This tournament was a banger to watch. Congrats to Shinymark for winning it with a feature length animated film of Grand Finals to top it off against Sonix with another Game 5 win over Maister. Good runs to gackt too for showing that Ness is still really good. Many had one of the best bracket runs ever with wins on MuteAce, MkLeo, Skyjay, and more. Also COSMOS IS BACK MAKING TOP 8. Clutchmos in the building. He even took Sonix to Game 5 as well. Sonix also managed to place 2nd at every major and supermajor of the season. A lot of stuff happened.
23:06 The comment about Gackt not attending big tournaments is completely false, and he still competes a lot. He places top 8 to 3, or I think even first. Those are considered locals but the competition is big every week.
So much history this week, absolutely insane. First Pika to win a major and supermajor after lockdown at S Factor 11 (and the first player to win a major and supermajor from Central America) First Bayo player to win a major in Ult at Seibugeki 17 (good stuff, TamaP) I think Doramigi was also one of the youngest players to win a major ever. And also the first to do it with solo Min Min.
I really liked the old format with the new editing! And the montages felt super tight. A bit more on the analyzing side would he good but really really great video!
Haven't finished yet, but already enjoying the return of montages. Thanks for the vid! Also, the end of Game 4 between Cosmos and Sonix was just jawdropping to watch in real time.
@@cullenhutchison6528 sadly he'll probably be 3rd. I have him second but Miya has so many major wins that even with his underperformances he's probably #2 (acolas absolutely #1)
@jinxeatsdust the thing about Acola is he didn't really go to much compared to the other 3 contenders (Rip Hurt for his 49th last weekend). Idk how they'll do rankings but the points in favor of Miya are that he has the most major wins and the highest highs of anyone else this season meanwhile Sonix has not placed 3rd or lower at the 5 majors he went to (Lvl up was B+) and has at least one win on everyone he has lost to (there's not much data on Acola but he does have the 0-2 record on Hurt)
Good movie! I am a little sad that you didn’t show when ShinyMark got a 70% conversion off the ledge that literally won him that game 5 against Sonix, mostly because it was a SICK pickup and one of my favorite plays from the tourney (second only to that random ass dair that Cosmos got on Sonix recovering from the top of the screen 😂), but overall this was fantastic coverage of the whole event!
It's actually crazy how bad Shinymark's bracket was both MU wise and stress wise. GnW, Sonic Steve AND Ness?! Bro... SPOILERS: Also, it is unreal that Sonix has come 2nd in every single event he's attended for the entirety of 2024. Like how does that even happen
It is not often that we have 3 majors in a single weekend lol so it’s probably the first time this has happened but it’s not like there’s a huge sample size
@@PepsiSSBYou're right, this is the first time we've had 3 majors in one weekend. The only time it came close was the weekend of CEO last year, were we had a major in Japan, one in Europe and CEO which ended up being a B+ tier
Props to ShinyMark for the impressive results. I just wish I could bring myself to watch his sets because I find Pikachu, particularly the way ShinyMark plays them, to be the most boring character in the game to watch. No hate-hey, I find my own playstyle to be pretty boring to watch-but it makes me a bit sad because I otherwise like watching top players fight and I just can't with ShinyMark the majority of the time.
Love the Smash Ultimate competitive scene, but I don't understand why timing out reset the scores, and why Shiny won on the 3rd time out? Can anyone explain that to me? I recon Shiny won because he got more victories or something in total? I dunno. Also if anyone has like a link or something that could explain the rules for tournaments in general, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Every time a timeout occurs, the winner is the one with more stocks, and if both players have the same amount of stocks left, the winner is whoever has less percent. The scores reset because Sonix won the set from the losers side, meaning he had to win another BO5 set to win the tourney. Shinymark's timeout got him the win because he was from the winners side, where he only needed to win one set to win the tourney.
Okay. So you see, the reason why the first time out "resetted the score", is because Sonix came into grand finals from losers, and won the set with that time out, since it was the third game Sonix has won. And the reason why Sonix won with a time out is because he had less percent than Shinymark. And basically, if you come into grand finals from losers you need to win 2 sets, while the one coming into grand finals from winners needs to only win one set, but because Sonix won, we have what we call "a grand finals reset", and we get second set. As for the third timeout, the reason why Shinymark won after that third timeout is because it was the third game he won in that grand finals set, and Shinymark won that game since unlike the two previous timeouts, he had less percent than Sonix.
@@Youchus551Maybe it’s nerves. He seems to get very antsy in high pressure situations. I can’t really blame him either cloud is such a volatile character where a few mistakes lead to death

It's because the one with the lesser percentage or more stocks wins. So because Shinymark had less damage dealt, he won
