  • Feed The Streets NYC is an all-volunteer mutual aid organization helping homeless people every Sunday in Lower Manhattan. As homelessness continues to grow, concerned citizens are stepping up to fill gaps in the safety net.
Amy is full of energy and a spirit of compassion. Amy works as a fashion model. She can do countless other things on the weekend, but Amy and a small army of volunteers gather donations to give out to their unhoused friends every Sunday in New York City
Feed The Streets started in Los Angeles but is expanding as resources allow. If you'd like more information to get involved or to make a donation, visit their website here: www.feedthestreets.info

    About Invisible People
There is a direct correlation between what the general public perceives about homelessness and how it affects policy change. Most people blame homelessness on the person experiencing it instead of the increasing shortage of affordable housing, lack of employment, childhood trauma, lack of a living wage, or the countless reasons that put a person at risk. This lack of understanding creates a dangerous cycle of misperception that leads to the inability to effectively address the root causes of homelessness.
We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Each day, we work to fight homelessness by giving it a face while educating individuals about the systemic issues that contribute to its existence. Through storytelling, education, news, and activism, we are changing the narrative on homelessness.
This isn’t just talk. Each year, our groundbreaking educational content reaches more than a billion people across the globe. Our real and unfiltered stories of homelessness shatter stereotypes, demand attention and deliver a call-to-action that is being answered by governments, major brands, nonprofit organizations, and everyday citizens just like you.
However, there is more work to be done on the road ahead. Homelessness is undoubtedly one of our biggest societal issues today and will only continue to grow if we don’t take action now.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about homelessness through innovative storytelling, news, and advocacy. Since our launch in 2008, Invisible People has become a pioneer and trusted resource for inspiring action and raising awareness in support of advocacy, policy change and thoughtful dialogue around poverty in North America and the United Kingdom.

I volunteered in NY I recommend anyone try it it's the best feeling to help. What was interesting that some who came for food where ones you never would have thought were homeless if you saw walking on the street. It shows you that there are many more out there on the verge of being on streets and may not be willing to accept help.

    LIFE'S WALK
WHEN YOU WALK IN SOMEONE'S SHOES
YOU HAVE TO FEEL THEIR PAIN
YOU HAVE TO FEEL THEIR HAPPINESS
AND LOVE GONE DOWN THE DRAIN
IF YOU WALK IN SOMEONE'S SHOES
    TAKE TIME TO UNDERSTAND
HOW THEY TROD THE PATH OF LIFE
WHEN NO ONE HELD THEIR HAND
WHEN YOU WALK IN SOMEONE'S SHOES
BE KIND AND SAY A PRAYER
FOR ONE DAY YOU MIGHT THAT WALK
    WITH HOPE SOMEONE WILL CARE
UNTIL YOU WALK IN SOMEONE'S SHOES
    YOU CANNOT MAKE THE CALL
    YOU CANNOT JUDGE THEIR ACTIONS
OR IF THEY FAILED AT ALL
WE TROD THE PATH BESIDE YOU
    AND TRIED TO UNDERSTAND
NOT IN YOUR SHOES BUT NEXT TO YOU
WITH LOVE WE HELD YOUR HAND
FEEL FREE TO SHARE IF IT CAN HELP SOMEONE

@Alek Stanton what? Dang, I wish one million subs = one million dollars. You do know UA-cam pays by ads, NOT subscribers, yes? On all of our interview videos, there are zero ads. I did place ads in this video. It cost over $5,000 to make this video, and the total ad revenue will probably end up less than $200. Why would I lose money? 1) our goal in producing videos like this is to inspire others to help their homeless neighbors. 2) Amy is so nice and genuine, I wanted to invest in Feed The Streets NYC. AND AS FAR AS ENDING HOMELESSNESS BEING A THREAT TO OUR UA-cam CHANNEL OR NONPROFIT! In a heartbeat, I would go back to work in marketing, make good money, have less anxiety and depression that comes from working with hurting people, and I would get myself a new wife and vacation in Hawaii like normal people. Instead, I spend every waking moment working to help homeless people and solve the homeless crisis. For the past 13 years, I worked without compensation. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help solve homelessness so I can go back and have a normal life again. PLEASE?

@@alekstanton4715 If you do know UA-cam pays by ads, you left an "interesting" first comment. Other UA-camrs may sell classes or products or have other ways of generating revenue because...wait for it...they are in the business of making money. WE ARE NOT UA-camRS! Invisible People is a nonprofit organization working to help solve homelessness through storytelling, journalism, and advocacy. This leads me to the answer to your second question - we do not place ads on interview videos because we feel it would not be right to monetize a homeless person's story unless we could profit share with them. Again - we are a nonprofit, not a UA-camr.
Why does it cost $5,000 to make a video like this? I get the feeling you are just baiting me here, but I'll play. We paid someone to shoot, edit and produce this video. We also had to cover the costs of travel. $5,000 for a video is midrange. Many UA-camrs spend tens of thousands of dollars producing videos - bet that doesn't bother you, does it? Quality transmits creditability. Our goal is to reach people to motivate them to help their homeless neighbors. To do that, we need to produce quality videos. Plus, we wanted to provide Feed The Streets NYC a quality video they can use to gain more support.
As far as housing homelessness, watch this video about housing homeless people ua-cam.com/video/SizHuR225Co/v-deo.html
Your Bernie Sanders supporters comment is ignorant. Either you are some young kid getting filled with garbage from your parents or you're pretending to be a young kid but are really much older getting filled with garbage from Fox News. Ethier way, my guess is you're posting comments just to cause drama, so I knew responding to you would be a waste of my time, but I figured I would type this out for others that maybe be reading comments.

Meaningful changes happen when the mindset of the general population has changed, especially in a democracy where we elect our representatives. Individual acts matter of course, but the real stuff with lasting effects happens at the systemic level.
If you are 19 you are still a young kid, btw! Your opinions will change a lot in the next 5 to 10 years.

They should tax all sports teams 1or 2% of ticket money goes directly to programs like this and they will be able to provide for the less fortunate, when you out on the streets you be hungry every day not just Thanksgiving and Christmas.

IMO by doing this, you are perpetuating homelessness. Just like feeding stray animals, doesn't help solve the core issue. Wouldn't it be better if 90% of your efforts go into set coordination channels with local authorities & Universities to create & implement plans that tend to erradic the problem at it's root. I wonder, people like you keep growing and so are the homeless.
