I love the tone variations in the different woods on the chest. Seeing the finished piece suddenly was a funny and awe inspiring moment. Inspires my furniture restoration work even though the cedar chest is brand new. Look forward to seeing the progress of the door. And that beautiful room restored so you can use the antique fireplace. Can’t wait to see the wood behind all that paint.
Hi, Mike and Jeanie! The blanket chest is beautiful! Great job ❤ It's so smart to tackle the attic door now, before late spring hits and it gets too hot to work up there.
Jeannie’s blanket chest is stunning. I do love the detail work you did on the top n also the bottom. Having those details gives the chest much character. That’s real bummer not being able to find your bit for the boards. I hope you’ll find it or you’ll have to order another. The access to opening up to the attic is going to be perfect cuz Mike always measures perfectly 😁. ♥️♥️😊👍👍
I'm glad you used music over the machinery, because I have sensitive hearing and I find it hard on my eardrums when you use your fabulous tools. The blanket chest turned out beautifully, can't wait to see the hinges you choose.
A while back somebody complained that they would rather hear noise than music so I tried it. UA-cam channel metrics tell me that music is better for the viewer experience, so we'll keep it going.
Short, but sweet! The Chest looks fantastic, even without the Hinges. I'm sure you will find that Bit, in the meantime, fingers crossed! The background music was a great addition, I love your choices. Have a Happy Easter, Mike and Jeanie! 🥰🥰
#120👍🏻 Jeannie, the chest turned out GORGEOUS! 😍 Great craftsmanship, Manly! 😂 Happy Good Friday to you, and a lovely Resurrection Sunday to you all! 🌄✝️💜💐
It’s so frustrating when you can’t find the tool you’re looking for! How is Jeanie’s garden coming along this spring? Has she planted in the brick planters yet? I don’t remember seeing any video at the end of the season last year. How did her flowers turn out? And are the trees out back blooming? Our cactus are all blooming here, which are beautiful, but I do miss seeing all the spring-blooming trees back East! I hope you can get some A/C running up in that attic for this summer! Best, Jan
Hi Jan, the trees and bushes are in full bloom right now. The garden fizzled due to health issues. Somewhere back in the summer 2023 videos there is a segment on the plants in the brick planter. Right now it looks really tired!
I remember seeing when Jeanie picked out her plants and planted them. So sorry to hear about the health issues. I hope you two will be able to get some flowers in before it gets too hot. Meanwhile, enjoy the gorgeous magnolias! Wish I was there to see them!
Wouldn't putting in a set of attic stairs been more practical? Yes, I know it wouldn't have been period appropriate, but at the same time, no one would know until you pulled them down. 😊 BTW, the blanket chest turned out fantastically. Maybe you should think of leather hinges with brass nail heads/ brads. Then, attach small chains on the inside back lid corners to the box to prevent the lid from falling completely backward. That would really make it look "old." 😊
Pull down stairs would be difficult with 10 foot ceilings. A lot of people use modern hinges on their chests, but wouldn't it be neat to have some blacksmithed hinges?
@1834RestorationHouse Very much so. However, trying to find someone who could do that kind of work might mean a very expensive set of hinges. I know the attic stairs come in 10 ft lengths/height because we were only able to find 10 ft when we were considering stairs for our garage attic that is 12 feet.
Hello Mike and Jeanie! A question, btw the chest is beautiful, great craftsmanship! What color brown paint did you use on the ceiling and trim in the bedroom with the attic access? Thanks!
@@1834RestorationHouse thank you so much! Can't wait to see it on my bedroom trim, and beadboard closets..You two have inspired me with my own restoration of our 1921 cottage on a former peach orchard.

Thanks! I'm still not used to seeing it there and it's a real treat to see it sitting there.

Thank you! Yes, it will get impossibly hot up there in a few months.
That's just beautiful ! What a good job.
The chest turned out GREAT! We can not wait to see your next furniture project. You two work great together *smiles*
Thanks so much! 😊We need to build another copy of the blanket chest.

Love the blanket chest looks great!
Thank you!!
The door should be as large as possible to bring in large furniture or furnace and water filters that treat the whole house. Large large large!!!!
The chest looks fantastic. Even a short video makes my day. Have a wonderful Easter weekend. See ya next time!!🌷❤️🤍💙
Thank you so much 🤗

You know what’s going to happen. You’ll get a new set of bits then soon after find the ones that went missing. 😊
That's absolutely what will happen! We have a pile of flashlights, two measuring tapes, etc...
I wish you'd make me a chest like the one you just made. IL LOVE IT!!!
Do you think anyone would buy them if we made them?
The blanket chest looks great! Did you give up on putting in stairs up to the attic?
Thank you! Yes, putting in stairs would be very hard due to the constrained space.

Hello Mike and Jeanie! A question, btw the chest is beautiful, great craftsmanship! What color brown paint did you use on the ceiling and trim in the bedroom with the attic access? Thanks!
Thank you! We used Benjamin Moore Hasbrouck Brown HC-71. It has a slight reddish undertone.

@@dallen3390That's great! Just take your time and do your research. Most of all, have fun!
I love the chest and climate control will be a good thing.
Thank you! It would be amazing to be able to use the upstairs.
