  • Barbara Walters, the longtime NBC and ABC journalist who became the first woman to anchor a network TV evening news broadcast, died Friday at age 93. Three friends and colleagues - "Sunday Morning" anchor Jane Pauley, and former ABC News veterans Ted Koppel and Sam Donaldson - sit down to reminisce about Walters' stellar career: the interviews, the successes, and the competitiveness.

I have been watching clips. Harry Reasoner did not hide his hatred for her one bit.
In one he said "Barbara I counted. And this evening, you talked 4 minutes more than I did. You owe me 4 minutes."
She had to put up with much BS for decades. And then ageism at the end....

Barbara Walters certainly was one of the interviewing ladies, that defined how an interview should be- relaxed, comfortable, formal, and soothing. She certainly was a great part of NBC and ABC television, as well as the shows, "The View" and "ABC 20/20", in my day. I know I'll miss her dearly, and I'll forever remember how she had such a huge and emotional farewell, on her retirement day on "The View", as Oprah Winfrey brought out many female colleagues to say goodbye. If that's not a way to retire, then I don't know what is.
Barbara, I'll miss you and I thank you. Keep on riding high, with Gilda Radner and Peter Jennings.

I feel that Barbara would not be happy with the way the view is now.
