellied bread for dinner. That’s all I need. Beautiful.
Who can say they look forward to the next load of laundry? 🥴😵💫😉 Back in June our dryer was doing the same thing- - - not drying! We had to call a company that cleans out the dryer vents, both from the dryer and the one running outdoors ( through the roof). I was told they should be cleaned out yearly and we hadn't done it for 7 years. After seeing the lint from the vent and roof, we were lucky we didn't have a fire!
Loved the format this week with the back and forth segments. Reminded me of afternoons watching cooking and home improvement/woodworking shows on PBS. And now I want bread! 😅
@@1834RestorationHouse I respect Jeannie's kneading abilities, but I'm not sure I have it in me. I will definitely pick up some frozen bread dough at the next opportunity! I have definitely baked up some of that before and it's always a good time!
#104👍 Hello you two! 😊 I hope you had a wonderful Christmas celebration! 🎄🎀 Ours was quiet, just Preston and myself, but it was very nice. Thanks, Jeanie, for showing the bread recipe. 😊 Nice to see you again, and wishing you many new blessings in 2024!🎉 Hope you received the card! ❤ Blessings and hugs🙏
Wanted to take a quick moment to wish you both all the very best for this coming new year! I hope you have a lovely evening planned, even if it's quiet and relaxed. Take care of yourselves, take care of each other, and we'll look forward to seeing you on the other side...in 2024! Cheers M&J!! 💞 Marian 🇨🇦
It's so good to see you both back again, Jeanie & Mike! You've been missed. We understand why, of course, but we still miss your sweet, smiling faces. Hope the school semester ended well, Mike, and that you both had a very Merry Christmas! ✨🎄✨ Happy New Year coming up and can't wait to see what 2024 holds for you and The Old Victorian! 🎉🎉
Hi, Mike and Jeanie! It's so good to see you both again. We enjoyed seeing both your projects! The bread looks delicious, and it was useful to see how to troubleshoot a dryer that is misbehaving. Best wishes for the New Year! 🎉
So good to see so much of you two this video! Thanks for sharing that super easy recipe that makes only one loaf of bread, too. Happy New Year, 2024, Jeanie & Mike! Blessings!
Hello Mike and Jeanie! Happy to see you again. I wish I had the patience (and arm strength) to make that delicious bread. I loved this episode :) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both!
Well, glad to see you feeling much better and back at it. I love baking bread. Very therapeutic. I use my cast iron dutch oven. Makes round loaf but taste the same. Have a happy new year!🎉 Can't wait to see what you are up to in 2024.🤗❤️🤍💙
Good to see ya'll back, hope you had great holidays. I love home made bread but yeast and I don't get along. I can't make anything that requires it, something in my body chemistry.
Good to see you both again! I was thinking about Jeanie's canning this morning, and wondered if she ever canned pickles. My mom used to make bread and butter pickles and canned them. We would go to a farm in a near by town in the summer to pick the cucumbers she used. Fun memories! The bread looked wonderful. I know you enjoyed sharing that at your meal! Happy New Year to you both!
We've never tried pickles yet, but they do sound delicious! My (Mike) grandmother was a pickle making expert, and there was never a shortage in her house.
Happy New Year to you both. My husband used to bake bread with the children back in the 1970s. Have lots of lovely photographs of their times in the kitchen. Orange decor was in at the time - absolutely ghastly in retrospect.
Good to see you guys! Mike must be taking a breather from school! Wishing you both a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year (with less studying and more fun!)
It's so good to see you both again. The video was booth fun and interesting. Love how you broke it up between your individual projects. Jeannie, loved seeing cooking videos and Mike's fix it videos. Happy New Year to both of you. ❤
Isn't the kneading more for gluten development than yeast activation? I've only attempted bread making a few times, and all those attempts were sometime last century. I did work off and on at Pizza Hut for a decade, and made lots of pizza dough. Thankfully a very large Hobart mixer did all the kneading there. I think a full batch of dough took somewhere around twenty-five pounds of flour. Kneading by hand would have been a serious workout. It's been over a quarter of a century since I last worked there. I have dabbled with some small batch home made pizza dough recipes off and on this century, but it's been a few years since my last batch. I need to try my hand at bread and/or pizza dough again. I intended to give sourdough bread a try a while back. I got the starter started, but never got around to replacing the bad heating element in my oven to try making a batch.
We found a great youtube channel that shows how to make genuine Italian pizza crust. This method transformed the pizza in our house! His channel is called: Vito Iacopelli
@@1834RestorationHouse That's a great channel. I've been subscribed for quite a while and have watched many of his videos. I need to upgrade my oven and get back to honing my pizza crust skills.
Hope you had a lovely restful Christmas. It’s great to see you both again. The bread looks delicious. Have a wonderful new year and I look forward to seeing more of you both in the new year. ❤🎉
It’s so good to see you both again. Hope you had a good Christmas. I’m so happy that Jeannie did the baking of bread. I’ve always wanted to try it n the recipe is pretty simple but my problem is my arthritis in my hands. I don’t know if I can last 10 minutes kneading it LOL. Did you get the dryer fixed? Could it have been the heating element? Hope you got the saw dust out of the blade area n it’s all better now. You have been missed but we understand why. Hope 2024 will be far better for you n all of us. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟 Happy New Year to you both.🥰

Great bread
I love the new way of going back and forth between the two projects. Very engaging way to edit. ❤

It looked like you would use less than a capful of oil to coat the dough.
Yes, not very much is needed.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! I have retired as of 20 Dec 2023.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz😁
Congratulations sir! I hope you are able to take up some hobbies that you've always wanted to do.
Did you make your beautiful shawl? The bread looked delicious!
No, the shawl was a gift from a viewer.
Nice to see you back! Nice shawl: Jeannie, did you make it? The colors graduate just right for its length.
Thanks but no, it was a gift from a viewer.
Jeanie did you make your shawl?
Are these homes haunted?
Hard to say for sure.....Unexplained things have happened here.
